  1. Here's the post 1976 badge on the shirt :
  2. Well even Saints haven't used it for 15 years, so it's not surprising. What IS surprising is Matthew Le God's claim that we've been using the same badge since 1974 when we clearly haven't. Even the black and yellow "Southampton FC" part of the badge wasn't on it until 1976/7, when it was retained as a segment of the circle that surrounded the crest which read FA Cup Winners 1976... and as we've already established, the ball was 18-panelled until the mid-90s when it was changed the the 32-panel style "current" version. You can see the detail on the tree has been dropped since that crest was on the outside of the Milton End as well.
  3. That wasn't our badge until the mid-90s. HTH.
  4. He had some figurehead-type role in the Wilde board's setup in 2006/7, and both Bale and Bridge were left backs who overlapped their left sided midfielders, who were Skacel and Marsden respectively. It doesn't sound like he's suggesting they overlapped each other, even from your phrasing of it.
  5. Ireland away is the same template as Livingston and the green Atletico Madrid already posted, so it's certainly out there, but it doesn't seem to tally with the OP's description.
  6. I'm not sure who I'd have at left back as I can't think of any I've been impressed by (though on current form he's not even the best left back at Saints), but aside from Richard Lee of Brentford I can't remember any opposing League One keepers being much cop at St Mary's so at least that's explained away. And obviously we know BWP is gash, but he's scored plenty this season. More surprised the players who support Mackail-Smith's goals aren't in there, Boyd, Tomlin and McCann have all been decent for Peterborough too.
  7. Yawn. So it would still be smaller, and I'd love to know the criteria for "better".
  8. I suspect the answer has something to do with ticket prices and Club Wembley seats being unsold, there were a LOT of empty seats on the halfway line and the Club Wembley types in the middle tier also aren't going to dignify Stoke v Bolton with an appearance - and they get tickets automatically.
  9. Which they're not anyway, according to the table.
  10. Dan Harding ? This team is as much of a joke as the weekly nonsense they put out which bears no resemblance to anything that happens on the pitch either.
  11. Er, yeah, ok. Where are you on this table of all-time Premier League teams ? We're 14th. http://www.myfootballfacts.com/All-TimePremierLeagueTable1992-93to2010-11.html Or this : FA Cup winners - you're not on that either. http://www.myfootballfacts.com/FACupWinners1872to2009.html Oh, and well done on finishing above Saints for the first time in the last 51 years, as 1960 was the last time (coincidentally we won this division then). Check it here if you like : http://www.myfootballfacts.com/FOOTBALL_LEAGUE_POSITIONS_CHRONOLOGICAL_1888-89_to_2009-10.html Finally I hear your new ground, that presumably could have been built to hold any number of fans, has a capacity that's 10,000 less than ours. Good luck with that ambition. Superiority my arse. But don't worry, we'll have forgotten all about you by next season, Championship or not.
  12. Looks like it. Never question the lengths to which my anal kit knowledge can come in handy... ...in threads which are specifically about anal kit knowledge.
  13. Me too, I was expecting some kind of clarification.

    Help!!!!

According to it's website... 1840. Though checking in more detail, in 1992 King Alfred's College started getting accreditation from the University of Southampton, in 2004 they got degree awarding powers of their own, and in 2005 changed to University of Winchester. Not sure if it's the same organisation as the Winchester Art College that Southampton Uni used to run or not, but wouldn't be surprised. If I didn't know better and hadn't been paying attention, I might have missed the Chimpstitute's morphing into Southampton Solent Uni as well...
  15. Decent odds considering they're fighting relegation and we've got a habit of sleepwalking through games not involving the top 5.
  16. And I can help by bumping it by complaining about the lack of the word "Bristol" in the thread title again.
  17. It says exactly how this works on the ticket post. Unless you specify that you want a seat they will give you a terrace ticket - unless you specify you don't want a terrace ticket if you can't get a seat. There are only 570 seats so clearly they're going to do the seats first, after they've worked out who's getting the tickets altogether that is.
  18. Good use of both "Bristol" and "Rovers" there for clarity, especially in that first match.
  19. Oh yeah, and there's a pic of them on FB for all you doubters. Though I'm not linking it.
  20. I went in 2005/6 thanks, more than aware what a shart tip it is and how dreadful it is. I seem to recall an incident on a train home with Ostlund's nephew and someone spouting off about how crap he was (at left back in that match FFS). Hopefully if we're playing them in their new stadium next season we can get a chorus of "I've got a shed" going, it should annoy them a lot.
  21. Came home, 4 tickets in an envelope on the floor, woop! So, paranoia over, as expected, 4-ish was more than enough. I love our fanbase, amazing until you ask them to write anything on a piece of paper.
  22. LOL at "only" 6/7, even in the Prem going to 6 matches would guarantee you a ticket for any away game, and some of those allocations were only about 1000 as well. I think I'm going to be borderline with a group averaging about 4/5, it was enough for Bournemouth but there were nearly twice as many for that. I like Hamster's scan idea, bearing in mind that if 4000 of us turned up we could probably all stand on the running track and, er, no-one would notice.
  23. I have no idea which kit you're referring to, but whichever it is, I'm pretty sure you've missed the point entirely.
  24. Weirdly I have a sum equivalent to the cost of the tickets missing from my "available balance" in my bank account, but nothing online or actually on my statement yet.
