There's talk within Preston North End circles that they're signing Matsuki on loan. It seems to stem from this post on their forums. So probably nothing.

Looks a decent enough signing but definitely a cheaper option that, along with Quarshie and Downs, flys in the face of Spors' supposed philiosophy of a preference to domestic signings. He had a good season in the Bundesliga so I think the outrage is unjustified but we definitely need to start bringing in some known quantities along the lines of an Azaz or Fellows.

It's a nice thought.

Hajime Moriyasu was supposedly the national coach Will Still was alluding to about only picking players from 1st divisions. He encouraged Sugawara to leave so probably won't put much weight on Matsuki's Championship performances.

This is Sport Republic we're talking about. They wouldn't even spend that on a forward when we were in the Premier League. It's far more their style to buy two mediocre players for £10m each than to buy one good player for £20m.

I was teasing because that's the line you keep repeating whenever someone passes judgement on our transfer window so far but I should have known I'd get a guardian link in return...

That's about as good as I expected. Livromento, who impressed me more although he was one year older, was sold for £32m + £8m addons. Given this deal is straight profit for PSR and we get a decent sell-on clause, it's a good fee in the end in my view . Let's not forget he's been well off the boil for over 6 months now. It will be interesting to see how he handles the expectation. Personally, I think we've pulled Everton's pants down here but only time will tell.

Special mention to Flynn Downes for being especially shit today. Constantly giving the ball away and only passing the way he's facing (backwards) even in the 95th minute.

Stoke absolutely deserve the win. Sacrificed the first half with Armstrong as a lone striker. Back 3 doesn't work and never will. And we still don't know how to break down 10 men.
