What a comeback, what a pivotal moment in our club’s history! I have little doubt now that we will march on to a cup double and secure our Premier League safety with several games to spare. The war in Ukraine will end, the NHS will recover, the strikes WILL be satisfactorily concluded, offering staff fair working conditions and pay whilst also protecting the best interests of tax payers. Everything is going to be fine, and we owe it all to Nathan Jones (plus possibly a gust of wind). I love football!

Sad news and a reminder of our mortality. I saw him make his Chelsea debut at the Dell in 1996 (I think), which was Graeme Souness' first game in charge. To think he's no longer with us is a sobering thought as he was a fit, healthy young man then. I can't believe that was nearly 30 years ago now. He's one of the few away players I saw where there was some genuine awe from my side due to what he'd achieved in the game. One of the others was Ruud Gullit a few years earlier (also with Chelsea). RIP

I've been really disappointed with him. Not necessarily because he's been particularly bad compared to others, but more his failure to realise his full potential, his lack of leadership and obviously also the fact that he appears to be angling for an exit on a cheap fee. He kind of reminds me of the last season of Van Dijk, only with less evident petulance and having done little to really prove he's the Rolls Royce defender we though he might be.

It is bleak, no question. The only comfort to cling onto is that we currently have seven clubs above us with between one and five more points on the board. At present we have to outscore Wolves by two points and both West Ham and Nottingham Forest by three points over more than half a season to stay up. That's certainly not impossible, especially if we grab a win by any means possible tomorrow night (which could potentially make up that shortfall immediately). I'm trying to stay positive.

If you look at things very simply, West Ham in 17th are currently averaging 0.82 points per game. If that continues then they would end up with only ~32 points, meaning we "ONLY" need ~20 more points to stay up (7 wins). Highly unlikely that things continue that way but I guess it underlines that there are some really garbage teams in the Premier League this year and that a very low total may keep you up.

It's almost as if the hierarchy expected us to do well against Brighton and Fulham and didn't therefore anticipate the desperate situation we would find ourselves in had that not been the case. Much like the Titanic, we are probably now trying to rapidly rectify the situation, but it's probably too late.
