  1. Also IF you take out the forst 10 gamess we ARE in Playoff, or even automatic promotion form. Next season lads, next season...... we will go up!
  2. The season has been a little weird so far. Started terrible and had a great October and November, and then lost to Brighton and had a wobble, picked up and looked good for a short amount of time, and now even though having great home results not playing well. Not very good to watch at the moment, but seem to have a spell in all games of 15-20 minutes where we look really good. It seems in this period of play we can get 1,2 or even 3 but then it backs to wall for the reast of the game.
  3. Barnard to get a couple in the second half unless he is taken off that is!! I hope not!!
  4. Set pieces sounds like a striker we already have! I do not know his goals to chances ratio, but I know he scores a few, and holds the ball up well.
  5. Steady!! Proven goalscorer at this level!
  6. Sorry but we are playing stockport? The club that has had to get rid of most of it's players? We will win but 1-0 or 2-1, but we all hope for better. Break through and the floodgates open??? Hmmm
  7. Well there is always the second half!! ZZzzzzz
  8. They can rot in hell and start all over again from the bottom..... I will not be sorry if they go out of business, and if they are saved by someone then fair enough. I hate them, but love the banter between the two of us, but more worries about Saints and getting back to the Prem!!
  9. I agree with the two wide players, and getting the ball in the box from these areas. With strikers like ours and in this league we could get plenty of goals this way instead of trying to play our way through, and then get frustrated and hump the ball forward. You do need to mix it up a bit, and if getting the ball out wide, and playing a way through does not work, then you sometimes have to mix it up with some ugly football in this league! Millwall for example kicked us off the park!
  10. He will be very much cup-tied!! But at least he will not be playing against us.
  11. Stopped reading at e
  12. I think there will be 2 signings before the close of the window on Monday. Puncheon, and a holding midfielder. If not the holding midfielder will be on loan sometime next week.
  13. I am all for giving players a fair go, and he could turn out to be one of the good one, or could be utter rubbish, but you will not know unless you give him a punt. Cheap, and could get him on a short contract, and if proves to be good get him on a longer contract quickly!!!
  14. We will beat them home and away next season (If Millwall do not make the playoff's and go up)
  15. It will just take a couple more signings an attacking midfielder and a defensive midfielder, and the team will be balanced. At the moment the signings have been up top and at the back!!
  16. Agreed, Lambert needs a rest as we have been playing on some really heavy looking pitches in the last few away games. Barnard needs to play and needs to get off of the mark quickly, and I think the goals will flow. What is up with Connolly, is it old problems as he looks like he would score for fun if he could stay fit, and when he arrived and when he is involved we have won most of our games.
  17. Perhaps he was at Griffin Park last night!!
  18. I can quite happily do this as I live about 150 miles away.... but I will read my sister's copy when I am in Soton!
  19. I have a feeling that the MK Dons could be the problem here. I hope not, but another million in league 1, that is big big money we are spending out!
  20. I agree that the results for this season are not good enough overall, but if you do take out the first 10 games, then we really have not done that bad have we? Ok our form is a bit hit and miss and this is not even game to game but one half to the next. I still think I would take the JPT final and then wait to see how we go next season with a full pre-season and a team that should stay pretty settled for the whole season.
  21. I think you will find that this is the first thread I have ever started, because I feel that most of the fans on here suffer with a knee jerk reaction after an away draw!! Just asking that supporters look at the bigger picture.
  22. I will not be letting anyone I do not know use my customer number for a derby match!!! ha ha ha
  23. I cannot believe the amount of doom and gloom on this site. Back in June and early July I did not expect to have a league team to support for the start of the coming season. Then when we did kick off with a team that had been thrown together at the last minute, I thought we would find it hard to make mid table, and after the first 10 games, I did think that things would have to get even worse before they got any better (Another relegation) Then we startedd picking up with a very good run where the team clicked and everyone was fit and not suspended. We got off the bottom, and then out of the relegation zone, and then marched up the table to mid way. Even in this great period of the season we still managed to have a very bad spell which started with a defeat at home to Brighton. Again we are having another dodgy patch now with only 2 points from 12 away, but even if our home form has not been blowing teams away we have a great home record of late. I put this down to having a squad of players that are thin on the ground when it comes to fitness. This with cup runs in the paint trophy and the FA Cup seem to have had an impact on the players and perhaps their minds being elsewhere and taking their eye off of the main aim (Promotion) Now we have strengthend the team again with signings in this transfer window we now have one of the best centre back pairings, and the best forward line in the country.(We do miss Connolly) we still need a very good midfield player who can make things happen. So now these players have to bed in again, and with Hammond and Schneiderlin both being out at the moment any team would iss these two players. I have a feeling that by the time they all click it will be to late to make a late charge towards the playoffs. Right now I would settle for Paint Trophy Final, and maybe even beating the skates, but still have a feeling if we keep the team together for the start of next season there should be no excuses if we do not go up. I think we will as we have one of the best teams in the league by far. (Norwich, Leeds, and Charlton taken out) I just hope that the players do not read some of the rubbish on here after a draw away from home with two of our best midfielders being out. You only have to remove Gerrard and Torres from Liverpool to see this has the same affect.... and most clubs have the same problem. A team without a fit Hammond, and Connolly, a need of a rest Lambert, a new striker and now the suspended Schneiderlin are going to struggle!! I have not enjoyed supporting Saints this much for years, and yes we all want to get back to the Prem league, but give it a bit of time and remember the position we were in at the end of June and then again at the end of September. (4 months ago)
  24. As I said in my post above, get the midfield sorted out so we have cover and we will be fine. We have one of the best defensive pairings at the centre of the defence, and the best two strikers at this level. Just need to bed in again. I just think that the two midfielders we had out last night Schneiderlin and Hammond any team would struggle in that area. Keep the team together at the end of the season and no reason why we should not go up next season. Give it time, I did not expect us to even have a club this season let alone go up!!
