  1. This is a little off-topic, I may create a new post.
  2. Newcastle appear to have problems making shots happen. Scored all their goals against us nevertheless.

  5. We're third in shots taken, you don't really need much more data to work the rest out for yourself! (Though as it happens I am plugged Whoscored.com data into a spreadsheet for a second).
  6. Rooney's nursing a dodgy hamstring, if he gets through the warm up we should spend 10 minutes "accidentally" miscontrolling balls for him to stretch for. Though if Martial's pace is the alternative maybe we'll be better off just letting him harumph around the place.
  7. Yeah, I read the rest of the thread after completing the survey, when it became evident. Weirdly despite the fact that I was in the front row of the away end and the ad board was therefore about half my view of the game, I didn't notice this - presumably because the ads in front of us were back to back with the ads aimed at the tv audience and contrained the kind of "Sandwell and Smethwick Sandwiches" local ads aimed at people actually in the ground.

I heard that, fizzled out because it isn't "clever" like singing "Our Claus" is. It would be like having another player called Rickie up front who was 5ft 8 or something, when we were already in the Premier League, and who didn't wear number 7, and trying to make his song fit.
  9. I think this is the closest you're going to get to any pictures other than the ones you take yourself: St Mirren keeper's shirt from the same tournament.
  10. Any idea how long after the match that happened? Seems weird to me that he'd get carried off in the first 20 minutes and still be around to be upset in front of the manager (unless that was half time). He sure as hell didn't walk to get his gear from the changing room either, so guessing his representative(s) got all that together for him. I can just see parks players getting loaded into the ambulance yelling instructions about which jeans their mobile is in...
  11. Well... Lallana wasn't likely to improve much but signed for a club where it's easy to get cycled out. Lots more money though and a move to the likes of Villa next. Shaw will improve with matches and playing against CL opponents (when fit again). Lambert was on borrowed time long before we sold him Lovren was as bad before us as after us, that was a Schneiderlin/Fonte thing. Clyne will improve from playing European opposition - which he could have done at Saints, but for lots less money. My thoughts are that we'll continue to sell players who want to get more money and maybe at some point we might even consider paying more money and achieving something, but for now being in the top half of the Prem and sustainable with a high turnover of good players is as good as it'll get. In terms of signings - we will sign players with Europa League experience from European clubs and improve their wages, and players rejected by the top 4 after being in their academy/reserves/out on loan and match or improve their wages. And that's about it.
  12. The grammar and vocab makes it seem like he's been replaced with an indestructible PR droid to be honest.
  13. I assume we're going to roll over so Schneiderlin can have a happy return.
  14. I'm still trying to work out if it was him or a PR rep and what the protocol was - you'd expect a double leg break to be taken to a hospital or private clinic, but Van Gaal said he was "crying in the dressing room" which must have been after the match. So he didn't leave the stadium, which may be fair enough as UEFA Elite stadia probably have some top medical facilities in them. They may even have wanted him to travel back with the team. Being still in the area near his possessions kind of explains how he was able to get his phone, but doesn't really cover the stuff about being in screaming agony yet coherent enough to tweet, or at least possibly dictate a tweet which seems a fair bit more intelligent than his usual output. Fortunately there's already a thread about this.
  15. Since 15:00 13th September 2015 they've been on sale to "supporters who have purchased a ticket for at least one home game since the beginning of the 2012/13 season." which is General Sale to people on the database, right?
  16. Am I the only one that thinks it's a shame for him but other than that isn't really interested in it? The fact I don't watch CL and haven't bothered to actually watch it (I get the idea) might have something to do with this. Also, LOL at the person saying an impact injury which breaks two bones is due to being "injury prone".
  17. And ever present apart from that. They rotated him out against Liverpool for tactical reasons best left to Van Gaal to explain, and he probably didn't play yesterday because he's definitely playing against us. Man U's three top-notch central midfielders with similar roles are going to sit a few out, they all have plus and minuses to utilise.

It's more the bizarre inability of Saints fans to use the word "Saints" instead of the predominant colour of the home kit when we play away. "Come on you reds" is stupid when we're not playing in red, "come on you Saints" works at all times. I'm still waiting on "GREEEEEN ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRMY" to catch on. Preferably in the most wurzelly accent possible.
  19. That was just speculation on his part based on July 26th 2014 thinking.
  20. I know we've been over this a few times, but it's the week of the match, and there are still tickets for the match against everyone's favourite "can you get me tickets mate" team, Manchester United. Slightly different situation, but restrictive criteria meant it took nearly 2 weeks to sell out the 450 Midtjylland away tickets. Does the fact the club has said the Man U game will NOT go to general sale, presumably to support their membership scheme priority charge, show smart thinking in driving up demand and maybe forcing a few people to buy memberships, or are they just being way too restrictive and costing themselves money in the long run from the kind of plastic part-timers who now can't get a ticket and just might get hooked more often? And what does it say about the number of memberships, tv coverage, Sunday drinking and every other thread drift..?

Also FWIW, I don't think we sing any more or less than in the Championship or L1, and I'm sure as hell glad I'm less likely to end up standing next to some of the teenage "can't handle their drink and fight mates/fellow supporters and try and tell people they should be singing more" tosspots floating around in those days.

I think you'll find that VVD has a song to the tune of "Chim-chiminee". At least to about 10 people near me at West Brom. Interesting ignoring of existing JWP, Mane, Pelle and Rodriguez songs (and the Wanyama one we'd already been using for a year before we got another one) to fit the agenda there. For those paying even less attention than Saint86, they are: Wanyama- originally the Celtic song which also used to be Big Daddy's wrestling entrance music JWP "Kumbaya/Marians Pahars" Mane "Ohhhhh Sadio Mane" (Seven Nation Army) and "Radio Gaga" (rare but heard) Rodriguez - I just can't get enough Pelle - both "duh duh duh duh Graziano" (Pigbag) and the awful "It's magic you know... Tadic and Graziano"
  23. We'd have got (at a guess) Augsburg's group, they seemed to have the nearest coefficient. I can't pretend to give a crap any more, it was fun while it lasted but I'm happier about all the European clubs we're facing on the weekend after European games now, that would have been impossible for us to manage if we'd made the group stages.
  24. Fairly confident we'll be the only team in an Under Armour shirt wearing Saints' colours next season. I'd love to say "red and white stripes" but my faith in that still hasn't recovered from 2012-14 yet.
