  1. This site should be renamed "Troll-web". There is hardly a thread that one or other of the notorious trolls here won't infect by the same-old Trolling commentary. The content varies but the sentiments remain the same, it's pyschological warfare until Saintswebforum is battered into dazed submission by weight of pessimistic words on any subject. Many SWF users are not necessarily catagorised as "happy-clappy" which is often the label attributed to anyone of a less than miserably pessimistic outlook regarding Saints but one needs to have almost infinite reserves of positivity to keep coming back here to read the constant wrist slitting commentary that infects even the most benign threads. Theres always a place for pessimism i guess but does'nt it get, well, just depressing, constantly finding the negatives then wailing and wringing hands over every single thing we do wrong? And theres so much opportunity to do so these days too. Like shooting fish in a barrel. Harder to find reasons to be cheerful in the words of Ian Dury but we won't be allowed that if the black bordered attachment to every thread carries on. Goodness knows Saints fans have had a hell of a lot to put up with over the years - our annual fight against relegation for instance - but that was never undermined by doomsayers on quite this scale as i recall- though of course that was pre-internet forums. So we are getting battered every week on the pitch and then for good measure we get more online. Ah well. It will get worse and worse and then we will fold and the club can disappear, maybe then some will have the ultimate satisfaction of saying "i told you we were ****e" that one last time, we switch off the lights close the doors and go and suipport Eastleigh or whoevers left...

    Manny Mayuka

Totally agree. Mayuka should start and De Ridder should be on the bench as the "impact" sub. No disrespect to Guly but as an "impact" player he really does not actually satisfy the criteria in the games he has come on in this season. That being the case then others should be given the opportunity to make that impact - either starting or on the bench- Mayuka and SDR being the case in point. It seems entirely logical and reasonable to me. Its not just the starting 11 that are under scrutiny- you have to ask what was the "impact" of the subs too, and this season from Guly in particular and barring that ridiculous dropping of Lambert at City, its been nothing. I was pleased with Reeves impact to be fair - well done lad.
  3. Interviewer: So, Paulo, you've been rumoured to be in line for the southampton job, perhaps a chance to work in the premiership, thats got to be of interest to you right?" PDC. "why you saya dat? You no have-a respect for da manager and-a dat is why you are-a ****- journalista and-a when i am-a da manager of a club, maybe southampton maybe another club you-a will not-a be allowed to come to da match, now go away-a before i send you-a to train with da bambini".
  4. Post match interview: "So Paulo, your first match in charge of Saints and a resounding 3-0 defeat, whats your take on that? PDC: "My-a players they play a-**** again and-a tomorrow I am-a gonna put all of dem to transfer list but-a i know nobody will-a come for them because-a they all-a seen how sheet they are so I am-a stuck with dem, the useless communisti. But i will-a play the bambini team against Liverpool because i know dey will-a try harder not-a like the idiots that should be ashame to put on-a de shirt of southampton. I will-a play myself to-a show you. And if-a anyone gets past a me i just chop them up. Dats it. My-a players must-a show they are-a willing to die for da shirt or i will not-a pick them. From today match- nobody want to die. I will-a change that. Da team not scared-a to die will always beat da other team , even if have not so good player you capisce? "
  5. I don't see it myself though I admit to a penchant for Di Canio. He is an un reconstructed fascist and tends to say what he thinks. Instead of " it was the refs fault " or we have got injuries" he says it like it is. He was a classy player and is pure box office for Swindon and SKY whenever he opens his mouth. Would love to see him telling some of our players to stop switching off and start playing like they are being paid a shedload of money as top professionals not to fall asleep from corners and so forth..."ow, Jos, you must-a not-a score-a da goal in a our net, anda stoppa give away da penalty or I drop-a you to kids team, you capisce? ;-) " "eh, a danny, why you not mark-a da man?", "boruc, no be afraid like-a pansy boy, when da ball he come in da box you must-a be in charge and take-a control of it or a kick you in da ****** send you train with-a kids"....." A jose why you kick-a da ball far away to there-a player, why you no look-a to see where-a you-a kick it? Passa da ball to our player or i sub you anda make-a you train with the bambini team! Oh i could have endless fun with this. PS im allowed because im italian to take the P out of the accent so its not racist!
