  1. I love The Sun's maximisation of a storm in a tea-cup, when they say... Euell has not featured in the first team THIS YEAR. My god... that means he hasn't played for... 14 days..!
  2. Will. Bring back Saga. Steve Strange takes away your gravitas.
  3. Even as a child, when Patrick's character, in The Prisoner would state... I am not a number, I am a free man, it would ring so true with me. He wouldn't be pushed around. He would decide what he stood for, and what his life meant. And McGoohan himself played those maverick roles so convincingly because he was similar to his characters. And to a certain extent, I have always been the same. I've never unthinkingly followed trends, or fashion, or being into things just cause my mates were. Mind you, they were like minded. Well they had to be a bit similar otherwise we wouldn't be mates. So it's with quite some sadness for me that a childhood icon of mine has died. I'm getting to the age where they're all starting to pop their clogs. RIP Danger Man. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7829267.stm
  4. Yeah..! Anyway... Airdrieonians.
  5. Never had a bad present, but had a few mediocre ones. I received my last Xmas present, for this Xmas just gone, only last night. A very nice 1 litre bottle of Bushmills Whisky. I'm going to take my time over that one.
  6. Mmm, initial impressions are that with 1.5gb memory on board, Windows 7 is faster than Vista but the same speed as XP with 512 - 768mb. Might as well stick with WinXP, and on this initial showing, I think a lot of people will. The problem isn't with Vista or Win7, it's with XP. WinXP is good enough for most people and their purposes. At least the DVD is good until 1st August.
  7. Oh dear, that's a shame. Hope you didn't break a foo-foo valve doing it.
  8. You pick who you damn well please.
  9. Used to love listening to the Motown records, played pre-match, over the Tannoy at the Dell in the 1960s-70s. The musical taste definitely went the way of Yes, Led Zep, Sid Barrett Pink Floyd, etc... XTC and onward, but in my heart I can still hear those old classic Motown records, and they still give me a buzz. This is typical of the era: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8zCz8SKmGek Brilliant stuff. EDIT: Got to add this: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DqahfIsYCGk
  10. lol..! :smt044
  11. You been watching Billy Connolly's World Tour Of NZ recently..? Good story. Apart from the obvious awful thing, which is to die, fighting for a cause, in a far off country; I think it's terrible that these dead soldiers are not reunited with their homelands. In many cases, the families will never see the headstones of these brave people that lie in cemeteries far away, and that's simply not right.
  12. Yes... try as I might, I can't think of a single good attribute the bloke has. Even his 1st election victory was hugely debatable. Lost the popular vote, but won the last state on the second count, and the Governor was a cousin or something..? Bloody fishy, that one. And people used to go on about Tony Blair..! F**k me, ol' TB is an intellectual giant compared to Gee-Dubbya.
  13. Let me guess..? You voted for Ron Davies..? You see, I voted for Kevin Keegan, and only he's in italics when I look at the results so far. It's a thing the Poll does to remind you who you voted if you go back much later to review the results.
  14. Yes. I mean really, Silverstone is still a converted airfield, despite all the fannying around. It's the reason I'm no great fan of the circuit. Over the years they've put a few squiggles and chicanes in here and there, but essentially it is still a blast from one corner to the next. Well... more so than other tracks anyway. At least the Ducati will like it. Mind you, by 2010 it could be all change. Hope they don't even consider piddling around with the Indy circuit. Apart from Brands, what other tracks could they have chosen..? Tbh, I think I'm wishing they weren't going to change at all now..!?! EDIT: Remember this..? This is the race of the famous two finger gesture. Btw, care to count the riders..? There's loads of them: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=70FPdFMMgLk
  15. As you're a registered user I can't send you a PM thanks, so it'll have to be here. Ta, for your support and patience, Panda.
  16. If I'd have seen this post at the time it was put up, I'd have probably deleted it. Try to retain the spirit of a thread please. If you have stories, write them up. If you have none, then please shut up. Which is why you won't see many from me. In the spirit of the thread, can I just say though that Peter Osgood was the first player outside of Sothampton FC who became a bit of a hero to a young lad. Yeah there was the entire England team of 66 and 70, but none of them were like Ossie. I suppose it really started when he headed in that dramtic equaliser in the FA Cup Final replay against Leeds at OT in 1970 [our own ex-Saint David Webb heading the winner]. That was so brilliant he took on legendary status for me. I even had a Chelsea kit as a 11 year old because, 1] my Mum couldn't get a Saints kit, and 2] she knew my second choice would only have been the team Ossie played for. Despite being in the latter part of his career, I was absolutely bowled over when Lawrie signed him. It was the stuff of legend.
  17. Whether it would have been easier this way or that is of no consequence. You look at the title of the thread, read the instructions and vote. Or you do as TDD does and write a one liner exclaiming confusion. Or just don't vote if you don't want to. It's because I listened to posters differing opinions that we changed the procedure slightly. But of course, I should have known that what pleases one will antagonise another. Ta.
  18. Good..! Never liked Donnington as a bike track. Mind you, Silerstone isn't brilliant. Much prefer the full Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
  19. Remember her..? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oj0kr1QLjD0 Wow..! Did anyone notice she lost 10 pounds..? I didn't know that. Well, we know it wasn't for long. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=I6j6GcP3-uQ She got even heavier too. After a quick search, this is the most recent video I've found: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=71fOJvqdaRY Anybody notice the parent in all this..? I mean, how thick [excuse the pun] do you have to be not to notice that your kid is suffering..? Surely people don't need to be taught to know when something like this is wrong. Anyway, seems that state services did the right thing here. Of course, this is extreme. But how many years will go by before it isn't..? Hopefully the girl will keep the weight off. Perhaps her Mum should follow her example.
  20. Quite a few serious nominations, and obviously, quite a few not so serious. For example, anyone who thinks Uwe Rosler was one of the top 4 strikers ever to have appeared for Saints in living memory needs their head examined. And I thought I was the one with the befuddled brain..! Anyway, to continue. Where several people were mentioned, the first player was taken in account, unless instructed otherwise. There were several neear misses, but this week we have a top 7 of players with more than one nomination. They are: James Beattie [2] Phil Boyer [3] Martin Chivers [2] Ron Davies [5] Kevin Keegan [6] Steve Moran [4] Marian Pahars [3] They're a fantastic 7 players to choose from, some being great enough to slot into any team. Please remember that you are voting for one player only, and that the winning candidate cannot be nominated or voted for in the A-Team next week or thereafter. So really we're after the third/fourth best striker ever to appear for Saints in our time. So choose carefully. The poll runs until early Saturday morning.
  21. OK peeps that's it. Thanks for the nominations. Thread closed.
  22. 108 years. What changes that man has seen. I really hope he retained his belief that it was all worth fighting for. RIP.
  23. I suppose, after Will's good comments, I'm going to give it a download. What the hell - it's free.
  24. I think it's Microsoft's own website. EDIT: There. Put you out of your misery. Read first. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/default.aspx
