basically agree, really it grew during the late 60's and early 70's and mirrored the rise of football hooliganism. what added the spice was the number of events where the two cities were in opposition,even in youth football, Wimpson vs Hillside(Paulsgrove). they used to come to the Fair on the Common, we used to go to Southsea and some of the grotty nightclubs opposite the pier in Southsea.
