  1. I agree with a surprising amount of this post - and it's not as if I'm saying it because you're going to buytheshirt BUYTHESHIRT !
  2. Surely only a problem if their multi-millionaire owner decides he's had enough and leaves them with all those contracts - Fernandes is not about to get arrested for war crimes or have his assets frozen is he ? The tv money should cover a lot of it and the kind of players they have been getting are all likely to up and leave if they go down anyway. The parachutes should cover the rest. Even if they imploded, lost their backer and went down shedding most of the squad they would still have enough cash from the proceeds to compete in the Championship, you have to work REALLY hard, choose some really dodgy or fake funders and ignore a whole lot of bills for a long time whilst continuing to splash money you clearly don't have in order to get into the mess Portsmouth did. The comparison with Portsmouth basically overstates the impact of wages, ignores next year's massive tv deal increase, the desire for players to get paid Prem money and be in the Premier League to perpetuate their career, parachute money and most importantly, how likely the owner is to turn out to fail to exist.
  3. Getting a bit off topic now, so is anyone going to buy some of my still-in-the-packaging Saints shirts (S,L,XL, 5 different styles from the mid-90s and early 2000s plus that charcoal one) ? Starting at between £10-£20 and auction finishing around 4pm tomorrow. Roll up roll up... getcha links above.

Stop making me agree with you dammit ! Is mug the new mong ?
  5. I'm going for C, but as everything will be undisclosed (irony re: Ramirez) I'm basically saying that'll be 4 signings.
  6. Nice work.
  7. Or they could start charging for car parking. Funnily enough the sash was our last £40 shirt and we've paid £42 the last two seasons. A cynic would point this out. Another cynic would point out that's what Umbro charge for all new shirts though.
  8. "Pendant", fool.
  9. Welcome to the pedant in-joke about not being able to spell pedant. It's like Fight Club, except I'm talking about it.
  10. Yeah but after the initial stall it was never going to happen before Thursday/Friday this week. Bologna are desperate for cash and we'll get him unless someone else jumps in late.
  11. I was dragged up on a council estate and think your perspective is straight out of junior school.
  12. That's "this afternoon" (when they wrote it) Saints are poised to sign in the next 24 hours. So within 24 hours of the afternoon in question.
  13. No different to any other football shirts really. But full of memories for Saints fans.
  14. I'd pay the same price as for one with a sponsor. Don't give them ideas... Of course if you lot want to go and buy my brand spanking as new old school Saints kits from the links above, then I could probably afford to get one made. (Unlikely but a plug is a plug). Buytheshirt Buytheshirt!
  15. Yeah, since I got to about 34.
  16. That's "Krispy Kreme", anyway.
  17. People may not believe this, but I'm with you lot on this, what a load of sad acts. My replicas are for Saints matches (shirt only), plus training and 5-a-sides only, and even THEN I go out of my way not to match the whole lot...
  18. What are the rules on bumping stuff in this forum ?
  19. The number grows by one. Give it 6 months and you'll all be on my side of the fence with this. Assuming we don't look like we'll need a proven Championship scorer by then... even West Brom kept Bednar for the yoyo seasons.
  20. To eventually replace Lambert, presumably.
  21. Oh yeah :
  22. I should probably take this opportunity to plug these Saints kits on eBay - 2 days remaining, all in the original bags with tags and labels and so on, basically exactly as they would be if you bought then new. 1999-2001 Navy FP away XL 1999-2001 "Ajax" FP home S 2000-02 yellow FP away L 2005/6 central badge Theo season FP home L (long sleeve) 2008/9 charcoal away XL http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261089375017?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_500wt_1203 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261089380407?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_500wt_1203 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261089384162?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_500wt_1203 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261089387435?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_500wt_1203 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261089389885?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_500wt_1203 I can't remember Wigan's sponsor either, it was some online betting company though.
  23. There were a few unsponsored keeper shirts in the store(s) last season, I assume that was more of a stock glitch than policy though. I assume the U-18s have their own shirt sponsorship deals (like we used to have Centerprise and Orchard for the academy teams) and they just don't have one at the moment. You probably can't buy their shirts because having the sponsor's name on all replicas is probably part of aap3's deal with us.
  24. It was not a backpass under any interpretation of the law. It has to be intentional, the guy was trying to hammer it up the field. I was the bloke shouting "stick it down and stick it in" as soon as the keeper didn't boot it off the pitch.
  25. He did very well to get what he did out of our defenders, Shaw aside they all have experience higher than he's playing at. But yeah, that one header was rubbish, hit him on the side of the head I think. I didn't really notice his hair. Sounds like you were in the back row like us, hope you didn't talk about washing machines or the surly teen conversation police will be on to you.