  6. Sorry - you are right, i didnt mean to sound like an old fart but i probably did. Im not depressed about Saints either- its more likely normal service resumed after two unusually different years.... Anyone who knows me or has seen me under tables at Saints away venues up and down the country and overseas will know I am a great advocate of the benefits of lubricating the vocal chords with alcoholic refreshment ahead of watching Saints play. It's always been a source of comfort to me. Just think its a bit off message for 2012 inside the stadium but then again, its a strange world.
  7. Lol, good point- I do hope Saintsfc take that into account!
  8. Hmm, Yes really. I run a health club. I suffer the hypocrisy and am conflicted when my club does alcoholic drinks promotions, even if im a good cuistomer of them myself! Doing it within a football stadium is just asking for trouble. A better priced meal with wine - i get it, a limited offer on other drinks i get it - but an out and out call to turn up early and get smashed inside the ground thinly disguised as a carling voucher is mental. Don't get me wrong - I'm no hypocrite so Im delighted at the cheap booze - BUT - its the wrong message and about twenty years out of date, and about 750 miles north east of the Ibiza bars where it has also ruined there reputation. Still an epic fail.
  9. Its rubbish and not at all that classy or clever for our image. Big f,up in my opinion and a right downward direction in terms of our profile. It says " turn up early and get ****faced with your mates ahead of the match at SMS because we are a club that encourages binge drinking and by inference the yob culture that is part and parcel of it" . What fecking dinosaur marketing genius gave the ok on this? We all know binge drinking is what happens anyway in the pubs beforehand and indeed is virtually a necessity if you are a long suffering Saints supporter - but at least before we had the thinly veiled hypocrisy of it not being encouraged within the bowels of the stadium by the club itself. I would imagine hants police are delighted. Drunken, angry fans are so much easier to handle when they've been created by what could reasonably be called a negligent club contributing poorly to its own health and safety within the stadium .... Sorry but its an epic fail for me.
  10. [The main disappointment is how little anyone seems to be enjoying any of it. Very true indeed. This Forum is full of some poor tortured souls to say the least. Those who have supported Saints for more than the last two years are aware that this is business as usual but thats scant consolation. It really is quite amusing to see how much of a froth people can build up with self important self appointed expert status indignity over what Nigel did next. It's never been clearer to me how ignorant and how fickle we supporters can be. And you wonder why some players and even the clubs can regard the support with contempt sometimes. I've lost count of the Managers we have had in the recent past but I like Nigel the best and i want him to stay. I believe in his philosophy, even if it's out of a book, but I also understand that the football evolution is not linear. There are ups and downs. Two straight years of ups must be followed by some struggle. To think otherwise is, frankly, ludicrous. Name one team in the last twenty years thats got promoted from div 1 to championship and then to dominate the EPL? None, just to survive is amazing - ask Norwich and Swansea. What we are doing at Southampton is virtually unprecedented. And thanks in no small part to Nigel.
  11. For those of you not interested in reading the rest of this thread I can summarise it as follows: Turkish : Whine, sarcastic whinge, put-down retort, self-justifying comment, whine, sarcastic whinge, put-down retort. Dig Dig. Whine, sarcastic whinge, self-justifying comment, put-down retort, whine, sarcastic whinge. Dig Dig. Others: Please stop you are making us feel suicidal. We got it the first time. Something is not right at SMS and you are freaking worried about it to the extent that you feel we should be soiling our communal knickers over it. Grow a pair ffs, or get a bigger nappy.
  12. Thank you, interesting piece.
  13. No mistakes, complimented by NA on catching, kicking and a good block. Does this warrant him being dropped for Boruc or KD in the very next match? Pushed out to sub on the bench or even third choice not in the 25? I think that if the rationale was to drop KD due to 14 goals conceded and try something different, and that something different has worked, I think NA should start Gazzaniga v Everton myself. I also dont think KD needs to play v wednesday to get his mojo back. I think Boruc should start with KD on the bench for that. Depending upon that performance then Saturday i would start Gazza with either KD or Boruc sub keeper, ie a possibility of KD not even making the 25, almost unthinkable barely two weeks ago.
