Yes, sorry - Cork for Morgan. Would be happy with the team/squad you've proposed. Neither Chaplow or Puncheon have impressed me recently, but the time has arrived for them to come good.

Odd that most seem to be omitting Guly from the squad all together. Doubt that will happen. Other than Deano for Morgan I'd expect the same starting 11 (poss with Chaplow in for Guly on right, and Guly dropping to bench). Guly wasn't great v the Skates, but not as bad as some make out, and certainly no worse than De Ridder who did little other than waste a very good opportunity. That said he hardly got much service as we tended to play up through the middle after bringing him on for some odd reason. Looking forward to a win tomorrow. COYS!

No idea what you are talking about. Most in the pub tonight agreed it was one of the best, most intense atmospheres ever seen at SMS. Perhaps you were in the Chapel Stand?

I'll only sing that song if we're four up with about 3 mins to go... And yes, I am up this early because I cannot stop thinking about the match! COYS! -
Could be a good thing. We definitely won't be complacent now! They were always goin to win these games, we have to too. They both have harder matches on Mon/Tues. "Control the controllable".

I really do think there must be something in the water in P*mpey. They always come out with this deluded drivel. It's so comical (especially that they think it actually intimidates!). Most P*mpey fans are happy, clappy, scarf wearers. I do however really hope try to put point 2 into operation. Good luck with that lads ;-)

Sharp. If not Fox, Richardson or Morgan. Funny so few have mentioned Lallana. Not sure I'd trust him to take one under pressure either strangely.

Billy's a Saint, simple as. We support every player who pulls on the red and white. Together as one.

Condolences to you and your family. Lovely touch by you, and the club in helping you fulfil your Dad's wish. RIP.

I have. Others will too. Stop being such a disrespectful little pr1ck.

Well said JBS, and saved me responding to CB. People seem to be making all sorts of daft analogies with other events. For me this would just be a respectful doth of the cap to a major event (perhaps THE major event?) to befall our city. And nobody supporting this CB is 'frothing at the mouth' as far as I can see - just putting forward reasonable, rather measured argument. If anything you are the only one getting a tad over excited, but that might have just been the late night...
-
Well "the facts" state that 4/5 crew members were from Southampton. You dispute that fact, and I am in no position to defend it or otherwise (not being an expert on the topic), but your challenge is just irrelevant. Also not sure who is moaning? We're just having a debate on whether the club should, or should not, acknowledge the centenary of the sinking of the Titanic, and the associated loss of life, as the Ships home port.
-
That is what I was thinking.
-
In which case, I am not even sure why you are making the point? Whether it's 2/5, 3/5 or 4/5 - and whether people were born & bred or mere residents (actual or on paper) - the event had a massive impact on the city, and that is really what we re talking about.
-
Not really sure anyone has said it's the only option, it is the most obvious one to suggest though I guess.
-
Think I, and others, have countered your points elsewhere, but again, I don't think subtly and sensitively marking the 100th anniversary of this tragic event that directly impacted hundreds of So'ton families falls into the "mourning sickness' type stuff that has you foaming at the mouth (again!).
-
I would agree too, and there are other events going on in the city to mark the occasion. It just seems a little perverse to me that we'd pass up the chance to commemorate this event when 30k 'Sotonians' are in one place - even if it's jut applauding a few Titanic victims descendants laying a wreath at pitchside before the game.
-
Not getting defensive at all - merely pointing out it is a waste of (my) effort re-hashing Dan Kerins arguments.
-
Welll said.
-
Biggest gathering of Sotonians in the city in one place between 10th and 14th April. Probably best you (re)read the blog (again), rather than me regurgitating it for you.
-
In what sense do you think marking an historic event for 60 seconds detracts from supporting the team?!? Wibble...
-
Presume 'over-board' wasn't a bad taste pun? And is marking a historic tragic event once in hundred years really going over the top?!?

Interesting blog fom The Echo website a couple of months ago. Apologies if this has been highlighted before but couldn't see anything and thought it worth raising again. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/view_from_the_chapel/9528467.Saints_and_Titanic___the_fabric_of_Southampton/ I tend to agree with the writer - given that the Titanic disaster was one of the biggest and most tragic events to hit the city, it would be fitting to marks the 100th anniversary while 30,000 or so with connections to Southampton are in one place. Four out of every five crew members came from the city. 547 Sotonians died on 14 April 1912. There will surely be numerous people at SMS that night who have direct family ties with the disaster. Just a look at the interactive map of the city (below) showing who died/survived brings home just how huge the impact must have been. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/heritage/titanic/crew/map/ Does anyone know if the club is going to mark the anniversary? I definitely think it would be fitting. Even if it was just the laying of a wreath prior to kick off. Perhaps we could lobby the club in some way? It is an important part of our city's heritage.

Agree, need to draw a line under this one. In some perverse way it may have done us a favour - illustrating we have no devine right to win games, and we need to treat very game like a cup final if we're going to go up. I thought there was a good argument to play Deano yesterday. If nothing else he always puts in hard graft and we could have done with his industry in midfield. I'd play him at Posh for the same reason. Chappers just not back in his groove yet. Anyway, onto the Skates and 3 points...
