  1. Well it might do. They are significantly bigger than we are.
  2. Spurs clearly do tick some of those boxes. They are pretty good on young players for a start.
  3. Like a profile of Jason Dodd: Caretaker Manager. "Our hunt for the right man" Les Reed speaks out as the search continues. "Our dream is real" Owen Coyle's vision for taking Saints into the top four.
  4. Hoddle took over Saints from a good manager who had assembled a decent team but was underperforming. That manager left in surprising circumstances. Hoddle stayed a year, made us tough to beat, but playing solid, passing football and we shot up the table. Hoddle fled to Spurs after 12 months. Obviously that couldn't happen again. Obviously. Oh god.
  5. I don't think MP will go, mainly because NC will not let it happen now and MP will probably think he might as well hang in with us and wait for something better (ie not worth fighting Cortese over). At this point I don't see MP as being so ravenously ambitious that he will jump at the first chance. But who knows? In fairness in the next two/three years what is MP going to be offered that is bigger than Spurs?
  6. This. Can't see Levy going for MP now - he won't be in the mood for another young, unproven European manager. He'll go tried and trusted, experience and authority. So almost certainly Capello or Neil Warnock.
  7. There's a little boy/girl with a rare terminal disease and everyone that posts on this thread will raise ten dollars to pay for his/her urgent care/trip to Disneyland. Please forward this to everyone you know!
  8. We'd want more money than anyone would be prepared to pay for 32 year old. Can't quite see it.
  9. LOL. I think most of us remember the fantasies you've come out with this year. The "voice of reason" outfit don't really fit that well when you are a mentalist.
  10. What exactly did I "claim" you were saying apart from responding to the quotes that the two of you wrote, and giving my own reply? You both (as others have also noted, mainly because it is in what you had actually written, nothing to do with anything I've "claimed" you've written) were keen to agree that not having a national day was linked to the fact that our cities/regions don't get on. I just pointed out what utter boll ocks that is. Because it is. Tell you what Pap. If you like you can accuse me of you "claiming" it is boll ocks if it gives you some enemy to babble against. And yeah, thanks for the life advice earlier. Conspiro-fu ckwits tend to be a very rich seam of perspective, sense and balance, I find, and never, ever make a fool of themselves.
  11. He's on fire. The perfect appointment. Right man, right club at the right time, looking very good to take them up, and start to rebuild his reputation. Hope he won't do an Appleton and jump ship to WBA.
  12. This. Cortese wanted him out, he got him out. Sacked in August. Took over at Newcastle only days later. In, well, December. Laughable the lengths the Cult of Cortese will go to in bullsh it weaving.
  13. There is a genuinely decent chant for MP somewhere in that song. Unfortunately we won't get to hear it until Pochettino becomes manager of Man City. And then three years after that the Northam adapt it to a quicker sh ittier song about whoever our manager is then and Portsmouth.
  14. Pretty sure Morgan credits Pards as playing a key role in his development, and said so in an interview in the last year or so. So no, basically. Next.
  15. So the person you quoted as "getting it" (who basically said national celebration wouldn't work because of rivalry like Southampton/Pompey) doesn't "get it" after all. That was quick. It's all in the quotes above. Fascinating insight into the fluidity of the mind of the conspiro-nutcase.
  16. Quite. And it's not like it's a different Chief Exec. Why would either party go back? Really can't see it.
  17. Whereas people from North and South Wales, people from Swansea and Cardiff, and People from Glasgow and Edinburgh, and heck people in Glasgow all simply love each other. Local/regional/inter-city hatred is not some exclusively English thing. It's a completely universal human experience, from the least developed Pacific tribe to New York City. So yes Pap. "At last Someone gets it". Handily you're both wrong.
  18. Basically had a lovely little six month honeymoon taking Hodgson's team on a blistering start to last season but has been appalling for a year and clear relegation form since January. Anyway, don't quite get Saints fans on here giving it the "the world's gone mad" routine. They are only following the Southampton way.
  19. What are you saying then? Are our competitors Spurs and Liverpool for CL spots or Cardiff and QPR and other mid-sized clubs? Come on Mr Comprehension, do tell. PS. My frame of reference is real life, not computer games.
  20. Chuffed to the boll ocks just to be nominated. I hate you and everyone like you, Bearsy.
  21. That sounds like you are talking about "merely adding extra seats" there, MLG. Is it about that after all then? And at last we agree. Villa and Everton are bigger clubs than us. And our expectations are not to be competing regularly for CL spots with Chelsea and Man U but with QPR and Cardiff in the clogged up middle of the Premier League. I reckon our stadium is big enough for that to be honest.
  22. Cardiff and QPR are potential rivals? I thought you said we were bigger than Villa and Everton?
  23. Yes. None of those things will better enable us to compete at any higher level than now. Kinda like Reading and Bolton having hotels has not catapulted them into the Champions League, and Chelsea are in the Champions League because of a billionaire owner, not because they have a hotel. That stuff is neither here nor there if the objective is competing at the highest level possible.
  24. Not sure how spending millions and millions on expanding a stadium we currently cannot sell out for all but the obvious games (despite having the best season we've had for thirty odd years) is going to "increase revenue streams" or help us "compete", especially as we will go from an apparent debt free club to one with significant non-team related debts commitments. And, as far as I can see, we are "competing".
  25. I didn't realise it wasn't so great at SMS. Just goes to show all the "haven't won at x since y" stuff is all balls. Don't think we'll win tomorrow though. We never win in Newcastle.
