"Well, they played some good stuff early on and caused City sone real problems, but...."

It wasn't a cross, was the problem.

Walker-Peters=Bobby Moore

So, we could have lost all three games since restart (which would have been 5 straight defeats, or one win in eight) and we'd still be seven points clear of relegation. When we hit 34 points on February 22nd and I said we were safe, this was what I was getting at. We were safe safe safe then, as is being borne out now. Oh well, same again next season, only I hope we hit 34 points by Christmas.

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
CB Fry replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
This whole saga seems utterly absurd. But it keeps coming back and back in various platforms. I'm not sure I'll ever believe it, though. -
The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.

He said he doesn't believe in gestures. The same man who last Sunday was on the front page of the Mail on Sunday doing press ups. -
Okay fair enough - I had another look and it is typical vague guidelines. I think the point stands that the big chain sport pubs I think will probably avoid showing anything if they want to control their punters. Equally the locals will definitely show it.

Registration of Charge: MacQuarie Bank vs MSD Holdings
CB Fry replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
I, for one, welcome our new American overloads. -
Pubs aren't supposed to be showing sport. So that will knock out the Walkabouts and Yates of this world. But i would think that local locals will say fuck that and just have the telly on. Not Saints related but this Saturday is the Derby v Forest local derby and I'd be amazed if the three pubs in my village don't have it on.

I'm sure he did, sometime around 1990.

More likely that in the transfer window they will sign some Carlos Kickaball for £45m again and this forum will go into meltdown again about how we are being left behind. Again.

West Ham are gaining on us, they're gaining on us, they're gaining on us we're going down we're going down we're going down oh god oh god oh god.
-
Hahahahahahahahahahaha But seriously, fuck off Bournemouth. Fuck right off.
-
Rightly or wrongly he's risking being "de-funded" by Sky Sports himself. They will want a quiet life and they'd probably like the opportunity to update their current top five Soccer Saturday pundits and bring in one who isn't a white bloke.

I think this is right - it's not quite as straightforward as the facile "we're a selling club we sell everyone he's gone" response we're seeing from some on here. The main thing we need to fear is incredibly rich clubs panicking and offering money that neither the club or the player can turn down. Mainly Newcastle with Arab money looking to makes some statement signings. Maybe a desperate Manchester United at the end of a transfer window panic buying. Everton for a similar reason. He's having a great season but I don't think he is of a calibre that the biggest clubs in the world/country are going to be interested in for the fee that would be required. I don't think for a minute he would be of particular interest to Man City or Chelsea etc. I'd like to think Danny will use this to get himself another year on the contract, a bigger piece of the image rights/merch pie, a pay rise - plus at the same time maintain the stability, squad status and the manager that have helped him get to the brink of the Euros squad. Plus on top of that if he stays he locks himself in as a loyal club legend. Not convinced he would see pitching up to "start again" at Newcastle or Everton as being the greatest move for him. I still fear the crazy money but balance of probabilities I think he is more likely to stay than go.

Maybe we should finish in the top half before people start congratulating themselves on being right about finishing in the top half.

In the same way that the originator of the Thursday clapping thing came out and gave permission for everyone to stop, I think BLM need to do something similar. We've reached the point where the purpose of "awareness" has been achieved. Taking the knee at every match for infinity is not going to actually achieve anything, it's not going make people any more "aware". BLM/Premier League/Kick it out/etc need to agree some actual tangible actions from here, including lobbying the government.

On relegation - Norwich are gone, then I'd like to see Bournemouth gone. West Ham would be the funniest relegation but I think it will be Villa.
-
Leeds and WBA looked nailed on. If Derby don't go on a decent run and nip up in the play offs then Forest. Basically selfish local away games for me* *virus permitting. Failing that, plucky old Brentford who can be a "breath of fresh air" before Christmas then fuck of out of it in 19th by June.

Yes. I think it is pretty clear we aren't the 8th best team in the league. If we make top half that would be a satisfying season considering the start of it, and represents genuine progression from the clown/Hughes era.
-
Why would they not have the poppy come November? The Legion are absolutely in bed with the Premier League and there is full-on poppy mania every year without fail. I'm not sure why you are "imagining" things that absolutely won't happen. Dry your bed sheets mate.

yes I was getting to that - fat fingers on new forum...!

I can't see any genuine big club going on for him - he'd cost too much for his age and I think all those clubs would look elsewhere as more exciting global talent. The only clubs that I think would be in for him are those desperate to spend/show intent/make an impact. And who major global talent doesn't want to sign for. And those clubs are a) Everton - but a former Liverpool player who is still thought highly of by their fans? Feels unlikely. OR b) Newcastle powered by crazy Arab money. Would be a perfect signing from their perspective. If they offered him and us absolutely mental money maybe that might happen but like others I think he's done the big club thing and maybe he'd quite like to be a legend for us instead.

Still believe that Adams will come good. Would be disappointed if he goes because he feels like he has a role to play.

Only one hoof that Vestergaard misreads away from an equaliser.
