You're missing that we haven't named 3 goalkeepers in the 25, we can only name 22 outfielders. And we have. Plus Kelvin, equals 23. So arguably, yes, we could sign Del Piero. But we'd have to play him in goal.

I'll bear that in mind the next time we need a goal in League One.

Nothing to do with being panicky, everything to do with tiredness. It was a weary reaction which he'd have had no problem with in the first few minutes but he'd had a game of tracking Van Persie, Welbeck and Hernandez's movement and just didn't have anyhing left. How do you explain him letting van Persie get two or three steps in front of him from the following corner as well otherwise ? (Though I'd also point out that no-one else stepped into their zone either).

Should I be taking the lack of Ramirez on the OS squad and the outright refusal to commit his shirt number to any kind of statement, only showing a GASTON 10 shirt in his signing picture, as some kind of bet-hedging in case Del Piero wants 10..? After all, 11 is free too...

The point is that IS the difference. Whether we do cut those little errors out or not is precisely the line we're walking between Prem and otherwise. It's making them against the likes of Wigan that's really going to cost us, they're just as likely to punish us as any other bottom half Prem side.
