What with your team or Saints..? BTW, did you end buying that boat I suggested..?

I think Hoddle is right. The modern top footballer, and I mean those from the 1990s onward, do have a second-half career chance by using the experience they have gained, and ally it to better fitness trends. The only footballers who will suffer are the ones whose game depends entirely on pace and response, e.g. Michael Owen. And even he isn't doing too bad of late, now that his injuries and the expectation levels of him have abated.

Appropriately 1-1. They even managed to waste the third point between them. Best result all round.

Well I suppose if there were any drugs stolen that were capable of putting the average domestic animal to sleep, they would be considered lethal. You'd only have to increase the dosage by a tad and off you'd go to bye-bye land, never to return. Of course, it always helps a headline. I'd hate to be a journalist, having to write the news in such a way so that it attracts rubber neckers.

Sorry but that is just newspaper talk. You might as well ask what would happen if pieces of a plane came off. And actually to assume the vibrations would be quite strong is to misunderstand. If any modern engine vibrates excessively, then it is not performing correctly. And you design a deflector to withstand all that comes at it, and not be excessively weighty. It might even be able to tailor air flow so that it enters an engine more efficiently. That's what good design does. You don't just tack something on and hope it doesn't fall off.

I left it for 24 hours or so before I put up a message on this thread. I've looked for a bright side and I can't find one.

But they weren't between 8-15,000 and dropping. They were around 17-20,000. You say if we were in the top 6, like it's just a matter of mere circumstance. We're not in the top 6. We're unlikely to be in this league come the end of May. I'm sorry to question your stance on this, SOG, but what part of this club crisis don't you understand..?

Nobody doubts that Rupert is good at balancing the books. He didn't invent his City reputation. But he has a terrible tendancy to shave too much off where it matters to keep investment going, and that is on the pitch. And that investent can't be for the long term, it has to be for the present. In a sense, much as it is a wonderful thing - bugger the academy..! There will be no academy when SFC can no longer afford to run it. There will be no stadium when Saints are no longer in a league where they can fill it. There will be no club when fans turn away for the last time because they have seen enough failure. Wake up FFS..!

Yes, a very good letter indeed. As there is no appealing to Rupert Lowe or Guy Askham, then this is possibly the last reasonable option for Saints fans to ask their Boardroom to listen. I believe Michael Wilde would read it, but as FF says, it's really whether he's got the stomach to a] answer it, and b] do something about it. Something has to be done.

OK Will, let's you and me design one, and make some fast dosh..!

I don't why it hasn't struck me before [pun not intended], that engine designers don't offer a domed mask for the engine. It can't be difficult to design what is essentially a aerodynamic meshed deflector that allows air to pass through, but deflects birds and objects. The first time one does its job, it's paid for itself. Something like this [click on the thumbnail]:

Was my thought too. RIP to a bloody nice bloke and a brilliant teacher and presenter. He showed art in process, and allowed kids access to their imaginations. I'll certainly miss Tony Hart. Vision On: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yq8JoTaVCZA

I ask the question because to some people the removal of Lowe would not be sufficient. The likes of Andrew Cowen and Guy Askham also raise tempers.

We've had these confidence votes several times before, most recently the support [or not] of Nigel Pearson. As far as I'm concerned, this is timely poll. And unless the Admin guys strongly object, I'll put one up for you to vote on. How would you like it expressed exactly..? EDIT: For those who think it is a forgone conclusion, this sort of expression should be shown, to those with power, who read this forum, or frustration results in fans.

We keep saying it... Hell, I first said it last season just before Xmas, because I couldn't see anything but the downward trend continuing. But it is an absolute must - you have to boycott games en masse, backed up with a statement of intent that the fans will be back when the present regime goes - never to return. It may take 2,3 or even 5 games, and you won't get a completely empty stadium. But if the crowds go down to 2-3,000 and less as people get the idea, the Board will panic. And anything is better than the present slow and quiet death.

Why would a new manager of any quality want to work with Rupert Lowe?
St Landrew replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Wrong. Maybe one or two desperate enough, or from far enough away that they aren't aware of the shenanigans that go on at St Marys. But you won't find managers of quality beating down the door anymore. -
Believe me, it won't be a patch on how bad it's going to feel if there is not a change in Board and direction.
-
I'm not sure it should be called not-backing-Strachan, as WGS was always going eventually. But whatever you call it - I tend to call it brinkmanship - this was a mistake that the rest have flowed from, and so it's easily the biggest of many. EDIT: I see Saint Clark has described it better.

The thrust of people's objective's shouldn't be to force out Jan Poortvliet, because he is just a symptom. The cancer in the club is Lowe, Askham and Wilde. The rest are largely Yes people who'll stand by, or are powerless to do anything, while the ship sinks like a stone. Jan Poortvliet will go when the regime changes. It's a great shame that he is tarnished with the same brush, but he'll be a victim of change, should it ever happen. Saints can no longer tinker around. To me, the club is synonymous with being cheap, ever since I can remember. The one time Saints have spent real money [on the stadium] it has dragged them down because the real lesson of spending, in other important areas, at the right time was lost on them. The initial penny pinching in the Premiership is directly responsible for the present situation. Not never, not slightly, but 100% of the reason Saints are wallowing in decline. Because all this wringing of hands would be entirely unnecessary. That is not looking back in 20/20 hindsight, it is an absolute fact, and it will happen to any business that budgets to stand still rather than moving forward. The situation the club faces was predictable from the day it was relegated, if it was to act, in proportion in the Championship, as it had in the previous season. Budgeting for survival gets you just that and no more. It may even get you less.

I've never known any club to have been so divided by a Board as this one. I don't think they're actually pro or anti Lowe. I believe they're probably united against Lowe, it's just that everyone is SO ANGRY, that almost anything will get them to kick off into violence. Normally I don't condone any personal violence, but I actually have some sympathy for them. This crisis must be destroying some fans. The only solution is for Lowe to leave, even if it means certain relegation to League 1 and administration. Because I don't see anyone uniting under the present Board.

SFC don't need me. SFC has shown plenty of times it doesn't need me. More importantly, from my perspective, is that I no longer need SFC.

Goodbye Championship. Hello League 1.
