1976_Child Posted 31 January, 2009 Share Posted 31 January, 2009 Some may think I am being sycophantic by posting this, but I am genuine. On the eve of our protest march (leveled squarely at the suits in the boardroom and not at the lads in Red and White - I do hope) does anyone else join me in saying a mighty big thank you to all those who work behind the scenes at our club, yet go unnoticed... Sure, football is the name of the game - and the players and coaching staff are naturally in the limelight. But, there are many others on the pay-roll of our club, and I propose a toast to them all! I am very strongly opposed to our FC being run as a PLC. I guess I am now acknowledging that we can not on the one hand be against the PLC and yet be blind to the fact that SFC has many more employees than just the playing/coaching squad. So, I thought I would start this thread on the eve of what might be a fairly vocal weekend, so that we could show our appreciation to all those who make SFC happen behind the scenes: 1. the ticket office 2. the catering people - (colder pints please!) 3. the Orange Coats (yeah, you're ok really!......) 4. the people who sweep the terraces after we are all gone - now that is an omission that I have never thought about.. 5. ....Hampshire Constabulary (yes, them lot, but they do us all a service and keep us safe....kinda) 6. the groundsmen, at SMS and the training ground 7. the toilet cleaners who give us sparkling fresh urinals to pee in 8 ..... there are many more.... I am getting quite emotional actually. I love Southampton Football Club! I just got to thinking, there really are a lot of people who work for/with our football club and I just think we should give them a round of applause and not take it all for granted.. Thank you to all who work 'unnoticed behind the scenes'. LONG LIFE SOUTHAMPTON FOOTBALL CLUB!!! UP THE SAINTS!!
Saint Fan CaM Posted 31 January, 2009 Share Posted 31 January, 2009 Great post - can we exclude the steward who was so intent on being a mouthy tw*t at the Man Utd game, every word he shouted seemed to be accompanied by spit that rained down on me and those around me? Most stewards are fine, but this guy really thought he was God's gift rather than the repulsive idiot he actually was.

alpine_saint Posted 31 January, 2009 Share Posted 31 January, 2009 Fine sentiments, 1976. Agree completely. Its very easy to forget with the rising backdrop of panic about being relegated, that there are still a lot of very hard working dedicated people at the club making things happen. It's just a pity THEY dont bring their boots with them, and its just makes the actions of a couple of arrogant selfish individuals at the top even more annoying...
