Oh and all that.
-
I think you'll find that MINTY is the voice of reason, and has been for a very long time.
-
I can count the number of American Stoke and Sunderland fans I know who have started watching the team specifically because of their colours on the fingers of no hands.
-
One problem with that. Shaw wore 23. Another problem (albeit not much of one), Yoshida wears 3 and he hasn't gone yet. Though I'd be offering him his international number of 22 and bumping Chambers up to at least 12. (To me) it'll be interesting to see if Koeman has a "numbers plan" or if the numbers thing is a Les Reed feature - Adkins and Pochettino both seemed to stick loosely to sensible-ish numbering, with GKs mostly 1,(21),31 FBs 2,12,22 and 3,13,23, CBs with 5,6,15,16,25,26, DMs with 4,14,(24) CMs with 8,10,16,18,20 (plus 21) and attackers with 7,9,11,17,19,27,29. There were the odd exceptions, with Gazzaniga taking 12 and Guly 21, plus Yoshida has 3 as a pretend full back because he likes the number and it was free and in the first XI at the time, but that's mostly reasonable. Numbers will have to be announced before the shirt's on sale, so they have about 11 days to sign some players!

Absolutely superb in taking us to the Premier League and not looking out of place when we arrived. Plus a £3m profit.
-
Thanks Forever, Markus.

Hardly anyone outside the club and its fans gives a toss about its kit. Fortunately, we do.
-
Marco Almeida was Portuguese, FFS. Just what Thierry Henry needed to break his English goalscoring duck.
-
Tell that to all the people with the stitching falling off last season's kit.
-
I suspect if I asked my American friends if the colour of the kit was a factor in their choice of English team, they'd assume I was taking the p1ss. I shall ask. My sample will be 2, and they're both Spurs fans.
-
I wouldn't - with the parachutes now, they're good for a full 3 years paying their Prem squad - even before the recent hike you could have 2 years with the Prem squad on the same money without worrying about admin if you didn't go up. It's the player's decision on whether they want to risk being a "Championship player" when their next contract renewal is up basically.
-
Neither of those keepers is worth over £12m, and even that's silly money. They are the two I'd be most interested in us signing though.
-
Not to mention all the Chivas (Guadalajara) fans in California. Oh, and I chose Saints, I had no Southampton ties before 1990 and I absolutely wouldn't want us to play in a plain coloured kit at the expense of stripes. The kit had little bearing on that initial decision though, so I regard it as a total red (and white?) herring.

Southampton 2014-15 Pre-Season Date Match Time Venue 17 July Southampton vs Seoul 20 July Southampton vs Al Jazira XI 24 July Southampton vs Beijing Guoan 27 July Southampton vs Melbourne Victory 08 August Southampton vs TBC Looks like an hilarious WUM decided we should be marketing ourselves in South Korea, Dubai, China, Australia and... well, TBC is the most accurate.

Good to see Batman outright confirming he is DellDays on the Ugly, not that we didn't know.
-
What's "horrific" about this? Exactly the sort of kit I'd have wanted Saints in if we were still with adidas - if maybe lacking a bit of black.
-
See? (Actually a couple of times, Watford and Wolves, still not white socks though). We only wore this once, but I'm not suggesting we wear it full time...
-
Why, as we've never, EVER had that combination? Actually, I think there was one game in L1 in 2009/10, but those socks were hooped.
-
All this thread has done for me is made me consider whether circling sharks or vultures are more of a concern. I'm going for sharks, because they might actually attack you when you were ok, if the vultures are involved you've already had it. Though if you survive the sharks and then the vultures have a pop, well, that's unlucky, and you can't blame Les Reed for that. Though maybe buying your drinking water and/or shark tank when the prices were cheaper and before everyone knew you really needed them might have been an idea? Or something.
-
I absolutely guarantee that none of those sides will wear this kit, not even the same kit with a different badge. How inventive do you want us to be? We don't wear the same colour shorts and socks as any of the sides in similar kit in the same division - Liverpool had last season with a team that looked so much like them they've bid for a third of the team.
-
It IS a perfectly reasonable comeback.
-
Already mentioned this - I like it as there's no other black on the kit - in practical terms it also means there are no dangling loose thin letters to unstick and/or fall off. Also, the block of black prevents the white lettering being outlined on a white background. The only things I don't really like are the complete absence of the Saints Apparel (or any other) logo to give it balance, and the lack of black trim.
-
Rather than Bristol City, Swindon or Middlesbrough? Tragic.
-
I can only go from what the OS page announcing the kit says. I have assumed the reason it's high is because we won't be receiving any money from adidas this season for the privilege of producing our kit and getting their logo all over the telly during our matches. I am not joking.
