  1. just to be clear I said limited, not useless. When the side is weakened he doesn't stand out at all. He doesn't get hold of a game and lead by example, he just disappears into the mediocrity. When in a stronger side we carry him. As I said, he's a decent tidy footballer, but we should be able to do much much better. RK bought Morgan. Why didn't he come back for,Clasie?
  2. No one signs much in January. Good point, but it depends what you regard as being the problems. Lightweight midfield and underperforming keeper are two issues for, example in addition to the CB and striker issues
  3. meh. Perfect eduction for being a saints fan in my book.
  4. He gives the ball away a lot. I think fans see some talent and he is at least forward thinking, which is why he gets an easier ride than Classie and JWP. He has youth on his side thankfully.
  5. first game back to be fair. He looked equally woeful in that quarter final game at Sheff United, but again I think it was a first game. I'm not convinced he will come good, but He needs a run of games.
  6. Doubt Crul will settle for a place on the bench. Whoever I have seen him he has looked too draw. Is he? We have invested a huge amount in Forster, so he will go no where, but I'd be tempted to trade.
  7. A very good point, but sadly the FA seems to have no power whatsoever over the Premier league.
  8. there is of course McCarthy, who I haven't seen much of, but it feels like a weak batch of keepers to me. Forster needs to get his confidence back and McCarthy his fitness and then suddenly it will look much better. I suggested we sign Gordon three years ago, but that ship has sailed.
  9. we have far too many lightweight, slow and small midfielders. The game may have changed a great deal in recent years, but we don't win any headers, tackles or second balls. Because of that we do so much running after opponents. Id sell Classie if we got an offer. He is so limited. Reed is very similar. Both are neat and tidy and decent footballers, but if we want to progress then we need better players than them. I guess they and Hojbjerg are reserves behind Romeu, Davis and JWP, but apart from Romeu no one offers any physical presence at all. Poor squad balance.
  10. When did it become acceptable to charge £15 for a reserve team game? I can understand some changes, but I don't know why we are giving Lewis game time. He is not good enough yet and uncles s Forster is carrying a knock then he should start. Perhaps the other changes were forced although Redmond and Tadic looked pretty sharp to me. If Yoshida was injured why was he on the bench? I last saw Isgrove against Sheff United in that terrible cup game and he was woeful. He looked equally out of his depth tonight. It wasn't just that he was terribly lightweight, did nothing with and without the ball, he looked out on his feet after just 50 minutes. He stood around for about ten minutes before being subbed and that's not good enough. I can't get that Sheffield game out of my head and the CB partnership tonight offered equal measures of ineptnous. It's harsh to jump Gardos back first game, but Stephens had a poor night. More worrying for me is that midfield. Classie and Hojbjerg is £20m of spending and so far it doesn't look value. Classie is simply not good enough. Hojbjerg tries hard, but will need to improve a lot to justify the fee. Reed and Classie in the same side is folly.
  11. The extended break before Spurs didn't help us much thou...
  12. agreed. Which hopefully means no one will bother next season and they then scrap it. I ****ing hate this pay a premium, jump the queue bull****.
  13. they say the first five are in the head...so...I will leave that hanging.
  14. Personally I don't think it will be a factor at all. Stevens was good enough in the semi, so if push comes to shove he will be given his head in the final too. Any signing will be looked at in terms of a multi year contract. How he can help the club over an extended period not one game
  15. particularly liked how he kept the ball when we desperately needed an outlet and a breather. Really pleased he has performed well in the last few games as fans were starting to get on his back. Get behind him and he can be a good player for us.
  16. that might be true, but in this specific circumstance you are effectively paying a tax on your ticket tax... such is life...and I know if I don't want one I don't have to pay either.
  17. I've said much the same thing. Imagine if both Yoshida and Stevens were starting their first games last night. Rotation has its advantages as well as disadvantages.
  18. nothing worse than seeing away fans go bat **** mental at SMS. It usually means they have scored a late winner, or are skates or both...painful. I suspect it was pretty painful for Liverpool fans seeing us do just that last night. That's football I suppose.
  19. isn't 15% the unofficial equity requirement companies ask for before offering a place on the board?
  20. Membership has a booking fee. WTF? What a ****ign world we live in.
  21. it doesn't. If you bought a ticket then were ill and didn't attend they couldn't then take that purchase away from you.
  22. how many memberships I wonder. A few more after last night. £25 Wembley ticket tax...
  23. yes, that certainly was another thrilling day.
  24. not sure why away games don't count, but we have been here before so everyone knew the score. I hate the idea of paying for a membership, but it seems as though that is the only way of getting a ticket.
  25. Having invested a lot of time and money hoping and praying for a last minute semi final winner that saw us through to Wembley, all my dreams came true. Quite simply, there is nothing quite like the feeling you get when witnessing something like that, at Anfield too...fantastic. The scenes of joy and wild celebration when we scored will live with me forever. As Long's goal went it took me back to Barry Horne's goal against Bolton, Camaras' goal against Norwich, Lambert's goal at **** park, and Jhon Viafara and Rasiak's levellers at Pride Park. There might be a few others, but that absolute and undiluted pure joy and genuinely crazy goal celebrations are very hard to come by. I pogo'd with the best of them last night. Nothing held back, just jubilation. It been along time since I got myself a goal celebration injury (its a corking bruise), but that just adds to the occasion. I hope I can get a final ticket, but even if I don't, this is the sort of experience and feeling that I have chased for over 30 years watching Saints. Not the wins, not the glory, just the buzz of a late winner in a big big game that really means something. Hope you all enjoyed it as much as me. Que Sera Sera has never sounded so good (or lasted so long)...
