FRAY Bentos, FFS, that's where Gaston's from - we don't want Gaston sodding off as well... do we?
-
Pretty sure Man City would struggle with their team that's training at the moment too. Probably half of them are still playing in the World Cup or having an extended break due to it.
-
Current first team with players who are currently still here is (i.e. including the "not yet lefts") Boruc; Chambers, Fonte, Lovren, Clyne; Schneiderlin, Cork; Ward-Prowse, S Davis, Ramirez; Osvaldo Subs: K Davis, Hooiveld, Yoshida, Wanyama, Reed, Sims/Targett, Gallagher/Mayuka/Sharp. That's a top half first XI, provided we don't get any injuries, ever and no-one else leaves. Take Lovren out and we look like relegation candidates. Take Osvaldo out and you wonder where the goals will come from. Schneiderlin at least is covered by Wanyama, but there's no depth at all then if we lose anyone else. Rodriguez would be back in there if fit, obviously.

So far 90% like, but 50% of them won't be buying it, could be price or any number of other things.
-
£50 is steep, but people will pay it. You seem to have forgotten that brands pay clubs to supply their kit and do indeed get all the associated branding and advertising as part of that deal - this season we don't have that revenue stream and they've actually had to pay to have the kit made, so there's a shortfall, and it's clearly gone onto the retail price of the kit. On the bright side, no-one else has done Saints' distribution for years, so there are no additional costs there. I'd be careful about who is making themselves look stupid.
-
I don't think it's "wrong", but I also don't think there's many of them out there for the match shirt - maybe for the training kit.
-
I haven't seen anyone say that yet. EDIT: Other than the sarcastic post above anyway.
-
Why? Because he thinks that within the parameters of football shirts looking classy, the shirt looks classy? It's no DJ and dress shirt, but as far as football shirts go, there are a lot of more plasticky, more shiny, worse designed, logo-laden, clashing, ugly patterned ones out there. This is indeed, quite decent. There's now a poll (at least I hope there will be soon), so you can vote and we'll see how people generally feel about it...

The kit thread is winding down, but as you'll see below, we do this every year. Previous results below, which give an insight into how people felt in previous years. Oh, the "who likes stripes?" thing with him with crazy hair? Yeah, had forgotten about that, was looking at more recent stuff. Thing is, it's always an easy "go to" for a load of likes, I didn't read too much into it - the striped scarves at Swansea and Home and Heart logo having stripes on it were the biggest clues for me in hindsight. Interesting to note that my comments about what Krueger said about stripes at the Awards also now make sense again. Very good that the board identified that the red was really not what most Saints fans wanted or expected and went to the effort of getting something else produced.
-
Relief that the board "get it" mostly. Half an hour of interest in design and details after kit unveil, ten minutes of resignation to the prices, a few copies of pics to my phone, a bunch of random brain dumping about it on here, and now forget all about it for a few weeks until it can be bought, other than hopefully some new signings holding or wearing it. I'm not even in Southampton on kit launch day, ironically I'll be at the fans' football competition in Preston (where the team will still be wearing the 2011 striped shirts, having avoided all red shirt "upgrades" in the meantime). Some other time it might actually be a nice viral campaign to debut the new kit on a fans' team, but this year there would be far too many jokes about them being the only players we have left...
-
Nice to see that the videos and player promos have actually got the sponsor physically on the shirt this year, as opposed to the smoke and mirrors, editing and photoshop they had to use as there wasn't a sponsor last summer... and I bet we actually have the shorts pictured as opposed to a completely different style from those in some of the photos as was the case with the away and GK kits last season.
-
Funny you should say that... Translates as "in complete denial about club's normal colours AND the wishes of the vast majority of fans". The ridiculous relegation thing has already been dissected above.
-
But we've also been relegated every other time in the club's history NOT having red sleeves, it's such pointless negativity.
-
What did he say and when? I've seen he's got a kit pic on there now, but he didn't upload that til 10am.
-
You're not alone, you're just in a very small minority.
-
I actually prefer the blocked off black bits because there's no other black feature on the shirt - plus when it comes to sponsor's logos, you don't want stray narrow lettering bits that can come detached or break off if they're not "ironed on" properly.
-
The collar is a very similar design to the Umbro one we had recently, and the diagonal patterning on the red stripes is similar too. If it had white sleeves and a weird bit across the top of the back it would be almost the same.
-
The "relegation kit" thing is such utter bo11ocks as well, we wore red sleeves plenty of times without getting relegated before that, and indeed in the 2012/13 season. We got relegated from the Championship with a fully striped shirt, which the following season we won the JPT in. There is no correlation whatsoever, it's just babyish whining for the sake of it.
-
Absolutely NOT TRUE.
-
International shirts are required to have numbers on the front, Prem shirts do not, and I think it's actually against the regulations. Also, they'd need to have a whole different set of smaller numbers, as they couldn't use the white ones from the shorts because of the partial white background. Safe to say we won't be doing that then.
-
Actually I think it needs the sponsor for a much needed black bit - if I was splitting hairs I'd have liked to see either a black collar or black trim. Without the sponsor it's a bit too "just" red and white, and it needs something to link the shirt to the black shorts. As it is, it all pulls together well.
-
Has anyone checked the collar for a stretchy bit?
-
Strange that, as Rodriguez has tweeted about how much he likes it. In a preseason where none of the players have committed to even playing for the club, I'd say that was a pretty big deal.
-
They're all one season kits nowadays, even if we'd stayed with adidas it would have still been a one year kit.
