They always remove the previous season's numbers on the squad page before the new ones, especially if there are shirts on sale, they don't want people getting the wrong number on because "the website says..." , it's just crappy customer service. Mind you, so is all the sizes being completely wrong and the Megastore not having the most popular size (XXL)on Saturday because it isn't usually the most popular size...

Or, you know, just think it and not bow down to the stupid short-termist panickers by making endless statements of the exact same thing on a daily basis. Maybe we should have a "code red/amber/green" flag outside St Mary's so the stress heads could run down there and check if everything was nice or not?

The money is already in the club and the players are assets which would be sold with the club. If you sell players the value of the club decreases. There is no logic whatsoever to that theory.
-
There is absolutely no need for the club to make a statement. What are you expecting them to say? "We sold lots of players who didn't really want to be here for lots of money and are now reinvesting in the playing staff"? They already said that and people are choosing not to believe it. I'd far rather they got on with the business of signing players than placating the flappers.

You won't get a more accurate reflection of the actual odds than an exchange market like Betfair.
-
We were 7/1 to be relegated on Friday, 6/1 today. It's the unknown factor of us possibly spending the money that is keeping us at decent odds. We were also shortest odds to win the League without the top 7 a fortnight ago, we've gone out a fair bit on that one.

Y'see, there are two problems with this argument. 1 Without the player sales, the club is worth more so the net worth of the club is exactly the same overall and 2 Cortese didn't have anyone when he could have offered to take over if Katharina was actually interested in selling.
-
I'd be inclined to give them more of the benefit of the doubt if we had unveiled more signings and agreed fewer players leaving - fundamentally the "none selling until there's a replacement signed up" is where it's going wrong. Cover that off and the players we sign are cheaper and more likely to come to begin with.
-
The only way he was staying was without the current owner staying in charge. Under him we wouldn't have had Katharina's backing to pay the day to day wages, so we'd have been selling anyway.
-
God you're stupid. Cortese left because he knew he couldn't fulfil the bullsh11t he'd been spinning to get players to sign. It's no coincidence that he bailed when our season was guaranteed to come to nothing, and not a few months earlier when we were top 3.

Do we have one of the top 5 best academies in Europe?
The9 replied to Wiggles31's topic in The Saints
That's nonsense and you know it. You're saying Walcott, Bale and Oxlade-Chamberlain wouldn't look good in top 4 clubs, when all of them play for top 4 (or better) clubs. Then there's Lallana and Shaw, who have joined sides above us. Add to that Premier League: Calum Chambers (Southampton) Nathan Dyer (Swansea) James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) (Mike Williamson (Newcastle)) Harrison Reed (Southampton) Lloyd Isgrove (Southampton) Sam Gallagher (Southampton) Chris Baird (West Bromwich Albion) Championship Andrew Surman (Norwich - still, amazingly) (Kenwyne Jones (Cardiff City)) Leon Best (Blackburn) Dexter Blackstock (Nottingham F) Simon Gillett (Nottingham F) Oscar Gobern (Huddersfield) Matt Mills (Bolton) Scott McDonald (Millwall) David McGoldrick (Ipswich) Darryl Flahavan (Bournemouth) Harlee Dean (Brentford) League One: Lloyd James (Leyton O) Nile Ranger (Swindon) Ben Reeves (MK Dons) Martin Cranie (Barnsley) Joseph Mills (Oldham) Oliver Lancashire (Rochdale) (Aaron Martin (Yeovil)) Sam Hoskins (Yeovil) League Two: Arron Davies (Exeter) Matt Oakley (Exeter) Matt Paterson (Aldershot) Michael Poke (Skate, lol) Ryan Tafazolli (Mansfield) Plus Tim Sparv who plays in Denmark now and Garry Monk, Brian Howard, Wayne Bridge, and (cough) Kevin Phillips who have all recently retired. -
He was clearly aware of this when he came in.

News to me. There was this ONE comment when Sharp, having been told to look elsewhere by Pochettino, was quoted saying he'd like to play for Celtic, and a few articles after that spun from a Celtic perspective, but nothing suggesting an offer: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/331546/Southampton-striker-Billy-Sharp-attracted-to-Celtic-s-big-European-nights
-
Top 8 Premier League side with an excellent academy - what's not to like? A lot of top modern managers have tried their luck in the Prem on one occasion or other. And Tim Sherwood.
-
Well, no, as we've never shown any inclination to sell Sharp. I would think his AM and sub position pre-season so far suggests he won't be starting.
-
Just for the record, Clyne AND Chambers featured in the same match for Saints in 9 matches last season: W1 D4 L4 - Clyne and Chambers replaced each other in 5 of those, and in 4 one of them replaced Shaw and they were on the pitch at the same time. So Clyne covered left back 4 times last season - but there's no Shaw and no replacement yet.
-
Ignoring the context here, it's an interesting one about picking a player when being sold, I'm still bewildered that Borini played for Liverpool yesterday (and got injured) with a £14m bid from Sunderland on the table and Borini clearly having no future at Liverpool.
-
Chambers was chosen at right back ahead of Clyne in plenty of matches last season. Though that was under a different manager and is pretty much irrelevant anyway - what is relevant is that without Chambers, Clyne couldn't cover left back. Not that this rumour has any substance anyway...
-
I can't imagine we'd sell Fonte with the Lovren sale almost certainly still pending because we can't pin down a replacement yet.
-
Cardiff haven't played in the Welsh Cup for 18 years. They were invited in 2011 but declined, and UEFA have since clarified that clubs based in Wales who play in English competitions can only qualify for Europe through English competitions, so there's no point in them entering (and the FAW are more than happy to be represented by crappy clubs playing in their poxy competitions).
-
Completely disagree. Yoshida has been useless in the Prem more often than he's been good, and was utterly awful at the World Cup in EVERY match too.

Just a quick glance around... It sounds like utter borax to me.

Well we'll definitely not expect him to be playing against Bournemouth tonight then...
