  1. absolutely spot on. No matter what you think of both players, they are terrific prospects (both England U21 squad players) and the only real talent we have at the club. With players like Ledley and Fabian Delph seemingly having £6m price tags and Ben Watson going for £2m, Lowe is not going to let either leave for £1m or whatever. The key thing is how close are we to administration and is there a chance that Skacel will leave.
  2. I still don't see an answer as to why Wotte went from front runner for manager to being a number 2. If Wotte had come in as a number 2 to Cruyff then I could understand it, but he came in as a number 2 to Jan. I doubt Lowe is this clever, but perhaps he thought he'd bring in Jan to coach whilst he was offloading all and sundry and we would inevitably find it tough going, then when we had reached rock bottom and had to sack the manager he'd bring in Wotte as his saviour. This theory falls flat on its arse as Lowe still gets the blame for bringing in the failing JP in the first place, for selling off the players, and for sacking yet another manager. Besides its in Lowes best interest for the side to do well so he is going to employ the best available manager he can afford (and we know Wotte is cheap as he came anyway) - so long as they were not brought in by previous chairman!
  3. you are right we haven't scored enough goals and certainly a host of chances have been missed in some games, but I have also been to countless games where we've created **** all. Add to this there have been many many other games where we have been carved open oftem right down the middle. A strong midfielder is a MUST IMO who can allow Surman to prosper. Actually I can't argue that we need a striker. Every position needs to be improved keeper apart.
  4. Looking at Wottes comments on the OS it looks like he will only be able to make one signing. IMO that needs to be a CM not a striker. Patterson, McGoldrick, Saga, Lallana and BWP ought to be enough. Perhaps I have too much faith in one or two of those, but in contrast I have little trust in Schneiderlin, Gillett, Wotton and Surman. I can only hope this new striker makes the same sort of impact that Saga did two seasons ago, although people should note that it was Guthrie that really turned our season for me.
  5. What is his grasp of the English language like? Is it better or worse than Jan? I always found Jan's post match interviews to be very confusing and couldn't help but think that perhaps his team talks were probably the same. Also, why was Wotte not installed as manager in the first place.?He was the guy they were going to install before they chose Burley, how did Jan get into the equation?
  6. £570,000 and rising daily.
  7. I'm a Saints fan get me out of here.
  8. The man at behind me can't see the game...lucky him! Wotte no Jan?
  9. was Bullard (another player with limited pace) any better tahn Surman when playing for Wigan in the CCC? Look at was he has achieved in recent seasons. bEN Watson is going to Boro for £2m and he's not as as good as Surman IMO. Gary O'Neil went for £5m and Surman will be a better player than him.
  10. with the **** players we have at the moment (presuming he was not responsible for signing them) Jan didn't have a chance. Saying that he still made some errors with those left at his disposal. I don't expect Wotte to turn things round, but at least Lowe has given him time to buy/loan players should that be possible.
  11. you tell me. Cameron Jerome would be handy from Brum. Jerome Thomas has just gone back to Charlton I think. I don't think he is what we need.
  12. no one ever explained to me where all that money goes. The mortgage is £2m, running the academy was £1m (but including staffing costs I assume), where does the rest go on insurance, electric/gas bills, lawyers costs etc?

  14. do you mean Jemaine Johnson?
  15. at what club, Reading or Sheff Wed?
  16. I agreed and suggested that a month or so ago and felt Gilletts `hussle' was essential to the side defensively, but after the United game and one or two recent sub appearances I'm not sure I can back Gillett anymore. His first touch is so hit amd miss and in the middle it has to be spot on otherwise you lose posession in a dangerous area and leave the whole side exposed. Unless his touch improves then all you have is a busy short midfielder. At this level you have to have one or two strings to your bow not just a decent engine. Controlling the CM area wins you games and needless to say we are weak in that area.
  17. he has always showed potential, if a lack of strength to kick the ball further than 25 yards, but in terms of ability and pace he matches Ryan Smith. Smith must be on less dosh I suppose.
  18. BT's goal against Watford and the realisation that we are going to the final brought a tear to my eye, but Moran's goal is like your wildest dream come true.
  19. that is how I see it as well. The lad has the first touch and ability to play in tight areas, he has a trick as well (how many nut megs over the last few years). What he needs is UNIT next to him that wins balls, can pass and is mobile. Obviously hard to find but a must IMO. Pele would be an option or someone like him. I could see promise in Gobern to be honest and in years to come perhaps he will grasp the nettle.
  20. the same injured Schneiderlin who has made 5 tackles all season, the same Gillett that has yet to learn to control a ball and the same Wotton that couldn't out run my gran? Surman is by no means the complete player but I'd gladly lose all three of those and keep him.
  21. good point. I always thought we should have signed Tabb after he tookj us to pieces when we played Brentford twice in the cup a few years back. Bit small but decent player.
  22. agreed. He didn't do squat against us in either game, though his effort and workrate certainly are to be commended. he probably is the sort of player you need in a Premiership squad to allow others the time and space to shine but £5m seems high. Mind you I'd take him over someone like Gary O'Neil who also went for £5m
  23. you could try to make a claim for the cost of the remaining unplayed games (assuming we do not play them) but you'll be at the back of a long queue of creditors whose debts are real. Besides I'd expect to only get a few pence in the pound anyway looking at the size of our debt. Administration is the very last thing we want. People make light of it on here because they think it will see the end of Lowe. It won't. I'd bet my bottom dollar Lowe and pals already have a proposal in the offing should administration take place. The current encumbants have a huge advantage over outsiders when it comes to negotiating a deal. They know all the facts and tend to be much better prepared. I would be wary of any small loans that Lowe and pals have will offer the club in the next few months as being a creditor will enable him to have a say whether or not agree to any offer made in a cva. I believe (I might be wrong) that Bates (as a major creditor) effectively turned down any offers made ensuring his own offer was accepted. I'm not sure Lowe has the wedge to dictate as Bates did, but those at the rudder can work things to their advantage thats for sure.
  24. Hunt is slightly headless chicken and Surman has better ability on the ball. The long and short of it if Hunt goes Coppell will want a replacement. Surman is available.
  25. Assuming this is true. I would be interested to know when New Zealand Saint's dad put this to Lowe. If it was very recently then it puts pay to any thoughts of us going into administration - which IMO is a very good thing. I just wonder if Lowe is wary of selling his shares to anyone as they may be acting on behalf of Crouch. Just a thought.
