  1. Good business. Baird would be a great asset to our shaky defence.
  2. Surman being saved for a transfer? 3 lightweight wingers in midfield, plus the tiny Gillett ! ! ! ! !
  3. Last time we were relegated it was the November results that sent us down. This season it will be December results that do the same.
  4. The team getting thrashed 0-4 at home by Donny, hammered us 2-0 on our own ground. Enough said.
  5. Fallon scored with a free header from a cross. Clearly, lessons have not been learned.
  6. Lowe would not resign. Rather he would see relegation as further proof that the club really needs him and that he alone is the man to restore the club to its' former glory. The man is beyond arrogance - he is a megalomaniac. (A mental disorder producing delusions of grandeur and a passion for grandiose schemes).
  7. We are wasting serious money on wages for Peckhart, Gasmi, Pulis, Smith, Wotton, Robertson etc yet we still don't have any proper fullbacks - is this Poortvleit's fault? If it is so obvious to us why can't someone in control see it - or don't they want to?
  8. Must be a manager who has already done well in this division or got a team out of it (upwards I mean!): Aidy Boothroyd Gary Johnson Billy Davies (hard to swallow this one but needs must) Iain Dowie Alan Curbishley
  9. They have all had their chances and they have all made bad decisions to the detriment of our once respected club. A plague on all their houses.
  10. If we lose at home to another team in the relegation zone (in front of 26,000 fans) there really is no hope and no future for this manager and his clueless tactics. Either Lowe, Wilde or the bank has to call time on the failed experiment of playing boys / total football / 1 up front even at home / because not only is it not working, it does not appear that it might work. League 1 here we come.
  11. David Armstrong's scored goals from midfield, was credited with many assists, hardly ever missed a game and rarely played put in a bad performance. One of Lawrie's best signings.
  12. "David McGoldrick is convinced that Saints are moving in the right direction and hopes that today's game will spark a run up the table." (From the OS) As Jim Royle would say, "My arse!"
  13. I've supported Saints for 50+ years and this is as bad as it has ever been. It's very hard to "keep the faith and support the boys" when they follow one abysmal performance (v Palace) with even worse one against Burnley. Blind optimism and frequent rallying calls from the OS are counter-productive. We have reached the point when thousands of longsuffering saints fans really need to see something from the players (and manager) that is worth their support.
  14. It took us just 15 mins to go 0-3 down compared with the game v Palace when it took us until the second half to go 0-3 down. So can anyone see that Jan or the team learned anything at all from the previous match? The whole lot of them (manager, coaches, players, Lowe & Wilde) are totally clueless and a waste of space.
  15. Sums him up perfectly.
  16. Top post! All pretty passing but nothing at all in the final third. Not a shot on goal worth mentioning. And the defence was again bullied off the ball by a big striker - and as many said pre-season this division is full of big, burly strikers. Robertson, Pearce, BWP were useless tonight and McG was worse than useless. What a total waste of space he is - not even bothered to chase balls and show effort. Gasmi the sub was truly awful. As for Surman and Lallana being sold for big bucks - the offers from Premier clubs are unlikely to flood in as they were both anonymous tonight. Matt Le Tiss had the right word for it on Sky - "dire".
  17. The loss of Holmes (and Dyer on loan?) a key reason for the lack of width and getting to the byeline to get crosses into the area.
  18. We have managed approximately 1 pt per game so far this season. The same rate of points gathering will see us end the season with around 45 pts. Will 45 pts be enough to avoid the drop? Will we manage to get a point a game for the rest of the season if the team is weakened by the sale of Surman and/or Lallana in January?
  19. Sounds a good idea: Saints win - you lose your bet but are happy. Saints lose - you win your bet and are happy.
  20. One up front again (McG) - a bad tactic for a home game - and it is clearly not working. The problem is that McG (who had much better first touch and ball control v Bristol) likes to drift out wide and when he does that there is is no-one up front at all. If JP is determined to persist with McG he would be better playing him as the second striker alongside/behind a big striker who can play with his back to the goal and hold the ball up.
  21. Amen to that! How was such a big man so easily knocked off the ball and regularly injured I do not know.
  22. In the first half Jeff Stelling (who seems to have a soft spot for Saints) described us as "hapless Saints". And that hurt - so how sweet was it coming back from 0-2 down to win 3-2. I got over to see the draw v Coventry and thought Saints played fairly well, but I didn't see this result coming from the 11 who played on Tuesday. So the changes for today's match must have made a big difference (Pearce, Lancashire, Gobern, BWP etc). I look forward to a report from someone who trekked up the M6 today.
  23. A good defensive performance and much needed after the last two games and 7 goals conceded too easily. Hopefully it will build confidence. Would have taken 0-0 before kick off. Well done and thanks to Kelvin.
  24. Le Tiss missed 1 pen' in 10 years and this shower of a team missed 2 in 10 minutes! Almost a sacrilege to mention these numpties (McGoldrick, Wootton, Euell etc) in the same posts as Le Tiss and David Peach. Anyone see Higgies put away a pen' for Stoke Giants today? I was never his greatest fan - always played too many forwards on side - but how we could have done with him in recent seasons.
  25. Watched ITV this morning for the highlights(!) Deja vu all over again. The first Watford goal from their right wing corner was just like watching a repeat of the QPR throw-in that led to their first goal in 39 seconds from a thrown-in from the right. Both time ALL the Saints players (except Davis) were in a tight near-post cluster and Watford / QPR had loads of space and time to score with ease. No zonal marking and no man-to-man marking! So what has JP and his young team learned? Nil - Nothing - Zero - Zilch - Sod All !
