  1. Presumably (without signing anyone else), we play with Mayuka up top and reap the benefits of Gaston having someone to pass to. Or we could use Rodriguez there - he's no kind of target man, but as the gameplan involves busting a gut to close down in the attacking third and rapidly transition the ball to players in scoring positions when the opposition is still out of position, you'd have to expect a hard-working and pacy runner in behind to have obvious benefits.
  2. For me, because they're in the same division as my home town club, the mighty and all-conquering Newport County AFC, who have not lost a Football League match for over 25 years.
  3. They have the money of the deluded islanders already, all at ridiculously short odds, now they're after the cash of the gullible by lengthening the odds. I bet you can't get 66/1 on them going down any more now either.
  4. Couldn't tell, but are these referring to the same thing ?
  5. I am inquisitive as to what the characteristics of an "acquisitive" person are. There's something for everyone in this. Needed more about Anelka thieving shirts for his collection though... Also, is no-one going to "CRACKERJACK!!!!!" in response ? Can't believe the rest of you didn't pick up on that. CRACKERJACK!
  6. Hmmm, this news has "buying new laptop" implications.
  7. Cool, glad you sorted it - did you say you're running it on Windows 8 ? I didn't even think it was compatible !
  8. Yeah, you pretend that wasn't the SECOND hit.
  9. Yeah, looked in there, cheers tho.
  10. Yeah, Google "pr0" (that's a zero).
  11. Seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth too, Gillingham offered him a contract but he doesn't seem to have signed it.
  12. January's transfer failings suggest our transfer policy is very much of the "eggs in one basket" type.
  13. Bit of site promotion in there too...
  14. Hi peeps, I was at Newport v Accrington today, and apart from the collateral damage to James Beattie, it was a wonderful day for Football in League 2. We were all loving the news from Fratton that was filtering through. Anyway, you may have seen they did some hilarious mural pre-match proclaiming "OURS" across the one stand, not true etc but anyway not even the point after today's result... I have had a little photoshop...
  15. LA Galaxy away shirt is too. These all came out in March-ish - MLS is usually where we see next season's adidas kit templates first, but it's a World Cup year so actually maybe not this time as I've already seen World Cup kit leaks.
  16. There's a half-finished looking mural on the railway bridge near Northam Road, onto which some helpful local has now graffiti'd a bloody great triangle or pentangle-looking thing over some of his face. So not really being recognised, especially as he's only alongside some outlines of planes and ships anyway. At least he's on the banner though. Up there, look ! He's the first one. Think he gets a mention in one of the "early days" videos in the National Football Museum in Manchester as well.
  17. We haven't picked a predominantly first team side for a league cup game in about 3 years, which does somewhat reduce the likelihood of us winning said competition. Might change this year though. They didn't HAVE to beat Chelsea away, it was a two-legged semi-final - they did do that though. Just like we beat Chelsea on aggregate over our two league matches last season. And Chelsea didn't pick Petr Cech and had their number 57 on the bench, but they did have a decent side out.
  18. I can see Isgrove doing something, he's got pace, energy and seems confident and able to impose himself as well as looking like a finisher. Chambers may get a run if others are injured or if he shows enough in training to warrant a few starts. Not sure about JWP, he hasn't shown me much and he's got some good players ahead of him, but at least he's in good hands and will be trying his best to do what's asked of him. Completely agree re: Bale, I made a similar point a day or two ago when mentioning what Spurs could give him that we couldn't - which included the ability to develop around top Premier League players and get European experience.
  19. I'd fancy our chances in a cup final against Bradford City.
  20. I went in the shop today and there was a load of black and white kit and pics of players wearing it in the Megastore that weren't there before, so that's probably why the shop closed. For the record I was in the from about half 1 to 2-ish (parked over the road, found a space for once) and I saw two families buy 3 red shirts in total. No-one apart from me bought the away kit in that half an hour. There were a couple of right porkers getting some of the 3XLs too, Turkish would have loved it, especially as the black shirts are Formotion and therefore pretty skintight.
  21. Found some pics, only a training top at Beerschot, but good enough for me :
  22. Because we have a load of fringe players with numbers in the 30s and always have done in the Prem. We just name a couple more to get us up to 42. Arsenal used to field entire teams of kids in the League Cup with numbers in the 50s, that's not really the same as trying to artificially fabricate a situation to give a player a pointlessly high number for the sake of it.
  23. Yep, we stayed up for another 2 whole seasons.
