Anyone who supports another team facing the threat of relegation will want us to keep Pellegrino in charge. It’s actually quite decent of us to keep him around, from their perspective. It gives the teams around us hope that we’ll take their relegation spot for them.
-
It is absolutely bat**** crazy that this man is still employed as a football manager.

If we are going to keep MoPe, what has he got to change?

If he stays, the only thing likely to change is our Premier League status. -
The club has wheeled out Romeu to take some pressure off Pellegrino. Don’t blame him. Blame the players... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/02/12/oriol-romeu-says-players-responsible-southamptons-struggles/

He’s very poor at organizing defenses. If he is a defensive manager, then you would have thought that being good at organizing defences would be a prerequisite for such a label. Like others on here, I just think that he is a terrible manager. He’s bad at indentifying talent (or lack of talent) and in particular he’s a poor tactician. You almost feel like this season has been treated like some kind of developmental opportunity for him.

This sums it up for me. We’re in the relegation zone, and the side showed no fight or desire to claw their way out of the hole in the second half of yesterday’s game. It was a very troubling half of football.
-
At this point it is a bit of a downer to wake up and discover that he’s still here. Pellegrino is not the only employee of the club who’s afraid to make bold decisions, it seems.

New club record - 7 homes games without a win

The lack of upcoming home games could be a blessing in disguise. -
Ralph: Hopefully Mr. Gao doesn’t realize that we’re actually watching Winter Olympics hockey, Kat. Kat: Shut it Ralph I think he heard you.

I think that the club left it too late in the sense that they should have pulled the trigger after the Leicester game, and given a new manager time to improve performances leading into the Jan transfer window. We may have actually convinced some decent players to join us if our fortunes looked better under more competent leadership, and many incoming managers would prefer a chance to identify weaknesses in the squad and fix them via the transfer market. We missed that boat. At this stage in the season we’re an even less attractive option for managerial candidates. I still think the situation can be salvaged, and relegation avoided if we replace Pellegrino with a competent manager so in that sense we’re not yet at the point of no return.

He said: “We had to show more character in the second half.” No ****, Pellegrino.

The Telegraph match tracker concluded that Saints deserve to be in the relegation zone based on this “afternoon of gutlessness.” I’m not sure I can disagree with that summary. It’s very disappointing to see the level of fight and passion exhibited by other struggling and less talented teams like Swansea and Newcastle, and then watch Pellegrino’s side produce today’s flaccid second half performance.

Hughes does not inspire me at all. He may be better than Pellegrino, though. Not that it’s much of an achievement. Silva is a better option, even if only for the remainder of the season. We’ll do well, probably survive relegation and he’ll market himself to bigger teams.
-
FT: 0-2. That was a very poor second half. No fight. No character.
-
There probably won’t be enough home supporters left to muster up a decent “sacked in the morning” chant at the end.
-
That must have been a humdinger of a halftime team talk by Pellegrino, to produce this level of performance in the second half.
-
Lallana came close there. That would have been unfortunate.
-
Davis is eternally reliable according to the commentators.
-
Oh time for Davis. Romeu coming off.
-
There seems to be a level of decision-making paralysis in the boardroom, that tells me he will survive this game like he’s survived all the other cock ups.
-
Bloody hell Cedric.
-
We looked decent at times in the first half, despite the two goals. This second half has been desperately disappointing so far. Good foot save by McCarthy saves a third goal.
-
The team simply should not be in this position. It comes down to incompetent management, unfortunately.

Lemina coming off for Boufal, due to injury I assume.
