Ha ha ha. Very good, very good indeed.
-
Yes Stephens. He let his man run off him.
-
The player we should have signed on loan, rather than Theo. Will add a touch of creativity and class to our midfield, something were lacking. Won’t be cheap, but a try before you buy there’s little to no risk. Remember, a lot turned their nose up at lingard and look how he’s done in the right environment. A big yes from me.
-
Come on. The pathway. Youre ignoring the question. You’re an advocate of it and use it as an excuse as to why we shouldn’t sign players. Which means 2 first team players for each position will ruin the pathway... right?
-
Of full first team professionals who are good enough to be relied upon, it is. I don’t think i know any players who would join us to be 4th choice. What about the pathway?
-
Meh. Absolutely Great under Koeman, been pretty average since. Thanks for the service but time to move on and best for both parties. Will no doubt end up at a big club. Previously didn’t want to move away from his Surrey home, so it’ll be interesting to see where he goes and if that’s changed.
-
Also, What about this Pathway you continually bang on about. Surely having 2 players for each position will block ‘the pathway’ for those coming through.
-
We’re not going to have 2 dedicated players for each position. It’s not feasible for a club our size and would result in large periods of non game time for some players. Just Like Theo can also be considered a striker, or a full back like Williams who can play either side, we will have players who cover a number of positions. 3 CM’s + Armstrong is more than adequate. Especially on the assumption we’ll likely add depth and quality to the ‘number 10’ role.
-
Why doesn’t it?
-
Seemed to do alright with long next time him for large parts of last season IIRC (memory might be skewed, but I’m pretty sure Long was the preferred choice over Che up until the lockdown pretty much).
-
I can’t see us getting a CM, personally. I think Ralph rates Armstrong in there as cover if needed. We miss Romeu so much, so I guess it all depends on his recovery. A LB, cover for L/RB a creative attacking midfielder and a striker (2 if ings goes) is a must though.
-
We’re a better team when Danny is playing up front, simple as that.
-
I can’t be bothered to read the whole post, but in terms of composure in front of goal, he very much is. I can’t remember the last time we went 1-1 with the keeper and stuck it away? Genuine question, when was the last time?
-
Probably the fact he’s had a contract offer on the table for 6 months and it remains unsigned.
-
Are you suggesting that they didn’t watch the player as well?
-
It’s not being scared of stats. It’s just that they don’t paint a full picture. He’s absolutely dreadful in front of goal when he has time to think about it. Stats won’t tell you that but watching the game will.
-
Whatever XG says, he’s not a below average finisher, he’s a very poor finisher. Lacks composure (this is something that comes naturally and you can’t coach) and his goals are boosted by his strange ability to only seem to stick the hard ones away. Stats don’t paint the full picture, actually watching week in week out will tell you that. We can get a creative midfielder to stick them on a plate for him, but history would suggest that he’ll miss. As I’ve said, his play and work rate up until the 18 yard box is very good, but we’re not good enough as a team to have a striker who just isn’t very good at scoring goals.
-
Well I’m sure if there is any interest, the club would listen to offers, if that assures you at all.
-
Who’s going to buy him? It makes me laugh when people throw comments out like he should be sold. I’d imagine he’s reluctant to drop to the championship and If he’s not good enough for us, what other premier league team will fork out £10m or so for him?
-
I get the point around his hold up play etc. But he does actually get in some very good positions (credit to him for that) and has a lot of opportunities to score for a ‘second striker’. He really needs to start taking those opportunities, regardless of how good his hold up play is.
-
I agree. If you watch him, he makes a lot of very good out to in runs (like that he scored against Chelsea). The trouble is, we don’t have anyone good enough to find him. creates a lot of room KWP though.
-
As does everyone. The trouble is we won’t have ings next season and without him, Adams cannot be relied upon to score goals. Adams played very well tonight though, took his chance well.
-
When he wants to be, he’s Irreplaceable and it’s a massive concern.

We can’t offer European football though pal.
