His abilities didn't suit our style and vice versa. We didn't play through balls as they were high risk, and wanted to play a passing game when he wanted to run at people and attack the box with the ball. Having said that he scored some useful goals against some of the better Championship sides. I actually think he'd be better suited to the Prem, but not in a side playing slow possession football. He's surely ideal for a 4-3-3 at home if the job is to support the central striker.

Are we also signing Emlyn Hughes then ?

Finally a mention on SSN ! But more importantly (ok less importantly), my 5 brand new still in packaging retro Saints shirts have only ONE HOUR left to eBay auction closure ! http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?39726-Saints-Kits-on-eBay-still-in-packaging Deadlines everywhere !!!!

Into the last hour of the sale, some still at the original costs with no bids - there are bargains to be had !

This is vaguely interesting insight (not a deal, the process) : http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/features/transfer-deadline-day-how-deals-get-done.html

There's nothing to say other than "nothing has changed since 10pm last night", which obviously hasn't stopped them with various other teams...

I know.

This is true, BBC website had it at 7pm (but that was local time).

Echo saying his wages were too high and Chelsea wouldn't subsidise them.

Cheers ! Very interesting interpretation of Lambert based on the previous players stepping up from the Championship. "To focus on Lambert (the Championship’s Golden Boot winner with 27 goals just a year after scoring 20 in League One), there are trends within the data that suggest his game may be well suited to the challenges faced by strikers in the Premier League. Hitting the target from outside the box 0.75 times per game last season (well above the top flight average for strikers of 0.52), Lambert has the tools to overcome the limitations imposed by a lack of chances in the box at the highest level. With Lambert also completing 61.5% of his forward passes, the information suggests that his game could fit well with the conditions Premier League strikers play under. Happy to drop deep to receive the ball and shoot from range, the statistical sample at our disposal indicates that the Southampton forward will see a marked reduction in his goals per game ratio in the top flight, but could become a more influential attacking facilitator for his team." Seems to tie in with the comments on here about dropping deeper. Also very interesting to see the overall pass completion stats for strikers ALL went up in the Prem - which actually gives some credence to the much-mocked opinion about Schneiderlin (for example) getting more time in the Premier League.

Del Piero would sell a gazillion Saints shirts, and that's reason to sign him alone. Though if the Pele precedent is anything to go by, we'd give him number 31 or something.

I am astonished that people haven't worked out that I completely made up that entire tweet. #mongs.

Oi, I don't bother myself with such trivialities. Now if you bring up a song with the word Premiership in it, I'll be all over that.

@codycropper: Day 1 of my new contract, media training. Must remember not to say Premiership, that's rugby. #PremierLeague #Mong

Have we given up on fonte and hoos on this forum
The9 replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
To be perfectly honest I don't care what these players DID, I only care what they can do. As for football being "unfair", it's a meritocracy, it is about as fair as it gets regarding who gets to play at what level. Fonte has looked the less comfortable of the two, but if we sign Fontas (or Kana-Biyik) as well as Yoshida then they could both drop out. Same with Fox and Boilesen. Onward and upward, the rest are being suitably compensated and have already tasted more success at Saints than 90% of the players through the 90s. -

It's already on the OS as the Sunday. -
Just made the mistake of going on twitter to see what all the fuss was about. Yeesh. That Dan Saint (no, not itchen_dan), what an utter spoon. Just posted 15 mins ago asking what was happening with the "Mayku" deal, and have we signed him. Yes, you ferking helmet, it's been on the OS for over 2 days. Try using some official sources. Christ. Must stay off twitter, what a bunch of bell-ends society's self-publicists are. As I was saying the other day in this thread for my Saints shirts eBay auction : http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?39726-Saints-Kits-on-eBay-still-in-packaging

We have block 44, it's neutral because it's empty...

Can't believe they've left it so late in the day, I could have had a celebratory Fray Bentos Spaghetti Bolognese if they'd announced it earlier, but I filled up on sushi.

Sheff Weds at home, excellent, I totally don't care.

Sky are on ads and the programme finishes by 10pm so assuming the draw will be along shortly.
