  1. Personally think anything under £30m for Broja is a great deal. Already good and massive potential, would be pretty annoying to see him go to West Ham. Still think Chelsea mad to sell him without ever giving him a chance.
  2. Right - so you basically want a defender who can marshall a defence and who is good? Why not just say that instead of assuming defenders with lots of games or who are older automatically have those traits when as you say, and I tend to agree, that is not always the case. Experience is such a lazy term to throw about.
  3. Funny thing is Jan Bednarek is pretty experienced having made over 100 PL apps, plus 42 caps for Poland and experience of starting games in two major tournaments. In the prime of his career. Sure you want to let such experience go so easily? I mean...there is pretty much no chance Saints could afford to sign a CB with 100+ games in one of the top European leagues who also has 40+ Intl caps for a decent nation and is still considered relatively young.
  4. This is a little misleading. The actual closing in comment is made as an interpretation of this quote from Dean Jones rather than an actual status of the situation. Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: "Chris Richards is emerging as a real option for Saints. "I've watched a fair bit of him and while he hasn't made it at Bayern yet there is definitely reason to believe this would be a good signing. A few things to be sorted but people around it seem optimistic."
  5. Why would we do that if we loan him out? Struggling to work out why it puzzles you so much. He will be on a very low wage. That wage likely covered by a loan move. Then if it suits we bring him back to be part of our squad. If it doesnt then we keep loaning him out/sell him. Its an extremely low risk scenario that the club/SR obviously have a plan for.
  6. Leeds hard to judge. Have made some decent looking signings, with more to come but also likely to lose Phillips and Raphinha. The relegation battle is going to be brutal this season as not likely to be any total whipping boys and all the teams near the bottom last season will spend heavily (probably excluding us).
  7. https://twitter.com/Plettigoal/status/1537881033961377795 @Plettigoal: News #Awoniyi: He’s keen to leave Union Berlin in summer. He wants to join a club in the Premier League. Nottingham is (next to Niakhaté) highly interested. Talks took place. For a move to #NFFC he can use a release clause of around €20m! Several clubs interested. @SkySportDE 🇳🇬
  8. If Forest sign Henderson on loan I believe that would mean they cannot take Garner on loan. A player we are supposedly interested in...
  9. At this stage just an approach and unlikely to be joining this window if indeed he agrees to the move. Great to show some intent though and this is a hugely key role that we need someone good in. Seems Arsenal targetted him previously: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7653189/Arsenal-target-Manchester-City-talent-spotter-recruited-Jadon-Sancho-academy-revamp.html
  10. Interesting that so far there haven't been too many strong links with strikers, considering we absolutely need one. Probably the Awoyini one the strongest. After GK which is virtually sorted its the absolutely key position and we need to replace Broja with someone who will start every week, assuming we cannot get him back on loan again. IMO its not over the top to say the success of whoever we do get will end up deciding our PL status. Hope we have a good idea of the chance of getting Broja again and don't get strung along only for him to go elsewhere or stay at Chelsea. Personally think they would be mad not to use him in their squad this season.
  11. Beach didnt appear to have a pro deal and looks like his scholarship was extended, possibly just to ensure we got some kind of fee from Chelsea. Its possible Saints were not going to offer him a pro deal otherwise why hadn't they already?
  12. All Saints signings, certainly in the PL, are like this. I get that with a GK its a little different as 20 is very young but ultimately we have to trust the club and the scouts that they feel he is worth the gamble. As with all our signings, time will tell.
  13. Incase you missed it, multiple good sources said at the end of last week that we are set to sign Bazunu from Man City for up to £15m. Pompey POTS on loan and current Ireland no1 aged 20. Certainly isnt quiet regarding goalkeeper position.
  14. There have also been reports that Lis did a medical and signed last week. At this stage there is no rush to announce signings, its not like they are even back training yet. Lots of people are on holiday and the club probably prefer to announce properly i.e with video interviews etc rather than just chucking out a one line tweet. I'm sure plenty is going on.
  15. Also shows that an ever increasing amount of players at the mid table sides are letting their contracts run down as it makes them far more attractive to buy than when they have crazy price tags like JWP will this summer. Clear trend, especially with players who sign four year contracts. A year to settle, two to attract attention and by then the selling club are forced to sell for a tame fee versus the quality of the player.
  16. Reads like a rehash of the earlier reports than a new update. Most of the Italian transfer reports are pretty unreliable aside from a few individuals.
  17. Rank the keepers who have made a PL app since promotion. Simultaneously realise how weak a position it has been for us! IMO: 1. Artur Boruc 2. Fraser Forster 3. Alex McCarthy 4. Willy Caballero 5. Angus Gunn 6. Maarten Stekelenburg 7. Kelvin Davis 8. Paolo Gazzaniga

  19. Re JWP reality is that as soon as a club offers him significantly more cash than we can get anywhere near matching, and he wishes to go then its very difficult to keep him - especially when he has given Saints good service and seen lots of others being allowed to go. We also don't know what kind of gentlemens agreements were made as part of his contract. Whether Newcastle are the team to get him away from us, who knows? But if someone seriously does move for him and he wants to go then logic and history tells us he will go.
  20. As ever, money talks. If they double his cash then he will push to go. Saints in a very strong position to name a price so hard to be too concerned as either we keep him or get a whopping fee.
  21. Rasmus Ankersen would surely know him well from the Danish league. Sheldon made a thing of the fact Ralph actually met him before he signed the deal. The fact that was a thing surely shows its a club selection approved by Ralph rather than the other way around. Nothing wrong with that, but interesting nonetheless. Hopefully he and Ralph build a good rapport.
  22. Not one single performance but I remember seeing Neil McCann's first few appearances and quickly realising that he was woefully short of everything needed to play in the PL. Would be suprised if he even got passed the cones in training. Awful cheapo signing when Strachan supposedly wanted Steed Malbranque and Louid Saha and we ended up with McCann and Phillips.
  23. The Athletic Watford Correspondent says Saints are one of the teams who has an interest in Emmanuel Dennis, but that he is just on a list of targets at this stage. Watford would want £20-£25m.
  24. Whats the worst ever performance you have seen from a Saints player? Recency bias, and assuming Jankewitz cameo doesnt even count as a performance but I will start with Charlie Austin away at Fulham in the 3-2 defeat. Have never seen less effort from a pro, was embarassing. Remember some shockers from Gazzaniga too...and Alan Bennett and Olly Lancashire a bit further back.
  25. Assuming his injury is cleared up before pre season starts I wouldn't be at all suprised if he goes straight into the team for the first game. Not going to judge a signing based only on his age. Its his ability and attitude that are more important and if he is turning down a new contract at City to come here for a better chance to play then thats a good start.
