FWIW seems like he is a sitting midfielder who is athletic and good on the ball who most plays safe in front of the back four. I wonder whether Diallo will still be at Saints come Sept?
-
Colwill is a Soton lad and is quality. Ordinarily we should be all over this, but we can't have too many young CBs which may be why we aren't mentioned.
-
Genuine question...aside from Instagram what does he so that makes you think he is brilliant? I am baffled that anyone could see brilliance in him based on what we have seen so far.
-
Hard to find a more unreliable football media than the Italians but the Turks run them close so would take with a massive pinch of salt. That said, its clear Lyanco isn't PL quality so perhaps this would make sense as I don't see him getting many starts for us, certainly not in the league. Relatively cheap fee but a poor signing.
-
Will be interesting to see if Long returns to training next week. Considering Adams will have an extended break our attack will be interesting in the first friendly or two, even if its behind closed doors games. Even in the first team training sessions. Literally no point giving game time to N'Lundulu as he doesnt have a future at the club. Maybe Ballard will be with the first team to start with. We really do need a couple of starting XI players in the striker and #10 position. With the season starting earlier (and a tough start) we can't afford to wait til deadline day either.

Ive not seen much of Awoniyi but seems like he does have those attributes, backed up by the reports on him today. Considering he just scored 15 goals in the Bundesliga, is 24 and was available for less than £18m it seems a good deal. Very intrigued to see who we go for as this signing needs to hit the ground running because JWP aside our output from midfield in terms of goals is so poor.
-
Seemingly we were interested in Awoniyi recently so would be interesting if that changed or he picked Forest over Saints and others. Had a release clause so fee no issue. Guarenteed starts there probably appealing. Suprised we havent been more strongly linked to #10s and strikers seeing as we potentially need 3.
-
Sounds like we are close to agreeing a fee with Real Sociedad for Javi de Pedro. Probably a Djenepo/Walcott replacement.
-
"Which football ownership group do you support?" Won't be long before this is a thing.
-
Even for the smaller clubs the cash is less useful than the player as the type of market we operate in wages wise means we aren't going to be signing proven players and thats what would be needed to even try to replace JWP. He is worth £75m to Saints but surely isn't worth that to any prospective buyer?
-
Anders Svensson based on his performances for Saints was pretty average I thought. Some good moments but always had more in him than what he showed.
-
Is that it for CB, or could we potentially lose Bednarek and Stephens which would give us room for one more addition there? Lyanco probably stays by default as will be hard to shift as his wages are probably fsr in excess of the value any buyer would see in him. Hopefully he is happy to be a backup.
-
Seemingly a good signing and also the end of the days where for some reason we had to officially sell a player before buying one in the same position. Good to see. I hope as rumoured the club have an option for a 5th year. Good that he speaks good English.
-
He dropped off as the whole team went to pot, and was probably overplayed, but over the season he was key in most of our best performances. You can tell the attackers who will develop into top players because they have that extra level that others can't find. Broja has that, and absolutely rinsed some good centre backs last season in the way that Adams (and pretty much all bottom half strikers) cannot. For a first season in the PL he did really well and was ideal for our style of play. Pace, power, good finisher, can score from outside the box, creates chances for himself, wins penalties, robust. If we think we can find better then fair play. I can't think of any reason Saints wouldn't want him permanently so have to assume either the price is too high or he isn't interested - possibly both.
-
Maybe he made it clear he had no interest in staying longer term? Otherwise as you say, bizarre that we aren't pushing hard for him. If ever there was a low risk deal to spend more than £20m its this.
-
Personally think anything under £30m for Broja is a great deal. Already good and massive potential, would be pretty annoying to see him go to West Ham. Still think Chelsea mad to sell him without ever giving him a chance.
-
Right - so you basically want a defender who can marshall a defence and who is good? Why not just say that instead of assuming defenders with lots of games or who are older automatically have those traits when as you say, and I tend to agree, that is not always the case. Experience is such a lazy term to throw about.
-
Funny thing is Jan Bednarek is pretty experienced having made over 100 PL apps, plus 42 caps for Poland and experience of starting games in two major tournaments. In the prime of his career. Sure you want to let such experience go so easily? I mean...there is pretty much no chance Saints could afford to sign a CB with 100+ games in one of the top European leagues who also has 40+ Intl caps for a decent nation and is still considered relatively young.
-
This is a little misleading. The actual closing in comment is made as an interpretation of this quote from Dean Jones rather than an actual status of the situation. Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: "Chris Richards is emerging as a real option for Saints. "I've watched a fair bit of him and while he hasn't made it at Bayern yet there is definitely reason to believe this would be a good signing. A few things to be sorted but people around it seem optimistic."
-
Why would we do that if we loan him out? Struggling to work out why it puzzles you so much. He will be on a very low wage. That wage likely covered by a loan move. Then if it suits we bring him back to be part of our squad. If it doesnt then we keep loaning him out/sell him. Its an extremely low risk scenario that the club/SR obviously have a plan for.
-
Leeds hard to judge. Have made some decent looking signings, with more to come but also likely to lose Phillips and Raphinha. The relegation battle is going to be brutal this season as not likely to be any total whipping boys and all the teams near the bottom last season will spend heavily (probably excluding us).

https://twitter.com/Plettigoal/status/1537881033961377795 @Plettigoal: News #Awoniyi: He’s keen to leave Union Berlin in summer. He wants to join a club in the Premier League. Nottingham is (next to Niakhaté) highly interested. Talks took place. For a move to #NFFC he can use a release clause of around €20m! Several clubs interested. @SkySportDE 🇳🇬

If Forest sign Henderson on loan I believe that would mean they cannot take Garner on loan. A player we are supposedly interested in...
-
At this stage just an approach and unlikely to be joining this window if indeed he agrees to the move. Great to show some intent though and this is a hugely key role that we need someone good in. Seems Arsenal targetted him previously: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7653189/Arsenal-target-Manchester-City-talent-spotter-recruited-Jadon-Sancho-academy-revamp.html

Interesting that so far there haven't been too many strong links with strikers, considering we absolutely need one. Probably the Awoyini one the strongest. After GK which is virtually sorted its the absolutely key position and we need to replace Broja with someone who will start every week, assuming we cannot get him back on loan again. IMO its not over the top to say the success of whoever we do get will end up deciding our PL status. Hope we have a good idea of the chance of getting Broja again and don't get strung along only for him to go elsewhere or stay at Chelsea. Personally think they would be mad not to use him in their squad this season.
