Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For 2nd Best RM.
St Landrew replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
As Derry clearly understands, and you are misunderstanding. We KNOW MLT is good enough to get into the A team, but he would have been in the B team or nowhere if it had gone to a vote. As it happens, he would have made the last 6, and probably would have been in the B Team at RM. Would you have wanted that..? Thought not. Don't worry, I'm not such an idiot that he won't appear somewhere in the line-up. For my money RCM, alongside Jimmy Case or Steve Williams at LCM. Happier now..? -
Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For 2nd Best RM.

I think you'll find he did. Besides, it doesn't matter too much. Bally was a known high quality RM, and for that reason alone, he can be picked to appear there. -
Tbh Stu, I think that's a rather silly statement to make. In forthcoming seasons you could be saying: Keep SMS to the 9,500 loyals thanks. then: Keep SMS to the 3,500 loyals thanks. then: Keep Silverlake to the 1,500 loyals thanks. How much lower should we go..? Saints are NOT a closed shop or cliche club. The more supporters, the better it gets. I remember, not so long ago, not being able to get a ticket because it was sell-out after sell-out. I'd honestly prefer it that way again.

Try Richer Sounds or other semi-serious online hi-fi shops to get an idea. For example for £800: http://www.richersounds.com/showbigproductpicture.php?cda=showbigproductpicture&pid=CAMB-AZUR-840E-BLK&fname=small_304818.jpg and for £1200: http://www.richersounds.com/showbigproductpicture.php?cda=showbigproductpicture&pid=CAMB-AZUR-840W-BLK&fname=small_304820.jpg Now I'm not suggesting you pay the huge amount of money that these command, but second hand kit is entirely affordable and a good bargain, because high quality hi-fi, solid state of otherwise, lasts for eons. You should have been here a few months back, when I was considering selling my turntable, amps and speakers.

Yeah, OK. What are you prepared to spend..?

LOL of the day..!

Thanks for the link. Not sure I'll watch it all, and certainly not all the versions anyway. This story skimming, you point out, is a modern phenomena, and is due, I'm pretty sure, to the tiny attention spans of younger people, compared to older viewers. I think it's a major problem in younger people that this is so. I, myself find that my attention span is shorter nowadays than it used to be, and that is because, like most people, I can't help myself being exposed to modern media, if I choose to dip into the everyday entertainment world. It's another phenomena that, although there is more choice of entertainment, the differences are getting less and less.

Or indeed, just go to Yau Brothers in Northam and buy here a genuine trade wok for about a tenner. At least it'll be the real thing, and not some 3rd party knock-up.
-
Oh, I thought you were going to demonstrate your usual perception and identify what I mean by that goal.

Good classic Pre and Power amp setups were Naim pre/power amps. I know as I have a set myself. Alternatives are from Quad, as in the classic 33/303 and 44/405, although they have become collectable, and so prices have gone a bit skyward. As with nearly all pre/power amp combos, you can swap them around. IMO, they don't sound as good as Naim amp combos though. EDIT: Here's an example. Classic stuff:http://www.hi-fi-insight.com/quad-33-pre-amplifier.html

Find them. Please..!
-
Very perceptive. But I'm thinking from that goal until today.
-
And this is that little miracle that's going to change the world. Well at least, according to all the Apple adverts it is. Buy here a 3rd party MP3 player and be done with it.

What all 392 pages..???

Bloody hell, Michael Owen is 29 today. What happened..?

OK. Perhaps we should get on and read this ditty. Or perhaps just bookmark the link.

Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For 2nd Best RM.
St Landrew replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
Of course you do realise that our RB Alf Ramsey disagreed with me, but this time with the England team. He had Terry Paine in at RM, and changed his mind and put Bally in there instead. That sort of ended Painer's England career. Oh btw, nominations end tonight. -

As it happens, I'm going to nominate one of my favourite players of all time - Alan Ball, who started out as a right winger, and stayed right sided, although he roamed all over the park, at times. He's good enough to be in the A Team, but I don't think he'll get in there. If we'd never had Terry Paine, I'd have wanted Bally as my best ever RM. -

Thank you peeps, that's the idea. More nominations to vote for, please. -
Sad, but true. Which is why, and I have to say this through gritted teeth, the present option is the only one that we can support or not. Either there is a mass non-support, or the moaning should stop, and we should get on with the business of supporting the club. Now I'm quite happy to do a mass non-support [backed with an appropriate statement] if it means that Lowe is pushed out of the club. But I'm not willing to do it in mid-season. If, near the season's end, it looks as if the club will be mathematically safe, or are doomed to relegation, then would be the time to do a non-support, by staying away from St Marys en masse. Then they can't ignore us.

Yes, Terry Paine walked it by a country mile. So to fend off any embarrassing or painful faux pas, I now want your nominations for the RM who'll fill the spot in the B team. In effect, the second best RM Saints ever had. But be careful who you nominate, because if that player goes on to be voted for, and wins, he cannot be in the A team at any position, nor the subs bench. You have been warned, and there are really plenty to choose from, so we don't need to do silly things here. Now please nominate for the 2nd best RM.

Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For Best RM.
St Landrew replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
OK, I've made my decision on this one. Sorry if this bit is a little less democratic than it has been so far, but the results are not even worth voting about. Of 8 named candidates, Terry Paine has out nominated them by at least 10 to 1, and in most cases 20 to 1. Therefore, without any further action, I'm declaring Terry Paine as the best ever RM for Saints. I think that's a fair decision.. OK..? Right..! Having said that, I want nominations for the second best quality RM ever to have donned the Saints shirt. Of course, you will not be able to nominate Terry Paine..! -

But he did play LM on many occasions, and was given leave to roam all over the park, but mainly dovetailing with Rod Wallace at RM. I don't have a problem with Matty being at LM, but many people will want others in that position. Where, for example, does Dave Armstrong go..? Look at DA's stats and consider that he played for Saints during one of the most successful times, and he was ever present. How can he not be at LM..? Well that's why we have a B Team, and a subs bench. I'm sure all the best players will eventually emerge, but there will be disappointments. Anyway, this nominations thread is coming to a close soon. I'm just going to check the names, and then decide what to do. -
I hear bus passenger traffic is up by an average of 7% in Southampton, and on some routes by 20%. Source is the Daily Echo from our Southampton City Forum. Go look, as I can't be bothered. It's boom time for bus companies, don't you know.
