Sentences (rows of words after a full stop) should begin with the first letter of the first word in upper case or capital letters. Also, the word I and names such as Alan Pardew, Charlton, West Ham, Keegan, Strachan and Southampton FC" should have their first letters in upper case. On your keyboard you will find a key marked "shift". Try it.

I think the ref' tried to let the game flow in dreadful weather conditions and he could have been more harsh with some sliding tackles. He got the penalty right. Stupid challenge. Agreed the lino on Kingsland side made some wierd decisions and several times when the ball went into touch he waited for the ref' the signal before he pointed his flag for Saints or Delia's.

Makin was half decent compared with the rest of the rubbish listed. Glad someone mentioned Euell - a lot of money for scant return. Who was the Swedish winger bought in the Lowe-era? He was dross, too.

An indicator or Saints' progress under Pardew is that even when losing we have a belief that we can come back and get something from from the game. Contrast that with several seasons when Saints went behind with fans thinking it's all over.
-
Got to put a word in for George Kirby - an old fashioned centre forward and hard as nails. Probably wouldn't last long now goalies are a protected species. 1963 FA Cup first replay at The Dell v Forest 0-3 down after 55 minutes and 3-3 at FT and Kirby the star. Saints won the second replay 5-0 at neutral White Hart Lane. And Kirby scored a hatrick in 4 minutes in a 6-0 win v M'boro in 1962. 31 goals in 73 games - wished he had stayed longer.

In previous seasons many complained there was no Plan B. Now Pardew has a Plan A and a Plan B and if we are winning and making progress most of us don't care whether he is using Plan A, B, C or Z. 4 wins in a row - it's a time for celebration not analysing formations.
-
For the first time for a very long time I was confident we would win when 0-1 down at HT, and confident that we not let it slip when we got to 2-1. Thanks AP, Nicole and Marcus for rebuilding our club.

Fully agree. Saints have won 3 games in a week (when did that last happen!) and someone opens a thread on Lowe. He is gone (thank God) and this is a new and brighter day for Saints. It's time to look forward not backwards and there should be no more threads about Lowe.
-
'Papa going missing in games like this?' Pessimism rules OK. Give the guy a chance.

Good Laugh
-
Don't waste more time on this silly thread - (change the manager after 10 games when the mess we are in is partly to the Dell /SMS being a managerial merry go round for the past 10 years!) - and look at the thread Musings from an Ordinary Bloke.

Great post - the voice of sanity and reason.

A few differences between Lowe and Marcus. Lowe ruined our club and Marcus is rescuing us; Rupert took money out of the club and Marcus has put his own money into the club - and is even buying his own ticket. Marcus can do as he pleases as it is his club. For that I'm truly thankful.

And is that Nicole on the left with a striped suit and striped shirt (and perhaps a striped tie)? Striped shirt with plain suit or plain suit with striped shirt - but only one striped item in an outfit.
-
Didn't happen and was never going to happen 'cos Pinnacle had no money. Time to forget the past - Lowe, Wilde, Pinnacle etc - and look forward.

Morgan can make a decent long pass, so it might be worth trying him taking corners.

OK, we are still looking for a league win but there are some positives: 1. No proper pre-season, so it was going to take a few games to get it together 2. No heavy defeats so far and we're looking more solid at the back 3. Pardew has brought in his own players and they are looking good (esp' Murty, Harding, Trotman, Hammond, Lambert) 4.Jaidi is a good signing and will add experience, height and power to the back four 5. A point at unbeaten Charlton is a good result 6. Home game next week
-
But last season Surman, Saejis, McGoldrick, Skacel and BWP played a good number of games and helped get us relegated.
-
As Andy Gray would say on Sky, "Take a bow, son!"
-
Let's get real, folks! Pardew had few other options up front. Also, the new manager has not yet had enough time to transition the team from being full of inexperienced and immature youngsters (Lowe's stupid cheap policy) and replacing them with mature and experienced pros. Most of the players Pardew has brought in so far (esp' Lambert, Murty, Harding, Hammond, Trotman, Jaidi, Waigo) are a great improvement. The problem with playing youngsters before they are ready for the first team, with one or two exceptions like Bale and Walcott, is that it usually sets their development and progress back several years.
-
So you have 'qualified opinions' and others indulge in 'brainless negativity'? Very convenient.
-
Interesting to see that Pardew's two recent signings (Trotman and Hammond) are heading the MOM poll, in spite of a lack of opportunity for trainingg and playing with the rest of the team. This should show the pessimists and moaners than Pardew is starting to get in right.
-
Bit unfair on James as he was probably the most improved player last season, even playing at right back. Playing right mid in front of Murty might be the making of him, but - though he can put in a decent cross in from deep - I can't see him getting to the byeline to put in crosses. Not pacy enough The problem stems from L***'s stupid experiment last summer - ie playing a team of kids. Many of us said at the time that this would crush the confidence of the youngsters when they got out muscled by the big lads. It happened - they were put in the first team prematurely and we can see the consequences. These youngsters either need to go back to the ressies or out on loan to League 2 clubs to gain experience and rebuild confidence. BTW - we are desperate for width and pace on the wings. Remember Nathan Dyer?

Swindon V Saints, second half fight back chat

Scary thought - and how many of them have really been any good? Apart from Perry who has been useful in the back four, probably only Lucketti who helped save us from relegation (at least for 12 months) and perhaps Dailly.
