Not sure if this is the thread really but is Carl Martin still on the coaching staff does anyone know?

Smallbone.

Yep, totally agree. No fault of any of the new management team or the young players, just an awkward set back/consequence of an unsettled season and desire for quick promotion. Would also point out that due to the lack of quality in the academy currently over 18/19 that Doyle seems to be the only small collateral damage it’s really setback.

Brighton are giving younger players than we are more chances at a higher level. Fact.
-
Dibling, Sam Amo-Ayew and Meghoma are getting sub appearances when 4-1 up and 1 cup game so far. Which might be fine for them but I believe they are a year younger than Kamari. I think the injury came at an awful time for him because he may well have put a case forward to be more involved, but his contract is up in 6 months and he needed to make a decision. Not least because I imagine Saints wanted more than the nominal fee they would get in the summer. I can’t imagine he was at all tempted to commit to a club for a few more years he’s yet to get a chance at, especially when a more suitable club is offering him one.

I hate to break it to all of you but Brighton have proven they have a clear pathway for younger players getting game time more than we do, if they deem them good enough. They currently have 18 and 19 year old academy products playing regularly for them. There's literally no evidence for us doing that and based on the fact that he's been wanting to see that since last season, I suspect when it comes to decision time as to whether to stay or go, it was quite an easy decision. Like I said previously, the timing of the injury is clearly bad timing for both parties, but this kid has been wanting evidence for more than just this season, and on the basis that we spent last season telling our own youngsters to wait whilst signing other clubs, changing plans 3 times throughout the season and still failing to deliver results or game time, he's probably deemed he's not seen it. Just an incredible attitude to have for a kid daring to show some ambition and confidence in himself. The kid fancies having a crack at mens football and his contract is running out. We want a fee and he wants clarity, it's the best time for a decision to be made and as I've stated above, he's gone to a club he knows he'll get a chance at if he proves himself.

He was miffed last season so the injury has got in the way of a resolution. Just unfortunate timing rather than anything being off. And there is plenty of evidence at Brighton you’ll get a chance if you’re good enough so criticising the lads choice to go there is odd. Less than 6 months on his contract, we want a fee and he wants to settle down with a pathway. Works for everyone.

Yeah I called this a little while ago. Seemed inevitable and probably one that all sides couldn’t do much about. Victim of bad season last year when he wanted 1st team football (Same with JJM) and then the injury costing him when he was probably convinced to stay in the summer. Surprised it’s Brighton but don’t see how anyone can criticise him or the club here. Seemed like the club convinced him in the summer he’ll have an opportunity, the injury came and team is settled so unable to cater for young players who want a proper chance now (would suggest Dibling/Amo-Ayew etc are slightly younger and have more time on their hands).

I'm intrigued to hear your thoughts on Joachim Kayi Sanda please. How good can he be and if it's positive could he end up here?
-
There are males on Soccer Saturday who have made a career out of this gimmick. Good luck to her.

Suspect he starts alongside Stephens like he did in the previous round tbh. Not Stephen's biggest fan but don't see the issue with his sub today. We were comfortable at that time, defender is on a yellow, another defender on the bench who needs game time, makes sense. Just so happened he played badly, that happens, keeper stepped up and we got through it. No issues.
-
I think he's excellent and looking forward to hopefully seeing him test himself next year in the PL and I also agree he played well today. But he did quite literally give the ball away more than most today.
-
Not sure how he got that to be fair. Gave the ball away more than most.

My point still stands fwiw. He's not lost at Chelsea just because he's not in the first team at the age of 17/18. There's plenty at this club of that age not in the first team, and they aren't lost. He wasn't given chances he wanted here and he went elsewhere. We've praised many young players signing for us for doing the same, the difference being he moved upwards.
-
Hadn't realised he was back yet, my bad. And fwiw he absolutely had no issues backing himself at doing a Bale, Walcott, Chamberlain but wasn't given a chance when he evidently felt he deserved one (debatable of course) and that led him to wanting to leave.
-
Exactly this. People wrongly assumed what we were seeing was the end product of what Martin was aiming to bring us. I personally thought the improvement we made from last season to those first couple of months, even the bad times, was massive and gave me hope that the more he was allowed to coach them the better they would become. Still think the personnel in the squad is limited in terms of quality at the top level but keep Martin working on their improvements and keep giving him better players each window and keep watching us improve.

Still finding the football entertaining. Hope the people who mocked me are too.

Are you talking about Rasmus? Because if so, you're going to hate it when you find out.

Morgan is injured, quite a serious one soon after he joined Chelsea so lets not start waffling about how he's lost in Chelsea's system. Also find it really funny when people have a pop at young players daring to have ambition and backing themselves to be a success at a big club. Might not be common or an easy pathway but if JJM's serious injury took place whilst he was here, not only would his career be set back but he'd be years away from a dream move to a big club. When kids make moves they are just being ambitious and backing themselves, it's not a pathway for everyone, it's really easy to say "just stay and make a name for yourself here" but there's no guarantee that happens and they might be losing a big opportunity they won't get again. Feels like the "all about the money" stuff is just far too easy to say. I would also point out you only need to look at some of the players we have signed from City to see the education you get at a top level youth team and the levels you can reach. It has it's perks even if you don't make the first team. Also, as a side note, I saw some people having a pop at giving Vokins minutes on Twitter. The idea you just drop and ignore someone who came through the academy is really moronic on so many levels.

Find two together and put yours on the exchange.

Note the article isn’t his CV.

I think he didn't want to sign one last year because he wanted evidence he would get game time this season. The injury has come at an awful time in that regard as now he's got a lot of work on to get into the side and doubt he'll sign one if he doesn't. Think it could just be unfortunate timing of events that lead to him leaving. Germany mentioned last season.
-
Neither would be the smart guess.

Anyone with any info on Kami Doyle? Lack of news on him suggests he's off to me.
