  1. About 3.30am, earlier this week, I got up to go to the toilet, and when I came back to bed, I took a look out of the window, before climbing in. I looked up into the clear sky, and immediately a meteor burned itself out directly in front of my gaze. Now that's timing..!
  2. Wahay, I read 20th Century Fox are going to make a sequel, based on the book Post Captain.
  3. In Shirley this evening, I saw a shopping bag with a pristine box wrapper for a toy inside it. I nudged the bag as I walked past. I judged the box and bag moved far too easily, so I carried on uninterested. Later on I realised it was probably a shop lifting item that had been carried out of a shop, and the contents removed before the shoplifter legged it. Naughty person.
  4. with one of their own playing staff, on whether he fancies adding to his ownership portfolio..? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7778554.stm
  5. Ever get the feeling Essruu is either a modern day Ebenezer Scrooge, as lonely as f**k, or just missed out on being a nice guy when they were handing out personalities...?
  6. I wonder if Gordon will peg the Pound to the Euro if and when parity is achieved, and effectively we'll have the EuroPound..? That would be getting the Euro into the UK by the back door..!
  7. Aldi are doing a couple of laptops at excellent prices. If you're worried about their quality, they hold 3 year guarantees, and are certainly NOT refurbished items that may have already gone wrong once or twice.
  8. Come on people... One last day to post a vote, even if you think it worthless. You never know, your vote may get your player into a team, or onto the sub's bench.
  9. For my money, although Surman hasn't consistently lit any fires this season, he is ready for a step up. At 22 he's got time on his side to improve, and he certainly will amongst better players. Either that, or a return to the Championship, after a season or two not making the grade. I think every Premiershiop club's attention has just focussed on Chris Eagles, after his recent displays. Andrew Surman may have found himself overlooked, unless he's sold already, as I suspect.
  10. Just as long as they it doesn't happen within the next 5 years. Got to give me that time to get my boat and ride out the tidal wave. Tbh, the chances are the Earth will live on in its own way for many hundreds of thousands/millions of years. Top predators will come and go, and we'll have been long gone. After all, we wouldn't be worried about the Earth at all if it wasn't about us trying to save our own skins in the process.
  11. Well indeed. But at least it shows a bit of imagination on the part of South American football. Our lot wring their hands because they want players to stop harassing the ref after he makes a decision they don't like, and then don't have the balls to introduce technology that would cut out the arguments anyway. What do they expect from modern footballers, brought up on a diet of diving, cheating and generally getting away with it - the proper etiquette or something..?
  12. I'm really disappointed with McGoldrick this season. He promised so much during his academy and reserve team days. He used to be able to score for fun, and when he started this season, I thought, whoopee, here we go. But it's all dried up. I believe he's lost confidence and belief, and when that happens it needs a major turnaround. I hope for his sake and ours he can recapture his timing and effectiveness in front of goal, and the sooner, the better.
  13. Really, the only thing I miss from the last couple of seasons is Rasiak, when he couldn't stop scoring at away matches. Saganowski, when he was on fire during the run-in a season and a half ago. And Stern John's ability to find the net during last season. At the time these strikers were able to score despite abysmal service from midfielders who sometimes couldn't find their own teammates even if there were no opposition in the way. This season, it's all service and virtually no delivery. It's a great shame we can't afford both, and unfortunately, yesterday's classier strikers don't seem to be able to keep up with today's gung-ho youngsters, in any case.
  14. I'd rather have Gordon running the economy than almost anyone else I can think of. What I don't want is Alistair Darling running the economy. Luckily, I think Gordon is overlooking AD's every move. As for his faux pas. I think rather a lot was made of nothing. After all, didn't Margaret Thatcher, in 1979, say something about.. Where there is discord, may we bring harmony. Where there is error, may we bring truth. Where there is doubt, may we bring faith. And where there is despair, may we bring hope. She may have saved the UK at the time, but by god didn't she sacrifice and divide the have and have-nots. Some hope and harmony. And I'm still not laughing about it either.
  15. Ah yes, but your going to work, and my going to work are two different things. I'm self employed, and don't get the luxury of taking time off, as there are times when I just don't have work. Mind you, I'd rather have my work than anyone else's. Except perhaps an astronaut's I watch those films when I don't have work. Or catch up on my Saints Pro-Evo team. Won everything again this season. But I smashed the bloody controller up in frustration during the last match and just hung on for the win.
  16. Hmm, it practically scrapes in as a Christmas film, because the characters are going home for a celebration in winter, in this case Thanksgiving. As this isn't a celebration we in the UK readily identify with, the film kind of doubles for an Xmas film. The odd drifts of snow do no harm at all either. In fact there's certainly more snow than in the Southampton area in the winter, so it's a nailed on Xmas film for us lot. And there's plenty of good scenes in it too. Steve Martin hasn't really improved on it since, and John Candy didn't get much more of a chance.
  17. Last week I had a few days where every joint in my limbs seemed to be constantly aching, and were painful to the touch. I didn't have a sniffle or a temperature. I thought it was me just succumbing to age. This week I feel fine again. Man-flu..? It's just a hinderance. The best thing is to get out of bed and try to ignore it. You'll feel tonnes better just doing that.
  18. Why not have a rehearsal with Youtube..? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qbgH5JB50E0 Do remember this was made in the 1940s, so there's no swearing, no attitude, nobody kills anyone with a gun, and no sex. Just very good storytelling. Can you handle it..? And it's in b/w. Personally, I don't think you're up to it.
  19. Because he doesn't know how to edit his posts.
  20. Is any of the above mentioned actually food..?
  21. Don't tell me: George reads that Mr Gower's son has died, and a little later, Mr Gower the chemist, slaps young George's bad/deaf ear so hard it begins to bleed. And yet all George has done is question the medicine, and so prevented a death, that Mr Gower has put into the capsules. One little accident in life that George has had an impact on, because he had been born. I remember just a few years ago when visiting an old mate on Christmas Day. We'd had a couple of whiskies, and he said, let's watch It's A Wonderful Life..! By the time Mr Gower whacked little George across the head, the lump in my throat had got to epic proportions. I looked across at my mate and he was utterly gone. Tears were streaming down his cheeks and his face was bright red. He looked back at me and said, god, I love this film. Let's face it, you'd have to be a heartless sh!t not to, eh..?
  22. Steady now, Robsk.. The Thought Police are alive and well.
  23. Yep, pretty much how I feel about it. I thought we'd just about compete, in an unentertaining way, and probably get relegated. At the moment, I feel we'll just about beat the relegation trap, and may even scrape mid-table. And some of Saints football has been highly entertaining and skilled, at times. If Saints survive this season, I think they'll do better next - providing they keep the players they have, and perhaps add a couple of genuine players in key areas.
  24. Where is the Wolves 0-6 Saints match, at The Molyneux..?
  25. Not a terrorist or the son of god either. Just a man who saw what was needed in the situation. So good was/is the idea that it has lasted for 2000 years.
