  1. Be patient. Plasma TVs of all sizes should eventually plummet in price, as everyone realises how much extra electricity they consume over the alternative LCD TV. If there is no stock, I wouldn't expect items to be renewed in great numbers either. Plasma TVs will always be an interim technology, unless they massively improve the efficiency of them.
  2. Probably Stern John or Rasiak. But it depends what you call big name. If you mean REALLY big name, then Kevin Keegan.
  3. Something a little better than that for me. Agreed Lowe Out, Wilde Out, blah blah.. But huge takeover news not to be just rumour, but actual AND it happens over the next 30 days. The buy out only happens on condition that RL and all of his crowd sever their connections with SFC, never to return. They protest, and the present Board is subject to a humiliating stadium walkout. The Board resigns quickly [they've seen how much they'll each get], and the takeover proceeds, with Saints eventually making comfortable mid-table, as the Club become united once more. They then buy their way upwards and out of this league next season. They play scintillating football, even JP is still in charge, I don't care, as I'd like him to have a chance with players that are good enough. But basically, Lowe and Co are out and success is back for SFC. That's not too much to ask, is it..?
  4. Yes, you're probably right. Maybe I've got Poll Fever.
  5. Take CF with you, would you..? Leave him there perhaps..!
  6. No. But we'll probably lose a few if that helps to answer your question.
  7. Please cut out the insults peeps. I think we do have some evidence that votes from this forum CAN be representative of other sections of Saints fans, if indeed the whole groundswell of support. When we conducted our independent poll on The Saints Web, on whether the fans would like to retain Nigel Pearson or not, we ended with 95% [or thereabouts] of Saints Web voters wanting to retain his services. Unbeknown to us, Radio Hampshire were conducting exactly the same poll [i think they started theirs in response to seeing ours]. Now Radio Hampshire may not be the biggest station ever, but their appeal spreads beyond the Internet Forum set, and possibly to different Saints fans altogether. And yet their poll resulted in almost exactly the same 95%. In fact, I think it was a tad [1%] more conclusive. Now we could argue that either one result was random. But to have two results working in the same direction, and to be within 1% point of each other, is hardly something to be dismissed out of hand.
  8. Agreed. But I think I should defend St Marys good points a little here. The view isn't OK, it's actually more like Superb. There are no poor viewing areas at St Marys, even though we might have more affection for the Ol' Girl. I think I might devise some sort of poll to get some interesting answers.
  9. Because the WHOLE setup is geared towards Jan Poortvliet's style of football. The youngsters have had their academy training in the European style, with technical ability at the forefront. A new manager will have to buckle to the same constraints. He will NOT have the chance to spend money on new players, so the players he will coach will be the same, and they will perform just as inconsistently. JP is not imposing a style on footballers who can't play it. They are used to this style, through Georges Prost, who was hugely successful in the academy with it. But these players are having to make the consistent step-up in quality too early in their careers. And some aren't good enough yet, and possibly never will be if they don't achieve some success soon. They say nothing breeds like success, but nothing breeds like failure too. Sadly, this new broom mentality, that you are recommending, doesn't always work. And hardly ever, at Saints.
  10. Think about it. They are still in the corner, at one end. The perfect place for their noise to be maximised like a sound horn. Away fans should be placed in some section of the Itchen or Kingsland stands where their loud noises would have a much smaller affect.
  11. But who did you vote for..? Remember, best player, not your favourite.
  12. A full stadium of home fans wouldn't drown out a few thousand committed away fans in full voice. It's always the away fans that are more vociferous and committed. Fact is, the away fans section should not be placed at one of the ends of the stadium. That's the obvious St Marys stadium faux pas.
  13. I take it we've all read this link today: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4005995.Jan_calls_for_a__unified__Saints_in_2009/ Jan's problem is that he doesn't know the history of SFC in the last 12 years or so. He doesn't know that Rupert has never been fully accepted by Saints fans. Even during high points of his tenure there has been genuine dislike of RL. OK, that's possible of any chairman, but he happens to be our chairman, along with the supposed football club chairman, Michael Wilde. So we have not one, but two hated figures at the top of the club. Add in **Guy I'll take my 30 pieces of silver now Askham, and you have quite a hated trio. Sadly, Jan Poortvliet and Mark Wotte are tarred with that same brush, through little fault of their own, in my opinion. **allegedly. :smt012
  14. Bump: just getting rid of that Stanford To Withdraw headline off the forum..!
  15. 94% is almost exactly the figure that both Radio Hampshire and The Saints Web returned in their independent polls to keep Nigel Pearson on at the end of last season. It's a loose connection, but it is complete reversal of the fans opinions about those that run the club. I see nothing other than complete and abject failure. But there is half the season to go, so we might as well draw out the agony [although I'm weaning myself off Saints surprisingly well, and becoming rather more objective], just to see if SFC can preserve its Championship status. And that's actually becoming a laugh.
  16. You'll fit rather more comfortably into this website then.
  17. A new manager won't make the smallest difference. This is the whole point of the thread. A new manager/coach will just make us even poorer, and will find himself shackled by the same constraints as JP currently is. League One status is not something a managerial change is going to affect. We're heading for it because the club is setting itself up for it. We must change the whole policy of the club to effect a change, not just the poor bloody coach.
  18. That's more like it..!
  19. Found the website again after losing the link. The website is currently undergoing maintenance, so there's little to see, except a video on Youtube. Have a look: http://absalutecology.com/home.html Of course, it doesn't help the validity of the idea that it comes from Kazakhstan. But this is technology primarily aimed at industrial emissions. Something which can help us a great deal, but could be even more useful if we go back to using coal. P.S. Sorry this TMS thread has become a tad serious. Blame CF for asking.
  20. Tell you what, you die now, or very soon - just don't hang around or linger, and then the rest of us can get on with making the planet hospitable for your future generations.
  21. Don't know about that. I sent him a website address about a technology that reduces industrial pollution to less than 1% of its current levels. The technology is being looked at by the US and Germany. Our government doesn't even know it exists. I thought Branson might like to get the UK aware. I didn't even get a reply.
  22. Thanks for the get wells peeps. I know I must have been somewhere near hallucinating last night because I left almost every light on in the house [all low energy, so no problem], left the bathroom window wide open, and the heating on; and worst of all... I didn't leave this link to the Golden Posts: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14 Where you can find the nominations for the LM position, and all the other threads too. If you want.
  23. And it's people who don't understand the process who still pour scorn on it. The reason it was changed from global warming to climate change was because the latter term is considered more accurate. Although, the Earth is heating up due to the release of greenhouse gases causing more heat to be trapped hence why they are collectively called greenhouse gases. That is not scaremongering. It is a scientific fact. Whether this is the cause of planet becoming an inhabitable place, or not for humans, is the what you might call scaremongering. But seeing as the significant change take place very slowly, say over 50-100 years, it would very wrong of us to write off the whole scientific evidence, being wary that generations on from us, possibly our grandchildren, could have a miserable, and possibly short life. But seeing as this is TMS, technology will come roaring to the rescue and everyone will live happily ever after.
  24. Thanks for your nominations. I'm off to bed with my umpteenth Lem-Sip, and here are your last 6 players to vote for. One player only. Thank you.
  25. For the umpteenth time, first player only. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And that's it. I'm feeling super crap, as I have since waking up on Christmas morning. So this nominations thread comes to an end, and I go to bed. The voting thread will appear shortly. Only the top 6 nominations will go into the final vote. All those people who have nominated others that have not made it into the final vote still do not read the instructions, and only the first of their suggestions have been selected unless they have singled out the one they want chosen. Ta.