  14. We will concede needless goals with zonal marking if we carry on at this rate. I like the idea and i understand the statistics and I know we are not a huge team atm BUT it does worry me that we are so obviously ****e at defending corners atm. If i can see it so can Moyes. What are the odds Fellaini, Zamora,Crouch, Fletcher and Carroll will score against us from a corner then in future? Pretty good id say given that we look vulnerable at EVERY corner and you just knew Bentebe (sp?) was going to go for every ball and probably win it as he did yesterday. The plus side side looking forward with zonal marking is Gazzaniga. Once he gains fuller confidence and a tad more experience his assets of being an young athletic 6ft 5" mean he should command the six yard box better like for like than a 6ft 1" older KD - so those strong headers of the ball type forwards above should not have it so easy from close to the goal. If they can score a header from fifteen yards out fair play to them.
  15. I think JWP is a fantastic english talent and Im proud he is one of ours. I want him to start every match he can. I think he can go to Brazil with England if we qualify. I really do.
  16. This. Plus: I dont support Saints because i want to see them win every week. I support Saints because they represent something beyond that for me. I think, i hope NC has got something of that in him. He is reaching for the stars and he wants to do it the right way. We've never bought an old has been yet, we've only ever bought young and promising and talented then supported them. A team that prides itself on bringing through youth team players into the main squad yet which ditches its young english manager in such a short space of time - it makes no sense to me. Id rather NA stayed, we played great footy and got relegated than some old fart come in and we played horrible stuff yet grovelled enough to stay up.
  17. Thats what i'm doing out of necessity. Got into Arsenal with Pavsaint oooh ages back without a ticket for a midweek match (think it was wgs last game it was that long ago) doing exactly that. And got four tickets for Palace away last year same way. Its probably changed and different at Emirates but gonna try anyway. Helps if you wear a suit and have a bit of a cockney accent ( had to tell Pav to shut up basically):-).
  18. Also on betfair and bet365 if you have an account. Ramirez playing behind a very strong front three of Suarez, Cavani and Forlan in a must win match.
  19. Japan win 1-0 and we could have at least one Saint playing in Brazil 2014...Yoshida plays the full 90 against ok not world class but not too shabby opposition and does not get injured or look out of place, far from it, Japan look like a well organised team and he has got composure for sure. A nice warm up for Arsenal i reckons...I think we are going to like him.
  20. Its a full house, big noisy crowd. He wont get worried by emirates stadium and 60,000 put it that way. fwiw. He is playing the more withdrawn of the two cb's - what used to be called the sweeper. Seems mobile and plays with head up.
  21. Not done anything wrong. What is striking though is how similar to Saints that Japan play. I swear change the kit and it could be Saints. The cb's pass it around, the fb's look to push on, lots of passing, hardly any "hoof" always on the floor. If hes ok playing for Japan that way hes def ready to play for saints. Im feeling reassurred.
  22. Yoshida playing number 22. 1-0 at ht. Just seen Iraq goalie pull off an absolute worldie save....amazing...save of the season already done and dusted i think...
  23. Japan are being streamed live on betfair, decent picture. If you want to watch our boys playing in these kind of matches they are often on bet365 or betfair so its worth opening an account with £1 just to watch the live footie.
  24. Totally agree. Watch the hands not the mouth. Look at who plays and how we play and not who sits on the bench. IF the younger players get to play ahead of the next world cup ( and not 15 minutes against Greece in a friendly) then we might get somewhere. IF our under 21 played football instead of hoofball like they did against Norway then we might have a chance but how can they go from that to whatever mutant version Roy uses for the senior squad? Face it- our "best goal" in the euros was a long cross virtually from the halfway line that our big cf headed in. That style was invented in the 1950's" You NEVER see Spain do that. If Adam gets on I hope that he is played correctly and not in some botched up position to allow others to express how technically incompetent they still are after 50plus caps.
  25. I just hope that if we are going to put someone on for the last twenty minutes then its not going to be yet another fast runner ; we've seen that already and we didnt win any medals with that alone. Instead I hope its Adam, a modern footballer, threading passes, keeping possession and making goals for himself, Defoe and Gerrard when he comes on for Milner who will have had yet another ineffective game doing whatever it is he does so predictably anonymously and to such little effect, apart from run around a lot and win the prozone most distance covered award.
