  1. I've been watching Saints since the 70s and this is the most wound up I have ever got about a game, and that includes many many bad experiences, and even beats the semi final against Everton in 1984. Saints played ok today and were only beaten by ineptitude by the referee, who seemed incapable of making the correct decision, and a linesman who ignored directives and was putting his flag up at every opportunity, backed up by a not fit for purpose VAR system. Everyone knows that the linesman are told to keep their flag down and let play continue. If he had followed directives and kept his flag down for the Ings goal then it would never have been disallowed. As for the handball, before VAR that would have been a penalty 10 out of 10 times, he has basically saved the ball from going in the net. How more blatant can it be? The referee is a good position and can clearly see that, he shouldn't need VAR. I don't know about you, but when I saw it on replay I thought ' Well that's a stonewall, who is going to take the pen?', I was incredulous when it wasn't given. Of course, I am unhappy because Saints lost, but I think my anger is more about the way that football is being ruined by this ridiculous Big Brother management of the game. You know who should be ashamed? All of those who were foaming at the mouth for VAR a couple of years ago, when every proper football supporter knew that the game, although flawed, was still close to beautiful. At least then you could celebrate a goal unconditionally. Remember that? As long as the linesman flag stayed down, then it was time to go mental and jump around with the bloke next to you. I yearn for that again to be honest. Anyway, feel better now I've got that off my chest. Congratulations to Villa and I'm sure we'll beat Man U on Tuesday without needing any help from VAR.
  2. Please do not listen to these people calling for protests. Now is not the time to make the atmosphere any more toxic than it already is. As some people have already pointed out, who exactly are we going to get in to turn this season around? Yes, Pellegrino is struggling to get this bunch of players performing but so did the guy before him. Yes, we are in a precarious position but this crisis has its origins prior to Pellegrino. Can I just remind everyone that we are supporters of Southampton Football Club and the club is the most important thing here, not individual staff within the club. I have supported Saints for 50 years, all my life, and I go to every game to SUPPORT the team. I stand in the Northam every week and some of the rubbish I hear out of so called supporters beggars belief. If you ask me our performance as supporters of the club has been pretty awful this season, and maybe its us who needs to perform better to get us out of this crisis. I, for one, will be supporting and not protesting this Sunday.
  3. On the plus side, I was in the Markus Liebherr suite and got very very drunk - and it cost me nothing. Was the game any good?
  4. 1. Ban women from St. Mary's - for obvious reasons. 2. Sack the whole board and replace them with Matt le Tiss, Franny Benali and my mate Dangerous Dave. 3. Make Spam Fritters available on the menu. 4. Anyone wearing a half and half scarf should be banned for life. 5. Subsidise away tickets and travel.
  5. Who are you lot to tell someone what's funny and what's not? Surely this is a personal thing? Its people like you that got Benny Hill kicked off TV....
  6. Did you only start masturbating when you were 12?
  7. We are crap, so are Norwich. 5-4 home win
  8. Newsflash!! Southampton FC have lost 1-0 away from home before. Supporting your team is a lifetime journey full of highs and lows - enjoy the ride.....
  9. Am I the only one who was not really that disappointed to lose last night? I am normally angry and start kicking things when Saints lose, but last night just I just very apathetic about the whole thing. Let's face it, we are probably better off out of Europe, despite what everyone says it HAS been a huge distraction and our team and management already looks mentally tired trying to deal with it. At least now we can start putting our efforts into moving up the league table. I predict an immediate improvement in league form now the distraction of Europe has gone.
  10. Yes, my mistake - It felt like a defeat
  11. Midtjylland will adopt the same tactics as in the first leg, so we have to be canny and not give away any cheap free kicks to enable them 'fill the box' and whip those dangerous balls in. They were doing a version of the 'high press' in the first game and forcing us to go long, so Pelle will be important for us tonight. It won't be a pretty game, but I think we are improving with each game so I am sure we can sneak a narrow victory. 2-1 (Pelle, Rodriguez) to Saints and a victory on away goals...
