  1. It might seem fashionably over-reactive of the Council, but I go along with this thinking. It's bad enough getting older and getting overweight as one slows down, and I'd should know, I'm nearly 14 stone and I should be 13 stone. But being young and overweight is a massive strain on the body. And being obese is like sitting on a time-bomb. If the couple want to adopt a child badly enough, the man will slim down to a weight, and not put it back on. It will be healthier for him, and will be a good example to the child, who they would have no problems in adopting. I notice the partner isn't the sveltest of individuals either.
  2. Actually, we're not voying for anybody here. We're just nominating which, btw, will come to an end this evening. This we can get on with voting. Here's the breakdown in the next few weeks: Tonight, voting will begin on the final players from this nominations thread Next weekend we nominate the A-Team's left-sided striker, who we'll then go onto vote for. Then we'll do the same for the B-Team. Then we'll decide on the subs for each team Then the Managers Then if I ever get over this effing flu, I'll bore you all to death with a one or two articles on the main website. One suggestion is to write a match report of a hypothetical game between the two teams. I mean, who would win that one..?
  3. Come on mate, you can be more specific than that.

  5. Caught MOTD2 last night and saw Redknapp's comments. That didn't surprise me. What did was what has happened to Gareth Bale. The lad has lost so much confidence that he's become a shadow of his former self. He's taken huge steps backwards.

  7. Question Of Sport, SuperStars, Ski Sunday. I actually took up skiing for several years because of David Vine and Ski Sunday. Another stone in the old institution that shaped us has been removed. RIP.

  9. But at least he had a few bob, and knew when to quit, leaving them in a better position today. Despite firing Bambi, of course.
  10. Yeah but it's post after post about yesterday's result, or RL. Understandable I suppose, but it gets a bit tedious. Talking about Ray Mears, one day I'm going to do some fire making using one of the survival methods Ray shows us, just for the hell of it. I keep promising myself I will - just once will do.
  11. Bored, bored, bored. Just missed an unannounced Ray Mears Extreme Survival programme. Least I got to see him make fire from nothing again - always a thrill. Can I stand watching Alan Sugar..? My eldest brother knows him from Sugar flogging car aerials out the back of an estate in the 1960s. Then came AMS Trading and the rest is history. God, I'm so bored I think I'm going to watch it.
  12. Here's an interesting stab from the past. Instructions for setup and use of the elegant SME 3012 Series 2 pickup arm. An absolute classic of its time. They used to claim, under the big SME logo... The Best Pickup Arm in the World... and they were probably right for about 10 years until the rediscovery of the sonic qualities Moving Coil cartridge gave rise to many new designs. BTW, it's a PDF file. http://www.retrohifi.co.uk/seriesiiins.pdf I'm not suggesting you fit one off these. It would be a waste.
  13. Also agreed; it looks like Sajeis could be the real deal, but it is only one game, and it is but one tiny step. I was watching an old MOTD I have, where we beat Liverpool 2-0 at home, and Jonathan Pearce said of Harry Redknapp's side... It's not the Great Escape, it's not even the beginning of the Great Escape. But it's enough to start a Great Escape committee... And we know what became of that season. Well, we're probably at a similar point right now, albeit a division lower, with a smaller chance of succeeding.
  14. I've a feeling we're not an exclusive club.
  15. Of course, the reason why they cost so much is because it has Beogram owners, who want to keep their beautiful turntable, over a barrel, in the sense that you can only replace the MMC20S with another one of the same fitting type. It doesn't have the standard half inch fitting of more flexible designs. You could probably get it re-tipped for a small amount. Anything upto £50 would be worth it. I'd actually consider fitting another pickup arm to the thing. Plenty of them around, and it would give you access to almost every existing cartridge going.
  16. Indeed, and I thought he was a good choice too, from a footballing perspective. Back then we had a squad who were capable of doing decent things. But all the fussing and fiddling around by both Board and then Manager just defused the whole effort. And how well would this club have done if it had been promoted..? Possibly marginally better than Derby County, but I wouldn't have counted on it. No doubt the extra millions would have been partly sucked away instead of properly building a Premiership squad, capable of holding their own in the top flight. Typically, Saints would have spent as little as they could have got away with, instead of making sure. What do I read like here..? Someone who has little confidence in the present Boardroom doing the right thing..? Yep.
  17. I'm getting tired of saying it, but the present Board will make sure we work towards an operating profit in League 1, then League 2 and so on. But it's not the stuff of football and the fans will eventually disappear. The South Coast is a diverse region with plenty of other interests for those who want something different. And honestly, if things don't change dramatically to an upward direction, I think all but the core[est] of core supporters will end up doing them. We're still not used to being second tier, and we're fast heading for the third.
  18. FF, I assume you saw the other Lowe/Saints related videos on that link too. As mentioned on another thread the other day, I've found a complete episode of Meridian's The Club from 2002/03, on a VHS tape. There's a Lowe interview on it, and, as usual, he comes across as the chocolately smooth character that is the surface Rupert.
  19. Knew it would happen. But what are they going to do about these DAB radios then..? They consume upto 20 times as much electricity as the equivalent FM/AM radio. Oh dear. Digital can be costly.
  20. Yeah, I like the guy's presentation. He comes across as extremely able and knowing of all the pitfalls. Just after I started using his website I had a major HDD failure and completely forgot the web address, name, everthing. I couldn't find him, so reluctantly, I looked at other online teachers, but none were as good. When I put up the link, it was the first time I'd found our Mr Sandercoe again. So now I'm back with enthusiasm and [sadly] soft finger ends. Lately recommended by Brian May too. Whatever your musical persuasion, you have to admit that carries some weight.
  21. Yes, hear what you say TDD, but that's not really the point is it..? This Prince is meant to be an example to the people of the UK, otherwise what the f**k is he any use for..? It's more than enough that the State makes sure the Royal family want for nothing, but it behoves them to do the job expected of them, and without fault too. As usual, whether or not they do their jobs properly, my call is abdicate.
  22. Not that I'm incredibly interested, just bored trying to keep the flu at bay. But Howard Webb always seems to be in charge of games at OT. Is there a little thing going between Manure and the FA..?
  23. Remember what I said about collectors items..? Check this out: http://www.lpgear.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=LG&Product_Code=BOMMC20S My first reaction was F**K ME..! As to yours, go get it checked out by a hi-fi specialist. They'll usually do it for free. Btw, in its time I doubt the MMC20S cost more than £20.
  24. I get the feeling I should get my old soldering iron out, test meter and alignment gauges and jigs, and advertise myself as an engineer for ancient hi-fi equipment. Too much of this stuff ends up at the tip, and most of it is of better quality than what replaces it. Just a few years back, I saw a battered [from being thrown from height] Armstrong 521 amp from the 1960's at the bottom of a council skip. I'm sure the owner had absolutely no idea that he/she could have advertised it in non-working condition, and got about £40 for it. As a working amp, probably £150-250. Collectors item..!
  25. Why not just replace the cartridge..? BTW, if all is functioning as it should on the Nakamichi 530, you shouldn't need the pre-amp. Cancel your order.
