Saints Greatest XI - Nominations for Left Side Striker in the B-Team.
St Landrew replied to St Landrew's topic in The Saints
Then I will go for Steve Moran, as he was KK's strike partner. And a brilliant partnership they were. Remember..? 1981-82 PFA Player of the Year - Kevin Keegan 1981-82 PFA Young Player of the Year - Steve Moran How's that for a bit of spamming..? Says it all really. -
After the last day's news, I'm sure we're all a bit washed out and lacking in enthusiasm. So if you wish to nominate the B-Team left side striker, then do so. If you don't, I quite understand. This thread will end Sunday evening. EDIT: For those who missed it, here's the A-Team line up: -------------------Shilton--------------------- Golac-------Wright--------Svensson-----Bridge Paine---------Ball---------Le Tissier---Armstrong ------------Channon--------Davies------------- http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=8375

Saints Greatest XI - Best Left Side Striker Poll
St Landrew replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
The poll is closed. As expected, Ron Davies is the last of the 11 in the A-team. I'm not sure I have the enthusiasm to carry this on at the moment, and get you peeps to nominate your B-Team 11th player. I'm sure you understand. But then again, perhaps it'll be a distraction. I'll open the nomination thread and leave it to you. Here's the A-Team line-up as follows: -------------------Shilton--------------------- Golac-------Wright--------Svensson-----Bridge Paine---------Ball---------Le Tissier---Armstrong ------------Channon--------Davies------------- That's a heck of a team. All lead violinists, as Lawrie would say. But plenty of them know how to sweep a road too. Only subs and a manager to add to this lot now. -
Oh, you say that with such confidence. I'm not anything like as optimistic.
-
That's very good. Send it to Radio Hampshire and challenge them to read it out. They'll do it.
-
Knightmare. Because despite their efforts, they can't find their way out of the puzzle.
-
I always think... no, it's actually impossible to feel worse about SFC. Then they go and pull the rug out of whatever you've managed to half-construct your feeling, about this so-called football club, on. They couldn't actually do worse if they actively sat around the table and planned to do badly.
-
Well Pilchards, if you paid £78 to get the wrong guy out in the first place, you could have saved yourself several quid by reducing the surname down to 4 letters. Tbh, you've asked for the wrong person to be removed.
-
I think you're agreeing with me AdrianSFC.

Yes, interesting. In all the years of watching Saints, I can hardly remember a new Saints boss having a novelty effect and winning the next couple of games, like many other clubs. Paul Sturrock may have had some sort of a nursery period, but that was fundamentally because he had inherited some motivated, half-decent players in the squad to work with. And, although I was against his appointment at the time, I'll say it again, had he remained at Saints, this club might be in a very different position to now. Most of the time, Saints squads have had to play out of their skin just to stand still. Putting it basically, a Saints manager is, in my opinion, historically in one of the most hard working positions ever devised in football management. Because they never get sufficient backing. I'm hopeful, but nowhere near optimistic.

Cue several games before a Nigel Pearson lookalike comes in, and this time fails, because we've gone too far down the road of cheapskate failure.
-
Couldn't find the right words. These are perfect.

Nice bloke and responsible for Saints playing some bloody attractive football early in the season. But royally shafted by those above him. Presented with a task that was almost impossible to take on, once teams had seen Saints play. I still think his style would win through if Saints weren't playing 11 inexperienced youngters, but that's a matter for this Board to take care of. No doubt they won't. JP can hold his head high. His compatriot will follow him down the road quite soon once he realises the enormity of his task, and the novelty wears off. Best of luck JP.
-
And my conclusion is why bother changing at all..? This will undoubtedly be more of the same. The real change MUST be whole. I'm almost beginning to want the club to fold rather than have this lot in charge. My love of Saints is set in the past. I can walk away because my first love is Sailing. Ultimately, I could live without Saints, but for all fans who live and breathe the club, this must be truly sickening.
-
Beat me to it.

Feel sorry for JP. Never stood a chance with what he had, but he wrongly believed he could do something, and took a few of us with him for a while. It's a tough job eventually learning that you've been shafted from the moment you took the job on. Typically, the club promotes from within, which would be a great policy if the scenario was an ultra successful one, but clearly this will be more of the same thing. Wotte is being shafted as I write. I hope he knows it. If the Board think they've done the right thing today, then each one of them needs medical attention. Can the Board now properly seek a takeover please, because the fans are heartily sick..? Quite simply - we've had enough.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/7846422.stm This kind of thing really p!sses me off. Isn't there any chance some Kuwaiti sheik could get his butler to pop into the wardrobe and turn out the pockets..? Surely, there should be enough spare change in them to buy Saints..?

I'm not trying to coyly skirt around anything. What I abhor is waste. And if that wood goes to waste just because it belongs to another who probably won't bother to salvage it, unless instructed to do so, then it can go to someone else who can put it to good use..

Remembered I had scanned some pics onto another PC of mine when I sent some 1960's originals off to Ron last year. No reason why he should hog them. I'll upload a few more as I find them. Amazing that Shilton would play for Saints many years later. Click the attachments:

150mph..? Do they have their own motors or something..?

Arrrggghhhhh...! US language alert...! I just hope your location is the other side of the pond.

Exhibiting a mature attitude at last. Perhaps he's learned now. If he can match his attitude and playing he'd be a worthwhile addition to the Saints side. Trouble is, he's no leader.
-
Don't be silly. If I dropped £50 on the floor I'd be able to pick it up, because it would be easily worth my while. If I load my £50 note onto an aircraft, bound for somewhere in the world, and the aircraft does a very bad landing and spills its cargo, and somehow my £50 note gets into someone elses hands, are you telling me that money is sovereign to me..? Come on.. I would hope somebody would find it and put it to good use. If you're going to test my attitude, at least use a decent scenario.

Sure. I don't think Silverstone is that great because they've buggered about with it to its detriment, IMO. 25 years ago [possibly more, possibly less, the memory fails] it was a very fast and open circuit. Nowadays, they have brought it into line, and it is much more similar to other circuits, despite its width; and its identity has been overshadowed.
