  1. ...but some of you still buy them.
  2. UA trawl the entire world looking for 8 year olds with the least amount of taste and design skills, kidnap them and then have them create 2500 designs in a dark room before allowing them out. Next, a hand picked team of Pompey fans select the three worst designs and have the outlines printed in black and white before handing a colour blind chimp a big bag of crayons to determine the colour scheme for each shirt. Finally a man drops 20,000 of them off at St Marys in the dark of night with a short note attached to the box reminding the Saints commercial director and marketing manager of the photo of them two docking. Quite frankly I don't see any other way they could have come up with the absolute heap of garbage they have so far. I could have all taste, talent and design skills surgically removed and still come up with better than these clowns.
  3. on the front? That doesn't sound good and going on the terrible kits so far, I bet it isn't.
  4. no matter how much we chat about it over the summer, the long and short of it is that it will be pretty similar next season. Without massive spending by the owner, it will take years to gradually offload the **** and replace with better. All we can hope for is good signings that help move us in the right direction, all be it slowly, and perhaps some good form to enable us to go on a cup run.
  5. lowest gate of the season, strangely.

    John Gittens

The first game I saw him play at the Dell he was up against Ian Rush and he had him his in his pocket all game. I thought we had got ourselves an absolute gem, a CB with both pace, power and positional play. Not sure why he didn't because a mainstay in our defence, but there were other decent CBs at the club I guess. That fantastic performance has stuck in my mind and is how I will remember him. 55 is no age.
  7. yes, but don't call me Shirley
  8. I see our friend Neil Allen has been called out by John Marquis on twitter as a lazy journalist
  9. maybe Pep's admiration was genuine and he has decided to buy him as cover for Sterling. I always thought he was a very similar type of player and City always need to add homegrown players to their squad...
  10. very frustrating player. Looks a rolls royce type at times with the ball and has enough pace to hold his own, but he isn't anywhere near dominant enough in the air or ground. We just ship too many goals, although they're not all his fault obviously. His wages means he wont be going anywhere. Its not like we have a lot of other great options in that position. I have to say Vestergaard gets an easy ride. He's so slow, incredibly slow. So much so that we cant risk playing him in a back four. I fail to understand how a scout did not pick that up or did we not care? Yoshida is pretty similar to Stephens in my eyes, very frustrating, looks smooth on the ball at times but just isn't dominant. It's a very tough position to play these days (requiring pace and power and ability on the ball) and thus finding good enough players is difficult. We need to keep looking!
  11. could not agree more, although we have played Redmond quite far forward with some success, which has helped filled a gap to a certain degree. In addition to getting a striker that can offer pace, power and finishing (hopefully with a first touch too) I think we need to upgrade in terms of forward players like Redmond that offer dribbling skills and pace and if possible some goals. But we must get rid of players first to free up funds. Our hands are tied at the moment with so much wages going out the door to players offering us nothing or next to nothing
  12. they got the easiest opponent in Sunderland, who have not been good in recent weeks. Donny followed by Charlton would have been tougher.Still, being clear at the top seems a long time ago now.
  13. not a chance I would spend that sort of money for a league game. Cup final or Milan away, count me in, but £50+ to watch Saints vs Man City, no thanks
  14. £20 to watch a cat C game in the Itchen South is good value.
  15. depends how many members there are I guess. I presume the home games count towards the England travel club point system, so they will take up their full allotment.
  16. Ian man is an elongated triathlon and that's the normal order. From my point of view I'd want to do a bit of freewheeling after a 2.4m swim, not that I would ever consider doing one. Crazy.
  17. I'm with you here. It was very enjoyable to see them lose to Plymouth last time out.
  18. Both Marquis and Donny have a decent record against them. Marquis was the stand out player in both games in the 16/17 season, with Donny winning both games. At **** Park he ran the game completely and looked a rolls royce of a player, although perhaps I fail to take into account the ****ness of the opponent. Donny beat them at home and drew away in the 17/18 season and both games were drawn this season. It will be a tough game for both sides. Clarke is a decent player and has better handled Marquis to be honest. Charlton on the other hand, took the skates apart, so if you want them to go out in the semi final stage, that's the team we need them to get.
  19. ...keep an eye on that offside Solomon...OK don't bother...nice work son. Legend.
  20. forget the mackems, Charlton took the skates apart and will do so again.
  21. Solomon Otabor is my new hero. What a star you are my friend. A play off failure (Charlton will go up by the way) and you will go down in Saints folklore
  22. Aribo is more Pogba than Antonio, but that's a good analogy. He's very technical, skilful as they used to say. He will want paying, but its a no brainer signing if you ask me, so long as we can offer him an opportunity to get games. I like the look of James and Adams. We need additional dribblers in the squad to compliment Redmond and provide cover.
  23. I should have mentioned that he's out of contract this summer, so will be available for bobbins.
  24. didn't we sell Gabbi in January? If we can sell him again in the summer then that's a great piece of business
  25. I like looking at the lower leagues for possibles. The way David Brooks has played this season shows that there is still genuine talent in the football league that can make the jump (as the likes of Lallana did for us of course). Joe Aribo might be that next gem. He looked absolutely terrific when I saw Charlton this year. He has brilliant feet, great vision and surprising strength for a `gangly' type build. The only thing that let him down was his shooting - he seemed to scuff everything - which reminded me of Lallana. I still think we have a lack of flair in the final third and he might offer us that. A two league jump might seem crazy, I know, but this guy just looked head and shoulders above anyone at that level and I think he might make the leap...OK, it's too big a gamble and one for the future, but watch him get snapped up in the summer if they fail to make the play offs. This guy is (as the kids say) a `baller'. Maybe I need to focus on the championship. I really liked the look of Harry Wilson (on loan at Derby from Liverpool) when they played us. Another with obvious ability and the much needed flair in the final third. Might not quite have the pace or power we need to go with that talent, but you can never have too much quality. Big gamble as I am sure he will very expensive. Jamal Lewis at Norwich looked decent too in the Norwich games I saw, but that ship has sailed I suppose. One player I have always wanted to list on this type of thread is John Marquis. I go to watch Donny a few times a year and over the last three years or so he is always impressed me. Great first touch (which is probably the most important thing to determine if you can play at our level), leads the line well and gets in good positions to score goals. He's a one in two scorer, all be it at a lower level. He's not Ricky Lambert, but everyone says we need a target man and I have always wondered if he could replicate at a higher level. OK, so this isnt going to work, but I am posting this anyway.
