Ok thanks! I did not realise it was this easy to solve.

There may be no way these players can keep us up. But FWIW I have not given up just yet

Appleton leaves the skates and joins Blackpool
Bucks Saint replied to NorthamSteve's topic in The Saints
So to summarise, skates have: - no owner - no money - no manager - no buyer - no players (mostly short term loans) But the bestest fans in the world ever ever, promise -
Simple yet top post

Ok thanks. There are plenty of managers out of work but as soon I start naming any, these will be picked on as if I am backing them. I don't care about their attributes as I would like to see Nigel turn it around and so stay with us. I hope he does. In my opinion
-
Of course i accept decisions to fire managers are not made overnight, they are usually based on a string of poor performances. But whatever the risk of installing a rubbish interim person, is it really more stabilising to keep a manager when you have concluded all is lost/ he cant turn it around, and carry on losing games and having morale sapped among players and supporters, with speculation and media interest going off the chart, while you take your time to consider a replacement? There are managers around who are out of work, who can start immediately. If Cortese thinks as you suggest, what happens if we beat Swansea and QPR and morale improves, does he still fire him no matter what? Tricky position to keep someone in the role if he has 100% decided to replace him soon
-
Not disagreeing with you. Just don't believe the only reason Cortese kept Nigel this week is because we don't have a replacement
-
Perhaps. But you would hope that if we did make a change, first we would be more attractive than Wolves, and second we would not pick someone worse
-
Ok I bow down to your better knowledge. No club every fires a manager (having decided he has to go) and then chooses a new guy and installs him one week, two, or three later
-
Mate talk about not reading the posts correctly. I said that (assuming it is true that Cortese has told Adkins he can continue in charge, for a period at least) I don't believe it is only because Cortese does not have an immediate replacement lined up. That's all
-
Ok. I dont remember other occasions across Europe when a chairman has concluded the manager has to go, things will only get worse, there is no chance of improvement, but then leaves him in charge for a few more games. I could be wrong of course. Cortese likes to do things differently, that's for sure
-
So Cortese has concluded he has to go, that he will not turn it around, but he has left him in charge for some more games (having concluded we will lose those as well) with all the knock on impact on points, the players, staff and supporters, only because he has not yet picked a new manager? This would be a first
-
Where did I say that? I was responding to the speculated reason why Cortese has not sacked him (being only that we don't have a replacement lined up). Nonsense IMO
-
Nothing to do with his record since joining us then? Or his positive enthusiasm and ability to learn being worth a longer go? Or that clubs who dump managers when in the bottom three much more often than not don't turn it around? Or longer serving managers always do better? Just saying

Fair comment re Swansea but I don't think anyone believes there is an easy win for us out there *****il maybe the 3rd of the FAC)

Closed thread awaits?

Why do we have to choose? Should have bought both
-
We won a penalty (which we very sportingly declined to accept)

The support

Most depressing part of MNF was when G Neville was slightly stuck for words when asked: "any positives at all for Southampton?"
-
No pace? We are not blessed with pace in the team, he has more than most. Use the right sticks to beat him with, if you must
-
Yep, very impressive support throughout, which kept going at 2-0 and in the closing minutes when it was all over. Support for Adkins top notch.

Well done

Goal disallowed correctly. Spot on decision per GN on Sky tonight
