Sticky?

There are a number of threads running on the board all linked to this issue. I think its time to draw them together.

Regardless of what happens in the League and point deduction debates, THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT SUBJECT ON THE TABLE RIGHT NOW AND DESERVES EVERYONE'S ATTENTION AND IMAGINATION

Lowe and Wilde may now be history - we have a wonderful opportunity to now unite this Club - as a football Club once again.

But, in several weeks there will not be a Club unless we finally do what many of us have screamed for over the last 2 years - SELL THE CLUB.

EVERY fan, every fan leader, every shareholder, MP, Councillor, Saints player and superstar and EVERYONE connected with the media MUST now pull together to SELL this Club.

I proposed this strategy a while ago but it is important that we consider using it fast:

We need a sales team: MPs, Councillors, Stars, fans, the administrators, Bank rep. We need to push hard for the BEST offer we can get to save this fantastic football club.

But, we need your ideas on why this Club is saleable. My starters for 10 to any investor:

1. Infrastructure of Premiership quality.

2. One of the most successful youth academies in the country - the best certainly in the South.

3. A family-oriented, hardly any trouble club with kids everywhere in the ground and a friendly atmosphere.

4. A marketable name abroad - THE SAINTS

5. THE BIGGEST SLEEPING FAN BASE in the South.

6. Tradition.

7. A dynamic red and white strip - marketable.

8. Superstar association - MLT, Shearer, Mick Channon... the list goes on.

9. A sound bunch of young players to build upon.

10. The ability to attract high quality managers (and now the potential to hold on to them with Lowe's removal)

11. Optimistic fan base once more.

Remember - as fans we need to now follow Nick Illingworth's call and demonstrate to the world that Saints has that fan base. PLEASE everyone - SUPPORT Southampton FC, it just came alive again. RIP SLH plc.

We have an historic opportunity - but we MUST take action now... support your club in every way you can.

What else makes us saleable? BE POSITIVE.

We have actually played a big part in Soccer history, one of our early players took football to Brazil (World Cup record holders). Here is some text from the BBC H2G2 Site:

Brazilian football: attractive, flowing, attacking flair play, replete with ludicrous amount of skill and poise. Southampton are directly responsible for the introduction of the beautiful game to the country. A British expatriate named Miller was supervising railway construction in Sao Paolo in the late 19th Century. He decided his son needed an English education, however, and duly sent his ten-year old son, Charlie, back to England in order to attend a school called Banister Court in Southampton. It was here he discovered football, a game at which he turned out to be rather good. In the south of England, the ground is harder than in the north, so a rapid dribbling game developed, as opposed to the more sedantry passing style that northern terrain promoted. Young Miller proved to be rather adept at dribble, swerve, pace and feign. He was good enough to make the first Southampton club side, scoring at the age of only 17 on his debut, in a 3-1 victory over an army side. He returned to Sao Paulo in 1894 at the age of 20, with two footballs in his luggage. Miller almost single-handedly spread the game throughout his adopted country. He even gave his name to a skill used even today by the best Brazilian players, and by the greats such as Socrates, Rivelino and Pele: the 'Chaleiro', which is a deft little flick of the ball with the heel.

I am surprised the club hasnt made of this to be honest, most Saints fans know nothing about it?

Useful to an international buyer - good call Paul.

You have forgotten the excellent catering unless RL took that with him.

lol - BUT GOOD POINT! The corporate entertainment and concert facilities are second to none in the area.

Also thought of another big sales point;

Southampton - gateway to the UK. Park your yacht and invest in the most important port for UK trade.

The club is within walking distance of many historic sites:

Mayflower memorial which commemorates the departure of "The Mayflower" that set sail in 1620 for America from the port of Southampton.

Titanic dock & museum (Huge new Titanic Museum and "walk on" replica to be built soon, lots of overseas visitors coming in.

The Medieval Merchants House.

As Soccer AM say - If you are visiting the city, pop on down & take in a game!

But Robbie - you and Stanley told us that administration was the answer to life the universe and everything. Why should we have to do anything?. Its all going to be alright isn't it? You told us so!

Absolutely, as much as I hate all the boardroom shuffles administration was not the answer. Seems some have suddenly become rather excited for whatever reason.

Yep - administration and all our worries would be a thing of the past. Coupled with the fact that his strategy for the 'sales team' reads more like any fans 'dream sheet'. All of the 'ideas that make us marketable' can be found at err about 90 other league clubs as well - so I hardly think anything on the list makes us a unique prospect.

One would hope that any investor with a couple of million to spend would have a little more business acumen other than to be drawn to buying us because we have a 'Dynamic Red and White strip'...!

SaintRobbie is clearly a passionate fan who genuinely cares and is trying his best. He's also obviously a nutter but he's a likeable nutter, who is a passionate fan who genuinely cares and is trying his best.

Not sure this thread will make a sticky, or change anything at all in fact, and I didn't even read it all in fairness, but his obvious passion is there for all to see and even inspired me to be positive for at least a nanosecond. I say fair play to SaintRobbie.

Never said that. Always actually been anti the idea of administration and have pushed for the sale of the club for 2 years solidly now. Admin has now forced that sale, which is a good thing.

Sorry Tel, but you are fundamentally incorrect.

Lets get this club sold. :)

Happy days... 15 interested buyers and counting... and a full stadium at SMS. Nice being vindicated after this many years of campaigning Tel.

No time for negativity Micky. Not required at the moment. Mr Wotte is about to see the real fans returning today to SMS in a packed house. Care to join us? ;)
