If you read the dutch/french news outlets they are saying that this was pretty much free to help them afford the wages e.g. https://www.lesoir.be/378842/article/2021-06-17/anderlecht-signe-un-nouveau-transfert-wesley-hoedt-va-remplacer-miazga-dans-la

The left back we had on trial from Lincoln against Everton is on trial with Chelsea now - https://the72.co.uk/236002/chelsea-to-take-17-year-old-efl-starlet-on-trial-recently-trialled-at-southampton/

This was our trialist in the B team against Everton on the weekend https://www.the42.ie/southampton-considering-a-bid-for-irish-youngster-sean-roughan-5433297-May2021/. Glad we are looking at more options, for next year. It may also be nothing but one of the kit guys for the first team retweeted Toby Savin's MOTM trophy picture from their win against pompey. This might be just to take the p*** but also he has been linked with us a few times this year. https://twitter.com/jmireland8/status/1391451329202212869?s=20

Watching it on Everton’s YouTube and their commentators said our team is easily the worst they’ve seen all season. I understand that a lot of B team regulars will be filling the bench tomorrow but they have been awful. The teams we have been putting out at u18 and B team recently have been embarrassing and must also just kill any confidence they have/had.

I stayed for the forum but couldn’t get in to the Roy table about youth development with Crocker. Did anyone manage to hear anything on the B team, Academy from the round table? -

Poor game and luckily their keeper made 1 more mistake than our keeper. Pretty that the reason the team was so poor is because a couple of internationals - Jankewitz & Obafemi (as he seems to be behind N'lundulu atm) and the rest of the fringe first-team boys training with the first to cover for the internationals/injuries. If you look at the first team training from yesterday most of the pictures are of B team players broken up with Redmond, Romeu, Forster, Adams, KWP, et al

Watched the whole game today and thought we were thoroughly disappointing but at least for once we were able to watch the game live, even though the coverage was all about Derby. No one is asking for this, and feel free to ignore, but here are my ratings/notes on the game: Lewis - 6 - Couldn’t really do much about any of the goals. Looked ok on the ball, if we are not using Forster for the B team, Lewis definitely seems to be our best option between the sticks. Kpohomouh - 5 - Looked like men against boys at the back. Skinned a few times and looks a long way away from the first team. Not a great performance. Tchaptchet - 4 - Red Card - Sent off for nudging over a player running in on goal. It was a soft foul, but, he was the last man and had to go. Agbontohoma - 5 - Another disappointing defensive performance really. Caught out a few times positionally. Ferry - 6 - This was the first time I’ve seen him live playing LB instead of LW. Still a great runner going forward. Got to the byline a few times and had a good free kick tipped over. Still work to do defensively. Jankewitz - 5 - Red Card - Had some really neat touches in midfield and looked very neat alongside Slattery. Made a poor decision when on a yellow card, especially as we were already down to 10. Slattery (C) - 8 - Goal - Looked our standout performer. Early booking but bossed the midfield. Excellent goal direct from a free kick and also looked strong in the tackle. Would love to see him get back amongst the first team this season. Watts - 7 - Looked pretty decent on the ball. Moved to right back following Tchaptchet Red and had an excellent run that ended up being tripped on the edge of the derby box that lead to Ferry having a shot tipped over the bar Olaigbe - 5 - Sloppy on the ball and wasted some good opportunities. Johnson - 6 - Picked up the ball in some promising positions but looked a little less match sharp than the rest of the team l, no surprise coming back from a loan so probably at a different stage to the rest Mitchell - 5 - Produced no real threat in the box and kept dropping wide to pick up the ball, leaving the box completely empty when we were on the attack. Desperately missed N’lundulu or Obafemi. Robise, Defise, Smales-Braithwaite came on but all after we were down to 10 men and struggled to make an impact unsurprisingly but did nothing particularly wrong.

It's the last clip of the highlights package https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2020-10-19/b-team-highlights-southampton-fc-0-1-blackburn-rovers-premier-league-2-2020-21. N'lundulu is shouting "Mikey what are you doing!" as he pushing him off the pitch. The B team so far has looked really strong on paper this season with plenty of league experience for this level, but the results have been appauling and the performances have been no better than last season despite the renewed approach. I'm not an expert in U-23 football, but you would have thought a Saints B team should be able to take Rovers U-23s even though Rovers do seem to have the top goalscorer in the league.

Did any one else see the Obafemi red card for the B team? They were waiting for a corner to come in, one of the Rovers defenders says something to him, and Obafemi just proper slaps him. This was really petulant from Obafemi, and Ralph was watching. I think he's very lucky we don't have many options up top, otherwise I could see Ralph permanently dropping him to the B team.

That's an on the spot turn around for a live Q & A, not an article, I don't blame him for making a couple of mistakes.

Hopefully this isn't the Belgian club that were meant to be buying Hoedt. Club Brugge not interested. https://www.voetbal24.be/news/62805/club-brugge-hakt-knoop-door-over-transfer-van-wesley-hoedt

Sorry I was just testing that this was working. Good to final post on here, as Danso's back to Augsburg and Bedders may potentially still be out are we expecting any young cb's to be on the bench? Klarer and Ramsay I assume can't play because of their loan registrations I guess - I haven't seen anyone new in training
