John B Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 Still feel rotten following yesterday's game - but if Nowich and Forest lose Monday then takes on new meaning! Hmmmmmm I dont think Wotte is Very Happy either from the BBC Southampton coach Mark Wotte on his team's start: "It throws away all the preparations. We knew that Wolves would be on fire after their performance against Birmingham so we told them to be very aggressive at the beginning of the match. "We expected Wolves like they came, but if you don't win your headers and don't attack the ball then it's already a very difficult game. "After 20 minutes they get the penalty and it's 3-0, and it's more or less game over. "I'm just blaming my team for not dealing with set-pieces better than they did." BotleySaint Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 Agreed. If we do stay up somehow when all is said and done I will feel quite embarrassed about it. We really don't deserve to. But defeats for those two today mean we can prolong the suffering until we can "know for sure" one way or the other.. who'd follow football, seriously. rick1976.4.38 Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 seriously, does it matter anymore, lets get this over with and rebuild next season and hope one day the good times return.yesterday has to probably be one of the most gutless performances ive ever seen by saints.coyr
um pahars Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 But if one of them gets a win we are just about truly fooked!!! If Norwich win, then I think it is game over. They will be 5 points better off, but with a better goal difference we will need 6 points to overhaul them and I can't see us clawing back 6 points on them in 4 games. The only positive is that they are away at Swansea (they then have Watford at home on Monday. Barnsley then come into play but with two games in hand they only need one point from those two to be in the same position as Norwich. Forest could win today and pull 4 points ahead of us, but the fact we have them last game of the season means we just need to stay within three points of them. Norwich must not win today!!!!!!!!!! I dont really understand why we are so bad We had three internationals in the squad Saga Euell Skacel Reasonably Good old Pros in Davis Perry Saejis and Wotton U21 U19 Internationals Lallans Schenderlin Surman James Youngsters with so called Potential McGoldrick and Smith and £750000 Striker BWP Surely that is a reasonable Championship Squad and Wotte is no mug Edited 11 April, 2009 by John B

So IMHO you have to start looking at the manager and the coachign squad and ask why they are not getting the best out of the team????? On paper we are much better than our current position. Yes I agree over the last five years under various coaching regimes we have failed to respond and strung a number of good results together Apart from the playoff season where we nearly threw that away. Once the team get on the field some of them seem to be like headless chickens including Davis yesterday who seems to have lost confidence.
Mustapha Fag Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 On paper we are much better than our current position. How much longer are we going to say that? Weve been under performing for years OR we have been overestimating how good these players are, perhaps they are where they deserve to be

Now with a lack of confidence and the pressure of playing catchup football (and the shambles going on behind the scenes) we look odds-on to go down. Did you steal that line from the Rupert book of excuses And it has to be said.... Unfortunately the game yesterday was played on grass... Obviously the answer is so simple - we train in our wonderful dome and the players just are not used to having rain upset their expensive hair-do's, and are not used to the way the ball gets blown about by the wind, and how the wet grass in the midlands made it much harder for them to jump as high as they are used to indoors Oh and where was SCW and his vision coach - obviously our players have not been taught how to use their eyes to see somebody running 50 + yards into empty space...... It would be funny if in some horrible ways I didn't think some of it is likely true... Good old JP's pre-season eh - all that wonderful time spentplaying tippy-tappy keepie uppie ball work and none on how to jump, mark or even be fit enough to run... :smt086

You get what you pay for in this world, Lowe appointed inexperienced Dutch managers on the cheap and got sh*te management in return. That's why we're so bad, and that's why we're in the position we're in. The only hope is that there are some equally shocking teams around us, so the odd couple of wins might well be enough. It's no longer in our hands though, we just have to hope the other teams f*ck up more royally than we're doing

John some of our players have unfulfilled potential i agree, some may even be better suited to the premier league, but they havnt performed in the hustle of the championship, will they cope with the even bigger cloggers in league 1? ottery st mary Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 As per the whole season we are just a very, very poor side and a clear out will begin to solve some of this problem. Astute Manager and Coach with experience of Div 1/CCC will steady the ship and start the rehabilitation of the football problems...Hopefully in line with our new rich benefactor/consortium...Back to the prayers and some messages in a bottle to those rich Islands. Yes but most managers are astute sometimes but not always all of the time. That is why they get sacked. It is likely we will either keeper Wotte or get someone who has failed else where like Strachan! Hoddle etc I would disagree with you about we have been a poor side this season - we have generally been a poor side since January 2004 Edited 11 April, 2009 by John B

action man Posted 11 April, 2009 Share Posted 11 April, 2009 as per every game we have been on sky,we seem to self destruct, the players have no passion they just move on WHEN we get relegated, the manager is clueless, and knows he will be gone out of this current squad there is only about 4 worth keeping imo i hope who ever comes in cleans out the club from top to bottom, and then we can move forward

No I meant January 2004 I cannot believe it has been that long we were particularly bad in 2004-2005 that is why we were relegated I thought In that time we have had Strachan Sturrock Wigley Redknapp Burley Dodd/Gorman Pearson JP Wotte Surely one of them could have got us playing consistently well Edited 11 April, 2009 by John B

This is the reason i can not see us getting out of this and relegation is a certainty
