  1. I'll just dig out an old Craig Gordon Sunderland shirt, hold on... There we go. From this article dated 2009, so from before then, obviously. Saints only started wearing Umbro in 2008 and our first keeper shirts were the ones Sunderland had the season before that. As we didn't change our home or GK kits the season after administration (despite Umbro and Saints saying all kits would be for a season when the kit deal was announced), Kelvin and Bart wore the amber and light blue versions of this style for 2 seasons instead :
  2. And who are still credit worthy 2 years into a credit crunch and recession, who don't already have a card that's maxed out, etc.
  3. I have no idea how legit this little snippet is, but let me be the first to point out that I did say about 11 months ago that not having STs at all might be part of Cortese's plan based on what had happened so far. If anyone wants to run a search on it, feel free... and while you're at it, can you find my pre-season prediction for where we'd finish this season ? The one thing I think would stop the removal of STs altogether is the impracticality (and cost) of trying to sell 25000+ tickets for every match, but doing things a different way has never been a problem for Cortese so far - it's just that everything he's done that's been unconventional so far (other than sack Pardew after a 4-0 win, and even the prevaricating over Adkins cost us the title in the end) has been a bloody disaster or huge pain in the ar5e.
  4. I saw our first team pass it around Man Utd for ten minutes when 1-0 up earlier this season, so you'll forgive me for not being too worried about us needing to improve. We've got a solid base of upper-mid table Championship players even now and I can see us winning more than we lose even without adding anyone.
  5. Don't forget that MK Dons have the wannkiest left-back in League One by some distance. How Lewington's playing, never mind captain, God only knows. I'm no great fan of Harding or Dickson, but they're literally in a different League to him. Literally.
  6. Yep, he's only 20 so as he's under 24 if we offer him a contract equal to his previous deal and he chooses not to sign it, we get a tribunal-decided fee when he signs for somewhere else, which is intended as compensation for our development costs in training the player from youth. Just like we did with Leon Best when he went to Coventry. I think the only thing worth discussing from the list is the trigger points for the automatic renewals - I'm assuming that Harding, Butterfield and Martin either had promotion clauses giving them an extra year, or they hit a certain number of appearances. If that's the case I would imagine Martin's figure was quite low...
  7. Yeah but there's got to be a point where that just doesn't matter any more ?
  8. I'm still not going to do it.
  9. I don't sing it because I used to sing (Newport) "County til I die" at Somerton Park when I was a kid. I unexpectedly outlived the club but after the bankruptcy I came to Southampton and it would be somewhat hypocritical to sing it about 2 teams. But it's true, pretty much everyone's been singing it for at least 20 years.
  10. Well I was, that's one of the reasons I want us to reclaim it, otherwise there's too much of a chance it'll spring up somewhere to annoy me, I want it to remind me of us thrashing them.
  11. Shall we read far too much into the Saints girls U-14s wearing this Huddersfield-esque Umbro teamwear kit in this OS article today, http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2363626,00.html even though it's almost certainly just something red and white and Umbro that they could stick a Saints logo on at short notice ? Yes, lets. I notice the keeper's shirt is about 4 years old, in case anyone is getting too excited...
  12. Yes it has. They still haven't reduced the price of the home kit either, not that I have much use for LB, or XXL and up to XXXXXL sizes. I especially can't believe they're still trying to sell the home socks for £10 when JJB have been selling the exact same socks (described as Wales goalkeeper socks) for £3 for over 4 months. http://www.jjbsports.com/wales-home-goalkeepers-socks-2010/12/wales/shop/fcp-product/16193 The away kit has been 50% off since before the Plymouth match as well.
  13. You forgot injury crisis during our busiest run of fixtures.
  14. And this needs another thread why, exactly ?
  15. He's the only current Saints squad member, the only thing it really indicates is that the OS forgot to run a minor piece a few weeks back to say we'd placed someone on the Transfer List, probably because they'd forgotten he was even around. It's patently obvious he won't be getting a new deal, but somehow gives me a warm feeling inside to know he's SO bad he gets special free transfer treatment. Puncheon's not the next one on the list, even though there's a category for players available to be loaned... I guess as he's on loan he doesn't qualify.
  16. Quite a few ex-Saints on there, not shocked to see Stephen O'Halloran on the Free Transfer list, or Alan Bennett, or Pedro "Pele" Monteiro... or Darren Powell, who is now 35.
  17. I've just got around to looking at that site properly. All it says is that Pulis is available for free transfer.
  18. It's still a negligible difference if you're coming from anywhere other than Caerphilly.
  19. Actually Sproule is a fair shout as well.
  20. Nor can I, but blaming Tony Curtis is a bit harsh when it was Tony Christie who recorded it !
  21. Maybe they think we're Brighton.
  22. Couldn't believe they actually played it on the PA before kick off at one match this season, but we really should reclaim it. Is this the way to liquidation Skates erased from the face of the nation Even worse than relegation And they won't be back again...
  23. I don't think I've seen a link on here to an article on there where I've actually agreed with the content for about 2 years. Maybe the one about club transparency and selling STs.
  24. I can't believe any Saints fan can ask that question after the way Saints went out in Derby in 2007. No, away goals do not count in the Football League Play-Offs.
  25. Aside from the two Scvnthorpe players already mentioned on here, and Rory Fallon, who looked half decent at Plymouth despite being surrounded by gash, there's not much on that list.
