Can we use season ticket renewals to oust Lowe?
ulstersaint replied to SaintBobby's topic in The Saints
Brilliant idea! As many season tickets holders do not visit this site but probably read the Echo, get this suggestion into the Echo asap. -
everyone has accepted we are in league one next season

Amen to that. -
No. 7 ...... HCDAJFU

As for the formation, I think it worked quite well. There's not much width there, Agreed. What we need is a pacy winger who can play left and right, attack the FB and go to the touchline and gets crosses in. Someone like Nathan Dyer .....
-
It seems we have conceded a lot of goals from left wing crosses and an analysis of all the goals scored against us this season may suggest that opposing managers have targeted Saints's right side as the weakest link. Having said that, James has improved and his cross for Saga goal v Norwich was great; but he does not appear to be a natural RB.

Could be that Wilde realised that a change had to be made and Lowe refused to dispense with his dutch choice, so Wilde used Crouch to force through his decision. But if so, why didn't Wilde force both dutch guys to leave and bring in a Pearson type (Holloway, Dowie, Boothyord) hile there is still time to avoid relegation?
-
Rubbish like this will only give credibility to Lowe's reference to 'a lunatic fringe'.
-
Agreed - this is the only way for a boycott to get publicity and have real impact.

Thanks for an excellent letter. I have followed The Saints since the early 1950s - though usually from a distance. This letter sums up how we are all feeling today and it must be circulated to all the board members and feature in the Echo. Unless Lowe abandons this daft dutch strategy he will achieve two relegations but of course, Lowe finds it difficult (perhaps impossible) to admit that he has made a gross error. So our only hope is that Wilde has more humility and good sense.

Jimmy Case from Liverpool via Brighton for £30k was Lawrie's last signing and one of his best. 269 games a few goals. How we could do with someone like him in our current midfield.
-
Not often that Jeff Stelling slips us. Always impressed by him on Sky - very eloquent and articulate and never lost for words - a class act. But I was listening to him tonight when he was in a phone conversation with a studio and he was dreadful -a constant stream of "you knows" and "I mean" and lots of stumbling. Don't know how he is so different on Saturdays unless it is due to prompts via PC and earpiece.

I'm surprised it took a dozen posts for someone to remind us a past defender - One Size Fitz Hall. The new guy's name will provide pun fodder for the sub-editors on the OS and Echo, but more importantly, it sounds like he made a good start at Barnsley. A tall, mobile, physically strong and experienced centre-back. Just what was needed - about 3 years ago when Killer got crocked!
-
And any of those three would do better than the current shower

..... or George O'Brien, Martin Chivers, Phil Boyer,Ted McDougall, Paul Rideout, Kevin Keegan, Steve Moran, Colin Clarke, Iain Dowie, Danny Wallace, Rodney Wallace, James Beattie, Marian Pahars ..... but hey, even Neil Shipperly, Paul Moody David Puckett & Trevor Hebberd on a bad day were much better than what we have seen up front this season (Robertson, Peckart, Paterson & McGoalless).

A great article in 'The Times' today by Oliver Kay - "United underline class gap" - on yesterday's game. "It was not a question of age. It was one of maturity and, above all, composure." Kay makes the point that United's three goalscorers were 18, 21 and 22 years old. And that the midfield was run for much of the second half by Gibson, Anderson (20) and Possebon (19). For different reasons both Saints and ManU fielded young players - but there was a gulf in class between theirs and ours.
-
Never thought I would say this, but I would welcome Nigel Quashie and Higgie back.
-
Perhaps he meant that Paterson's two feet were off the ground - which they were, hence a straight red under current rules. Sir Alex was right; if Paterson had received a yellow for an early challence (on Evans, I think) it might have calmed him down and avoided the later recl#kess two foot studs up red on Vilic.
-
Smith's comments on the OS are absolute tosh! ManUre are under no pressure at all and will stroll this game. BTW can anyone tell me why Dyer was given a contract and then loaned out to 2 clubs this season when clearly he is better than Smith (ie he scored a good goal for SheffU recently and at least can get to the byeline and cross a ball)?
-
Absolutely spot on! Top post.
-
That was Lowe's strategy last time we got relegated and it seems he has not learned from his mistake. But of course, as Lowe is perfect, he would not recognise any of his decisions as mistakes.
-
Nigel Pearson was taking strong measures and turned things around for the relegation run-in at the end of last season. Even working with Lowe's new strategy (youth players with a few experienced loan signings) Pearson would have done a much better job this season than JP. Pearson's loans at the end of last season kept us up and he would not have wasted our scant resources on wages for rubbish like Gasmi, Pulis, Robinson, Peckart, Smith, Forecast etc. His record with Saints last season and with Leicester this term makes him far superior to JP - but of course he was not Lowe's man so had to go!

New Year Messages for Michael Wilde here please
ulstersaint replied to Big Ron fan's topic in The Saints
Amen to this. -
You really should listen to your wife - she was right, you should not have come back.
-
Strange it is until 30 Jan when we have a fixture on 31 Jan. Perhaps it is to allow Reading to sell him on 31 Jan if they get a good offer. Killer? Sadly he will never be fit again.

Lowe, Cowan & Wilde to go and never return - and take the train picture with them. A British manager who knows this league and how to get out of it (Dowie, Adams, Davies etc) Another 30 points.
