For those people who have been unable to sleep since I posted this question at 2.00am this morning, the artist was Elton John, the song is, of course, Amy, and the album is Honky Chateau. Now go and get some kip. :smt015

Does today's excellent performance and result prove..

Not at all, Alpine. What it might prove is that, with the January window transfers in, Saints now have a league squad that is probably the equal, possibly the best, of any in League One. It is entirely possible to play in the Cups and play in the League. Although I have ever been entirely convinced by the argument, it seems all professional footballers will tell you that doing well in the Cups will ultimately benefit a team in the League, simply because it can get the team into a winning momentum. It also raises squad morale in the process. AP is no different in that mentality, and has said so. The fact that Saints are now out of the FA Cup, but can still look back to a largely excellent performance, as they put Portsmouth on the rack, at times, must be seen as a positive, a week after that result. I have a feeling, Norwich City didn't quite know what hit them. Saints totally dominated today's match, just like they did the first 60 minutes, a week ago. Whether I'm convinced of the professional argument or not, only the Cups will allow a lower league side to test their mettle against higher quality. And a worthwhile test it proved too. -

Good point. I noted today, when Hammond's name was mentioned in the commentary, how well Saints have performed since his return. Last week, against Pompey, he wasn't 100%, and faded in the last 20 minutes, but today, along with Schneiderlin, he was here and there, making his mark. I sometimes find it difficult to think what he actually does, even when I'm able to watch Saints play, but the team certainly play better with him, than without him. I suppose that's why he's the captain. -
Come on peeps, less p!ss taking and more acceptance that TT is a passionate Saints fan, who is no doubt performing flik-flaks knowing Saints beat Norwich City today at Carrow Road. And if you weren't able to tune in to the radio, Tim, I can tell you that apart from the first 5 minutes in the first half, and the first 10 minutes in the second half, Saints almost totally dominated the play, despite the Norwich crowd being very much behind their team, for much of the match. However, the Saints contingent were very vocal, and we could hear loads of editions of slow/standard/fast OWTS, and Father's Gun. Basically, Saints played as they did against Pompey last week, and this time, with no David James, and against a League One side, their quality showed through. Proud of the Lads again.

Indeed. A certain past chairman planned against relegation, and the worst outcome, and that was exactly what Saints got. Look up, rather than down.

Last album tonight, and I've blown guitar practice again. Think I've had the guitar in my hands for an hour this week. Poor. Anyway: Joe Jackson - Night & Day.

Just watched Amy Williams become Great Britain's first individual Olympic Champion since Robin Cousins in 1980. Everybody kept shouting Amy, and it reminded me of some particular lyrics. Can anyone remember this chorus, and identify the artist and the song...? Hopefully, I've got this right because I've taken it from memory. Amy, I may not be James Dean Amy, I may not be nineteen And I may still be in romper boots and jeans but oooh Amy, you're the girl that wrecks my dreams

Watching the Women's Skeleton event, with loads of GB interest in it, as we are the fastest with Amy Williams, who set a new course record, down the Whistler track. Normally, I wouldn't bother too much, but the Skeleton sledge really appears to move like a rocket ship. The sliders come down the track head first, and the speed looks absolutely enormous. So fast that the cameras sometimes have dificulty keeping up. Good TV. EDIT: F**k me - Amy Williams British Olympic Champion..!

Yeah, I know what you mean. He probably is a genius, who is on the cusp of being a crackpot. Quite an influence on modern music, yet being able to run his own direction. Anyway, I'm rattling through them tonight. Now: The Art of Noise - In Visible Silence

Don't whether anyone has seen this. Complete lift from 606: Pompey Ask The Premier League & FIFA If they didn't mind if they let them win both the Premier League and the upcoming World Cup as it would assist them in attracting investment. The club didn't see it as unreasonable or in anyway detracting from the spirit of these competitions. Pompey are clearly a special club with special needs. Peter Storrie was unavailable for comment to confirm whether he had also approached Simon Cowell to allow Portsmouth FC to win this year's X Factor. However, BBC Sport understands that Pompey have already been given a bye into the latter stages of this year's Miss World contest. Fred Dineage was looking forward to bringing World Peace whilst funding a new roof for the Fratton End toilet. Pretty much sums up the whole sorry affair. It is a joke.
