Chelsea's record of getting talent through their academy and into their first team and/or other top level teams is pretty unrivalled in recent years: James, Mount, Chalobah, Hudson-Odoi, Abraham, Broja, Tomori, Guehi, Livramento, Gallagher, Lamptey without mentioning Ake and Christensen and soon to be the likes of Colwill, Maatsen etc. Easy to argue if you are a top talent like Dibling then Chelsea is a great place to go and kick on to a top career.
  2. https://sport.sky.de/transfer/news/34132/12650239/transfer-news-sasa-kalajdzic-vom-vfb-stuttgart-ein-kandidat-bei-manchester-united Would prefer Broja if any chance of it myself, just such an ideal fit for our style. Would be very interesting to know who our absolute no1 choice is.
  3. Was obvious he wouldn't go under the rdar much longer as has bden excellent on both sides. Spurs don't currently need a full back and he has 3 years left on his contract so (aside from Spurs) we could essentially name a price. That said, interesting timing for this stuff to suddenly emerge...agent driven most likely, so perhaps he wants to move now? Wouldn't imagine his salary at Saints is reflective of how good he is, mostly because he has improved so much and gained England caps since signing it. Likely we will sell him next summer but would be a massive signal from SR to get someone like him to sign an extension.
  4. Some astonishing takes here regarding Adams. A team like Saints needs a few steady players like Adams. Yes he isnt going to get a move to a top 6 club but he is a decent player, nearly always available for selection, good attitude, strong, physical and can press well. He has also shown that he can score goals and he is improving all the time. No coincidence that both Ings and Broja played well with him as a partner. If we start selling someone like him for a meagre £20m to a direct rival then I would be amazed. We signed him for £15m and he is a miles better player now than he was then, so why sell him for a fee that barely reflects that improvement? In todays market he is easily a £25-£30m player, similar to Chris Wood. Some of you are clueless.

Chelsea have been very active in the youth market again this summer and just signed a top talent who was at Brighton. Wouldn't be surpised to see Dibling there. Easily the best recent record of bringing through top players from their academy, and wouldnt have to relocate hundreds of miles away.
  6. Interesting that he said he told Hasenhuttl his preferred position is on the right behind the striker. Armstrong's best role too, but he is unreliable injury wise and good to have a left footed option there.

    Salisu

Personally rate him very highly but would be suprised if City want him as his weakness is on the ball and thats an attribute they value very highly. That said, if he doesn't sign a contract then now is probably when his value is highest. I think more likely is he stays this season, doesn't sign a contract and then moves for about £30m next summer.
  8. No sign of Dibling or Doyle. Ballard played 2nd half. Saints were 2-0 down and then Ferry & A. Triallist scored for us.

Not in the list of scholars so seems clear he is leaving. No point dressing it up, its a big blow for the academy seeing as he is a massive talent and has already been on the bench for the first team aged 16. Any compensation will be minimal vs his potential.

  11. If ever there was a player for Saints to push the boat out for its Broja. Absolute no brainer to be in for him at £25-30m assuming we are financially able to.

    Lyanco

That said, if we could trade Lyanco for Colwill...
  13. Still need more goals and assists from the #10s. Aribo is a good signing but likely not to be a major goal threat. Probably greedy to expect another attacking midfielder as well as a striker but its so clear the team as a whole lacks goals so really hope we can rectify that somehow.
  14. Surely for us to get Colwill we would need to ship out two of Bednarek, Stephens and Lyanco? Nothing strong on any exits so far. Although we have 5 CBs (plus Simeu and Valery) it would be very anoying to miss out on him.

  16. Would imagine we intend to use him as a #10 in the 4-2-2-2 as he certainly isn't a sitting midfielder, but he would also work well in a 3 man midfield and has covered up front for them. Left footed but reminds me a little of someone like Smith-Rowe in style. Probably further indication that the likes of Walcott and Djenepo are on borrowed time and also Armstrong is so injury prone and I think thats the position that suits him best, playing inside from the right.
  17. Would assume all the Intl will be back in time for the Austria trip next Wednesday. The squad list for that will be very interesting. No point taking players who will be leaving. Will any of the youngsters get a chance to impress?
  18. Agree with this as things stand. Anything above 12th would be excellent. Doesn't look like there will be any whipping boys this season and the mid table teams are mostly all on an upward curve.
  19. I agree he would be a good signing, but he isn't really a huge goal threat. His numbers for Rangers are broadly in line with Armstrong and Elyounoussi for Celtic. If we got him I imagine we would use him as a #10 and like Armstrong and Elyounoussi a fair expectation based on his career so far would be around 5 PL goals. As for most teams outside the top 6 the key signing will be a striker who gets 10+ goals as without that our team will be short on goals - only JWP, Broja and Adams got more than 5 in the league last season.
  20. We need to cover loan exits in the B team (Olaigbe, Chauke etc) so he would slot in there I guess. Re Downes...as soon as we got Lavia I think interest in other CMs died.
  21. I'm generally unbothered about kits, but IMO this one is great. A unique design rather than template blandness and can see it being popular with the demographic that replica shirts are tailored to, i.e kids (plus those who will buy every shirt regardless of course).
  22. Similar profile to Lavia. I don't think we will sign another CM assuming we do get him. If we are interested in Aribo it must be as a #10.

Sounds like we will know soon but from this and The Cat I'm guessing he won't be on the list and is moving somewhere else. Hopefully not Morgan too.
  24. https://www.getfootballnewsgermany.com/2022/hoffenheim-interested-in-rb-salzburgs-junior-adamu/ Given recent form you would have to say Delap is the most Saintsy, but also probably would have a few options. Loan makes most sense from City perspective surely.
  25. We are pretty woeful at giving long serving players a good send off. Surely we knew he would be leaving before the final game at St Marys.
