What has he given us? Pretty but inneffective passing in first 2/3rds of the pitch No serious goal threat up front (DMcG his regular pick!) Shocking defence and inability to defend against corners and freekicks Inability to score from penalties Players who are easily bossed and bullied by the opposition This will never get us promoted from the Championship but could lead to Division 1. There's a manager at Leicester who is doing a good job there and would have done the same for us - but Lowe got rid of him.

Are all the good CBs African? Why not scout the Nordic countries. I seem to remember that in the good old days we had two CBs who cost very little but were a great CB pairing. Now what were their names ....... oh, I remember, Lundekvam and Svensson!

Top post, it really is that easy to find a game plan to beat Saints. Comments on yesterday's lamentable result ve Coventry: (1) Surman's talent is wasted if played anywhere else but midfield. (2) Right back is our obvious weakest link and when James is beaten the crosses exposed the vulnerability of our centre backs. (3) McGoldrick is a total waste of space. (4) One loan striker up front doesn't work; we only improved against Coventry when Peckart came on to join Robertson. (5) I'm getting worried that after 10 games Poortvliet doesn't appear to see what is blindingly obvious to everyone else.

Saints again conceding soft goals from corners. McGoldrick again hopeless when trying playing as lone striker. BWP again wandering about as a poor imitation of a striker. Bart again short of confidence but selected ahead of Tommy Forecast. Stern John again on the bench but scored a brilliant goal minutes after getting on the pitch. So much for our astute continental coach! But at least he didn't try to spin it with poor excuses like Burley.

Can anyone explain to me why John - after scoring all last season - has been sitting on the bench while McG has been first choice striker?

doing their best but not good enough and going downhill fast

Why all this talk about relegation? There is really nothing for us to worry about because the OS described the Saints as ..... "continuing their unbeaten streak". Yes, that's right, two home draws against Ipswich & Barnsley qualify as "an unbeaten streak". Bull***t!

Wasn't at the game but followed it here and on Sky. For me the positive was: Peckart coming off the bench to score the equaliser. Remember against WBA in the penultimate game of last season when Lallana came on as sub to score the goal that gave us a priceless point and left us in with a chance on the final day Sheff Utd. Lallana has progressed enormously since that goal and maybe Peckart will do the same. And compared with losing by the odd goal, getting a draw is good for team confidence.

The evidence of his two attacks on Fagan suggests otherwise.
-
It was not a tackle - it was assault with the intention of deliberately and wilfully causing physical pain, harm and damage to a fellow professional.

What a stupid team selection - 2 young debut centre backs! The first goal from a throw within 40 seconds showed what a terrible decision that was. On the far side of the goal there was one single Saints player! Perry (or Wotton)should have started at CB to provide some experience and leadership to organise the defence against set pieces. Davis was quite outstanding but the fact that he was MOM indicates what a dire defence we have. McGoldrick? Did he ever manage more than a gentle jog? If Jan is playing one up front it has to be a hard worker and a physical presence like Stern John - or Peckhart. The manager still has a lot to learn about this league.

Ted Bates (as a player) or Peter Rodrigues (the only saints player to lift the cup).
-
And Oliver Bernard.

Kerry Dixon and David Speedie by a mile, followed by Perry Groves, Stuart Ripley, Mark Hughes, Idiakez and Skacel.

Happy memories from that video clip. John Sydenham was a great left winger and I can recall him running down the cinder track at the Dell when the pitch got too heavy. And Ron Davies was a truly magnificent centre forward and the best scorer of headed goals I have ever seen. Best wishes to Ron and his family.

I would have jumped at the chance to have him back last season when we were fighting for our lives in a relegation scrap - even though at left back Higgie invariably played the opposition on side. But things have moved on and the emphasis this season is on ball-playing younger players with a few old hands to back them up (Killer, Perry, Wootten, Euell etc).

10 - 12 points would be very acceptable.

Watching those clips of the Keegan, Ball, Channon, Armstrong, Moran days almost brought a tear to my eyes.

Surely we have had more than enough autopsies! The reality is that we are where we are - admittedly in dire straits - and the best course is to look forward and try to find positives to focus on.

Not a bad side??? Wright excepted, if they had been any good we would not having have been scrapping for survival on the last game of the season.

Who would be your next offload to reduce the wage bill if required?

BWP for me - showed promise but never delivered.
