To be honest, I think this is nitpicking, eurobashing rubbish. How many here speak as good Dutch, as Jan speaks English..? I'm sure Jan is able to make himself understood, even if footballers aren't the quickest individuals upstairs. However, the run of games hasn't been good enough. If possible, it's time to change direction; if it can be afforded. But let's cut out the insults eh..? -
Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For Best CMs.
St Landrew replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
I suppose I ought to add my nominations. After all, I want the players I consider the best to get into the vote list. F**k me, this is difficult. In my mind, I want MLT on the left, and I'd allow him full licence to go wherever he wanted to. So, my 2 CMs have got to be the finest players, at their peak, for SFC. For me, that means Steve Williams and David Armstrong. Nice to see Glenn Co ckererill getting a look in. Honest, excellent midfielder. But not my nomination. I'd happily see him as a substitute though. -
In an ideal world, I would like Lowe, Wilde and all those associated with them, completely and utterly gone from Southampton Football Club. Equally, I would want Guy Askham gone too. No shares, no connection. I'd even hesitate allowing them season tickets. But this could only occur if there was a complete takeover of the delisted club. In that case, I would be quite happy to have Crouch back, but only as a board member and adviser; not the decision maker. He has always meant well, even if things didn't go to plan, at times. He still has that essential Saints fan essence about him, putting the good of the club before his own good fortune. Something I believe Rupert never has had, and Michael Wilde has completely forgotten in the protection of his assets, which frankly, must be worth a fraction of their original cost.

Yes, thank you. I'll take the first two, unless you say otherwise. -

Because..! No, I'm just running this. It wasn't my idea. The 2 strikers will be a separate vote though. -
Watched V for Vendetta [2005] on BBC2 earlier this evening. Must say that during the first 10-20 minutes I was going to turn the TV off and go away to do something less boring instead. But I'm glad I stuck with it. The film got a lot better, and started to become nicely thought provoking. I'd bet it would not be everyone's taste, but when it comes around again [as they do so quickly nowadays], I'd ask people to give it a go. Just give it some time.

You wouldn't believe how more serious some are being about this. -
I can't help but sympathise with fans, who are utterly helpless to do anything. Supporting the club doesn't help. Staying away doesn't help. What are they to do, but show their displeasure. If they can't have fun watching the game, then they'll make their own fun. Give them a decent distraction on the green stuff, and they'll start shouting in the right direction. Season ticket holders are entitled to demand. They put their money where their mouths are. They've seen far better times, and remember them well. I bet a fair few ticket holders left the game early today for the first time ever.

TBF, TopGun has a point.

Jan is being interviewed on Radio Hampshire now. I feel very sorry for him, because I believe he does know what he's doing, but he's being handcuffed by the finances, and the players at his disposal. But he wants to impose a system on players who don't seem to know how to play as a team, the way he wants them to. I've just heard him admit that he doesn't know what to do regarding where the goals are going to come from. For me, that's enough. As a manager, you should never not know what to do. But if Poortvliet has to go, then Rupert and Co has to go too.

Where is that little bugger that many tried to stuff some sense into. The one who arrogantly called certain loyal Saints fans, flatcaps..? The one who called a passionate manager, the bootboy..? The one that called the present management, the golden duo..? The one that lauds the present Chair so high, he mistakenly calls him a Lord. Well..? Where are you..? Paid off, no doubt.

Radio Hampshire phone in is quite interesting. The callers are talking quite a bit of sense, and David Armstrong can only agree with their comments. He's also saying a few home truths himself.

To those that think JP is on his way this week...
St Landrew replied to tisspahars's topic in The Saints
I don't have a problem with Poortvliet. The way the finances are keeping him handcuffed, I doubt anyone would do better. Probably worse. Radical change is required. Takeover please. Get it sorted. And Rupert never to darken the doorstep ever again. Well I can dream. -
Well this is it, isn't it. Saints have historically gone for the cheap option. Guess where they didn't..? During the Lawrie McMenemy era. And even he had to do things bloody close to the bone. SFC are just cheap. Pure and Simple. Tbh, I'd rather we end this slow decline, so that we either get a club that's worth supporting, or closes forever. Frankly, I've got better things to do.

End this shambles please ref.

Second half thread now open.

I imagine that's the feeling the team have. Which is probably why they are under the cosh. Never under estimate the opposition.

OK. -
Don't worry, the quality can be appallingly bad. I've lost all hope they'll start using a caching player so that the terrible jerkiness disappears. Saints TV any good for you, or is that UK only..?

I bet the corner seats are cold. Haven't been sat on in ages.

Apologies for the tardiness of opening the thread. We'll string the culprit up by his nasal hair.
