Austin's movement in the final third is good, everyone has said that. He makes good runs, and of course if he gets on the ball he is always a threat. Its just the other 2/3 of the pitch that is the problem I think vs Cardiff, and likely some others, Austin could be the choice. Especially after Long's play last week. Ralph will probably play who the match dictates. High pressing, counter play, that will be Long as the starter.

Yep, I am thinking Austin goes into the lineup instead of Long (assuming Ings is out). The pictures never lie!

If Ings is so/so I'd rather see him sit for Cardiff. We can potentially win without him, and then he gets a good 2 weeks more to rest.

I thought he started slow but grew into the match. In the end he did ok. He's a young guy who did ok, and will hopefully get better. However I am a little amazed at the amount of hoopla his play has gotten. He was ok and is promising. To me thats it.

If Ings can't go, I'd bet you that Austin starts ahead of Long. Cardiff are a team we should control the game versus, which means opportunities in the offensive end, and coming off of Long's shocker I wager Ralphy goes for the scorer. Hoepfully get a lead and then bring in Long to run around aimlessly at the end

Honestly Burnley could have scored 3 or 4. We scored on pretty much our only shot. I'll take the point

Hudds is one of the poorest PL sides we've seen in the past number of seasons. I think they may get relegated out of the Championship too next season

Did Long actually come on the pitch for Ings? I don't remember seeing him out there. Maybe we just played with 10?

Not looking good. What was Ings injury? He walked off by himself. Did they give any report? Love the Burnley players freaking out on every ref call now. They are going to lose control.

I think Ralph makes a good point. He said he likes the team now, its already been reduced, and he doesn't want Austin to go. He said Austin is his best finisher (paraphrasing), and that when the game calls for goals (especially around the box) he's in. Ralph clearly sees Austins strengths and weaknesses, and can see what value he brings the club. Weaker teams, and Championship teams, would have him in all the time, but here with Redmond/Ings/etc. this is where Austin fits. The rub is of course Austin wants to start, so thats something he needs to come to grips with if he wants to stay.

He'll probably move on over the summer. Then someone will offer a permanent deal rather than a loan.
