  1. I can never make my mind up about ITV Sport. They stay away from Saints for ages, and then, when it looks like there's a big dose of controversial stuff coming along, they jump as if they are just waiting for SFC to fail miserably. Mind you, they go rather ape when we do this to a team: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8003X4OIwGI
  2. I haven't quoted all of your post. CEC, as I accept it all, apart from the bit above in bold. I don't believe RL has EVER been in touch with the football side. Managing [a football team] is a highly skilled job, and only the best need apply. Which is why there are so many bad managers around, as the skill is undervalued. Not everybody can do it, as it needs a certain combination of human skills and techniques. I wholeheartedly agree that the success of the first team is everything to a football club. Everything else flows from that, and everything else is secondary. Even the dullest football fan knows this. But the man in charge of this club doesn't, and never has. Is it finally dawning upon him..?
  3. From those nominated, once again we have a final 6 of players who were nominated more than once. Please don't bother making comments about democracy, Shayne Bradley and Jordan Robertson. I'm still scooping my sides off the floor. Ta. Near misses were: James Beattie, George O'Brien, Frank Worthington and Charlie Wayman. They may still be picked for the subs benches in either team. But the final 6 are [nominations in brackets]: Martin Chivers [6] Steve Moran [3] Peter Osgood [2] Marian Pahars [2] Alan Shearer [3] Rod Wallace [2] Get voting. Ends Friday night/Saturday Morning.
  4. Thank you. Nominations are now closed. Voting will begin shortly and end Friday night/Saturday morning.
  5. It's a democracy with rules. The rules being the greatest ever players to have played for Saints in living memory. Not somebody's mate.
  6. Thanks guys. Attempts to hi-jack the thread will be seen through faster than you can say infraction. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shayne_Bradley
  7. Yeah, I noticed we didn't lose LA.
  8. Who called me the Boot Boy..?
  9. I did more than chortle. That was quite funny. An astute view of 5 minutes in the life of Bagpuss. The dark cloud over my head was withdrawn for a few seconds. Thanks for that PES.

    Nathan Dyer

You've said it yourself. He is a bit lightweight, and gets bullied around the pitch a bit, whenever he's played for Saints. He's only been really effective in a Saints shirt about 3-4 games, if memory serves. It's not because he lacks ability or pace - he's got every bit as much as his old teammate Walcott. In fact, in sheer speed, he might even be a tad faster. What he's historically lacked is between his ears. He's finally learning now though, so perhaps he's too good for us.
  11. That is extremely good stuff CEC. I'd apply to Southampton Football Club if I were you. They need someone who can put the right message across. Just a short contract, of course.
  12. I've recently rediscovered Justin Sandercoe on the web to do my coaching on the guitar. And while I'm practising my boring chords and trying to do the changes, I'm listening to Michael Hedges - Aerial Boundaries, again. It is utterly beautiful and melancholic. His acoustic technique is quite wonderful to hear, and it kind of gets me to play for just a few minutes more, while my fingers are hurting. Got to get those hard pads back. Sometimes I might catch him do a chord change that I can do, and it's a real thrill to get it just as he plays it. Tidies up my guitar sound no end.
  13. Just my little :smt064 matey. Hope it didn't make you feel too :axe:
  14. OK, I'll change the original's title to something a little more relevant. Actually, you're quite right too. Titles SHOULD be relevant to the text.
  15. Are you reading this, THE SOUTHAMPTON LEISURE HOLDINGS and SOUTHAMPTON FOOTBALL CLUB BOARDS..? This is just ordinary fan opinion from far and wide.
  16. Oh, btw, just a reminder of the B-Team so far: ----------------------Niemi---------------------- Dodd------Lundekvam------Watson---------Dennis D.Wallace----Williams---------Case--------Marsden --------------Keegan-----------?----------------- I just wonder whether this team hasn't got just a bit more grit than the A-Team to overcome them. Still, after this vote we have subs and managers to go, so there's still room for variation.
  17. Your mum's nomination is good enough for me..!
  18. Quite satisfying to know that Matty immedaitely agrees with the Lunatic Fringe; i.e. The Fans.
  19. I think Crouch is the only one who comes out of this with any semblance of good reputation.
  20. No offence to Michael Svensson, but that's a fob off. His excellent image is being used as a barricade to hide behind.
  21. Yes, I found that slightly difficult to take in. I consider Saints fans to be a pretty patient bunch, when all is said and done. They've put up with mediocrity and a lack of ambition for season after season. Whenever there has been light at the end of the tunnel, it has been snuffed out. And only when disaster is imminent do they finally lose their cool. I don't condone fighting [i assume this is the let down excuse], but I can easily understand the frustration. Any football club has aspirations to success, or they might as well not exist. Can anyone call this aspirations to success..? People might think... oh, but we've got a lovely stadium..! Well so we bloody should have. Fans put up with the cramped Dell [gawd bless it] for 25-30 years too long. I call that patience.
  22. But take away Nigel Pearson, because he wasn't appointed by Rupert Lowe, but by Leon Crouch, and recommended by Lawrie McMenemy. So it's 13. Anyone superstitious..? You can always call Dodd/Gorman, one appointment; which makes 12 again.
  23. Good.
  24. Here's a curious one. Let's enter the world of fantasy football club boardrooms and ask, in an ideal world of takeovers and buy outs... who, of the current board members at SFC would you like to see stay, should a takeover happen..? My guess is... well that's not for me to say. Remember, no OUTS, just INS.
  25. I suspect Mark Wotte's contract will last as long as the club..!
