  1. As this thread might last the entire month, I thought I'd spruce the title up a bit. Sorry I haven't a single player to add. :smt012
  2. That's because it was in the Lounge.
  3. Sadly, for Ian The Red, all I shall be picking from that lot is Steve Moran. First come, first served, and all that.
  4. Go to the Golden Post area to find out.
  5. Don't worry, it's in TMS.
  6. Actually a superb striker in his own right. KK had an extremely high opinion of him. Need one say more..?
  7. I don't normally criticise people's posts unless they are offensive, but that is complete rubbish. Sorry if that offends. LM's ego has every right to be slightly enlarged. He did orchestrate the finest Saints team in living memory, and if backed by a bit more financial clout would have gone on to make his Saints team even better. Frankly, the guy performed bloody miracles, on a relative shoestring budget. Remember, it's always a shoestring budget at SFC. LM had a little bit more to spend than previous managers, but just made the extra pounds work brilliantly. What you're saying is like damning Ferguson for being good at his job at ManU.
  8. Err, no legends thanks. Remember..?
  9. Derek played left of George O'Brien, I believe. So I'll nominate George. No bugger it, I'll nominate Derek Reeves instead. Never saw him play, but by all accounts, he was a cracking striker. Apparently fell over a lot, in the oops, my studs are too short kind of way, rather than the ref, ref, this bastard's taken me out again, kind of way. Dammit..! Charlie Wayman. In for a penny..!
  10. I'm struggling to think of a single minority category you've left out, DSM. Nope, can't fine one. Ah... has Down's Syndrome and [when held erect on the single peg] is officially the height of a dwarf too. Or would that be downist and heightist of the BBC if they did that..? Think I'd rather have Matt Smith from ITV's Championship, anyway. At least he'd definitely be in work after this season then.
  11. The reason I went for the nomination of one striker per week is that there is a very great danger of a striker partnership appearing, if you nominate 2 players at the same time. Though they need not necessarily be the 2 best players. But that's a very sensible idea - we'll consider the B team striker separately. We need not start again, as the usual suspects, so to speak, are being nominated, but only one player will come out on top of the final vote. I will edit the initial message. Cheers.
  12. True there's always that nasty little trick that HP, Acer, Packard Bell, and the like will perform, and that's the cabinet files that lurk on the PC's HDD, which the CD just refers to. It's an appalling rip off that suppliers like those above get away with year after year. When people ask me what to look out for when buying a PC, one of my buyer beware signs is the pre-installed software bundle, and to ask the question: Do these discs contain the full programs..? If the answer is no, then the PC possibly ain't quite the bargain you thought it was. In fact, I usually say to completely ignore whatever software comes with the machine and to concentrate of the hardware spec. Hate software bundles. Usually crap and rarely used after purchase anyway.
  13. Good spot.
  14. Unless there is a component in the software program that requires a certain piece of hardware to be in the computer that is obviously no longer there, then I would suggest that there really isn't a problem, and that a little bit of creative installation is all that is required. Over the years between the first install and now, have the discs been well looked after..? If they are less than perfect, then they may refuse to install. Do the discs attempt to install..? Have you tried looking at the disc contents and finding the SETUP or INSTALL file..? There's also the Win95/98 compatibility mode which allows WinXP to run much earlier software. Basically, there's usually a way the problem unless the discs are scratched. And in that case, it's out with a disc scratch repairer before you can resume.
  15. You'll get your chance to nominate the other forward next weekend.
  16. Which kind of gives you an idea why the original garage lost its Kia dealership.
  17. Now it's time to nominate the greatest striker, in living memory, ever to grace a Saints side, on the right of a pair. Only one player mind, and remember to suspend that favourite player or legend idea, and go for the best. No reputations required, just quality. There's many to have graced Saints attacks over the years, so let's have them here. If you mention more than one player, I will count only the first unless you especially want another player nominated. By the end of Sunday, if there are more than 6 players nominated, the ones with the most nominations will go into the final vote. Now you've been told for the umpteenth time. Get nominating. Please note: due to a very good suggestion from rpb, this week's vote will only decide the right side A-team striker. Next week will decide the B-Team striker on the right.
  18. Thanks peeps, the votes are now in. Try as hard as I can I don't honestly see Chris Marsden as being anywhere the second best LM ever to have graced a Saints side in living memory, but mine is only an opinion and I must abide by the vote just as everyone else does. And he was in quite a successful side, and played a full part. Perhaps also, players like John Sydenham will end up as subs for either A or B team. But, the line up so far, is as follows: For the A Team: ------------------Shilton------------------- Golac------Wright-----Svensson-------Bridge Paine-------Ball------Le Tissier-----Armstrong --------------?------------------------------ And for the B Team: -------------------Niemi--------------------- Dodd-------Lundekvam-----Watson-----Dennis D.Wallace------Williams-----Case------Marsden --------------?------------------------------- And now the nominations start for perhaps the two most eagerly awaited positions. Go over to it now and nominate the best striker you can think of to play in the RF position. Just one player mind. No legends, just quality. Ta.
  19. If you haven't seen it: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/fa_cup/7783151.stm
  20. Think he's being quite polite and well meaning there. I foresee either a complete thrashing, or a... No, just a complete thrashing.
  21. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_city/7807951.stm In his time, thoroughly underused by Chelsea, IMO. Now he'll be going to an exciting place, where he'll be appreciated.
  22. This sort of thing can happen with almost any make of car, and almost any purchase. We've all heard the horror stories of people being fobbed off from companies. I've known of friends with a BMW who had nothing but trouble with it. I have a relative who, against everybody's advice, actually bought a Kia 4X4 of some description, a couple of years back. Never had a problem with it since. Understandably, there are car makers where it is more likely to happen than others, but no company, even Rolls-Royce, is completely innocent.
  23. Look, we have to take the small comforts where we can get them, ok..? You'd have been doing the same several seasons ago.
  24. Shouldn't his first [and only] side be Bristol Rovers then..?
  25. No Voyager this evening, the Beeb's 3 Men In A Boat series was its usual laugh. Being set along the coast of Cornwall brought a bit of grit to the eye. Every time I see footage of Cornwall, it renews my love of the place.
