"In that same period we’ve made a profit from transfers yet still don’t have a pot to piss in and our fans stand back and applaud the model whilst getting all upset if anyone refers to Goa as the chinaman" the implication being that if he was a good owner then calling him "the chinaman" would be unacceptable. Clearly using "chinaman" as an insult, as if it is justified because he doesn't pay enough money into the club. Don't target peoples race when criticising them, stick to the fact he is running the club poorly, you will get a lot more support than just randomly using outdated racial slurs. Also the term itself is classed as "outdated, offensive" by the OED https://www.lexico.com/definition/chinaman

Returning to the actual point of the thread. Would people start Walcott if fit? I personally think we need hard working 10's this game who can track back and fill in as Leicester are lethal on the break and can overload you in wide areas. This is especially important without Romeu in the middle. I think I'd start Djenepo and Armstrong behind Adams and Ings to give as the best balance of attack and workrate. Would maybe bring on Redmond/Walcott/Tella as options from the bench.
-
I was with you all the way to the final line where you decided to make it racist. Shame as it was almost a good post. Maybe next time.
-
Yeah I'm with you on this. Cups you will remember for the rest of your life. With the way the championship is right now teams will bounce up and down a lot over the next ten years, I imagine the same teams will mostly make up the premier league now with one or two outliers who get quickly relegated. I don't want us to become a bounce club but a trophy is worth more for me than treading water in mid table prem rather than being like newcastle and going down every so often and coming back up pretty promptly.
-
Imagine being so upset with a twelve game dip in form you start to envy a team midtable league one. Absolutely embarrassing, seriously.
-
Absolute nonsense. If we went down to the championship and sold JWP, Ings, Vestergaard, ect. we'd still have more than enough to come back up, look how Norwich are doing this season after being dreadful in the premier league. The gap between the prem and championship right now is huge and teams will yo-yo back and forth. Pompey on the otherhand have a league one quality squad. How long would it take them to have a squad anywhere near the quality of ours when basically every player in our matchday squad would sell for the value of their entire starting 11?
-
Any chance of getting the lottery numbers, since you can predict the future? Speaking of revenue, how does us having a stadium almost twice the size of theirs factor in? Or our significantly better facilities? Can you be honest? Are you actually a troll? I can maybe accept the Ralph stuff, but pompey having a better long term situation than us? A team which is mid table league 1, going nowhere, just sacked their manager, and doesn't have a pot to piss in vs a side in the premier league? Their entire first team squad is probably worth less than we could flog a couple of youth team players for. Surely this has to be some sort of joke. Also if we drop down we have parachute payments and a large stadium, we would be fine. See teams like Norwich, Bournemouth and Watford who went down last season, two of them are currently in the top 2 spots in the championship. What makes you think Pompey won't be in league one for long? They look dreadful and are outside the playoff spots, no where near automatics. Could be years for them to be back up.
-
Gao you absolute nutter. We have had a poor net spend but it's still in the region of 10s of million. Their entire squad is probably worth about 1-2 million. The "steady" amount their boss puts in is in the hundreds of thousands. We are underfunded compared to teams like West ham and Newcastle, our funding is tens of times more than a league one side enjoys. Absolutely mental, our club is probably worth ten times that of Portsmouth.
-
What an earth are you smoking? We are in an infinitely better situation than pompey. We have a bigger stadium, better facilities, and are playing in the premier league. By what metric are they in a better situation?
-
Bertrand is a very good defender, statistically one of the best 1v1 defenders in the league (incidentally so is KWP). He would probably be fine for our needs if we had decent, fit, competent attacking players who could regularly make chances. Unfortunately our attack has looked very weak so we rely on him to have an attacking output and progress the ball. Also unfortunately his ability to do that recently has fallen off a cliff and he looks like a liability going forward.
-
1) KWP 2) JWP 3) Armstrong 4) Vestergaard 5) Bednarek

It does when they sarcastically deride people for celebrating doing well for an entire year as it doesnt give you a trophy. Or when they pretend that games before the beginning of January don't matter. Criticisms are fine but some of the things being said are rediculous. Also the talk of hipsters and cults is definitely trolling, you don't have constructive arguments throwing names around.
-
Makes sense I guess, Diallo is a great 1v1 defender and Bertrand has good distribution. City do the same sometimes when holding a lead.
-
Yeah thats the point of the thread. It's a bunch of trolls trying to stir up trouble, saying anything short of a trophy isn't worth shit and any result outside of the last 12 (not including Bournemouth as that totally doesn't count!!!) isn't worth considering towards Ralph's quality. Hopefully one or two more wins will send these bellends back into the shadows.
-
We get it, you don't care if the team win. What we don't get is why you bother to call yourself a supporter if this is the case.
-
Will never understand why someone being emotional and an, admittedly not very funny, Donald Trump joke trigger you so much. Neither seems worthy of note to me, certainly not enough to bring up months down the line.
-
So finishing 6th, which happened in 2016, and beating liverpool in 2017 are the only things you can think of? Anything else in the last decade? Also neither Arsenal or Wolves were "reserve teams". Wolves rotated like 3 players and arsenal maybe 4 or 5.
-
You don't get a trophy for beating liverpool over two legs. You don't get a trophy for being in europe either. Why bother? We beat liverpool 2 months ago, I don't see you celebrating that. If supporting saints makes you miserable then why do you bother? Sometimes they make me miserable too, but sometimes they make me very happy. Judging by your standards they must basically never make you happy, maybe like once in a decade, what's in it for you? Honestly?
-
We are talking about it here because you absolute bedwetters have been crying for a very good managers head for a couple of months of dropped form, mostly due to injury, and now we have won you want to continue your pity party. A party that will continue indefinitely unless we win a trophy as nothing else matters, which we won't do for 10 years, most likely, so it's just free reign for you to be insufferable.
-
If everything other than winning a trophy is "mediocrity" to you then you probably spent the last 44 years of your time supporting saints miserable and will likely spend 99% of all future seasons miserable too. There is a difference between "accepting mediocrity" and noting we are anywhere between the 12th-20th biggest team in england and hence will be very unlikely to win more than one or two cups in a given lifetime. Lower your standards or you will always be crying and realistic fans who understand the teams size and limitations will always have to put up with your boring complaining.
-
I'll say the same thing to you I said to that Duckhunter guy. We are not a team that will win many trophies. We won our last trophy 45 years ago. If winning trophies is your measure of success then you are supporting the wrong team. Chances are we will probably win one or two more trophies in the next 30 years, thats how it is, that's how big a side we are. Unless we get bought by some mega oil baron then you should come to terms with that. Or go find a bigger team to support.
-
Don't even know how to respond to this. Yes. Yes it is. For a team of our size making the final four of the FA cup is, in fact, an acheivement. The fact that wolves and arsenal rested a couple of players doesn't detract from that.
-
Is being one of the final four teams in the FA cup a big deal? What about making it to the semis without conceding a single goal? How about that? Maybe stop whining for a moment and celebrate when the lads are doing well.
-
Oh no! The first 20 minutes of our 3-0 victory weren't a free scoring bonanza! how will we ever recover?
-
I have pompey supporting mates who are more positive about us than some of you lot. Sarcastically deriding the achievement of making the semis of the FA cup because you don't get a trophy for it, the entitlement of some of our fans is just embarrassing.
